Hello fellow tumblr people! I am GracefulFern, originally theofficiallurantis. I just decided a new name to go by. You like it?
I ran @agardevoir and @beingofemotion, which are PokĂŠmon rp accounts. I quit because I didnât feel like it anymore.
I like PokĂŠmon, Roblox (Specifically Dandyâs World + Block Tales), and The Amazing Digital Circus. Iâm AuDHD, Iâm a minor, I go by She/Her and Ey/Em, and Iâm aromantic/aegosexual.
Iâm also a chemistry nerd, specifically for the Periodic Table of Elements, mainly centered around the Actinides and Transactinides. I have written a few things about my personifications of the elements, which I highly suggest you read and give me feedback on. I always appreciate what you all say! (Look in the tag âcanon of the elementsâ on my posts)

fun fact Antihydrogen should actually look completely different to Hydrogen. This is because Hydrogen was originally Proton, and became Hydrogen with Electron's help because of the Quarks preventing atoms from forming. If the Quarks hadn't done that, Proton would have stayed Proton and a different Hydrogen would've formed naturally through Nucleation. Antihydrogen would be the inverse of this Hydrogen. Unless Positron fused itself with Antiproton but I can tell you that doesn't happen. Or at least, there are already atoms of antihydrogen in the universe before Positron has that idea

I totally forgot I called my thing âCanon of the Elementsâ, I made alternative names for a roleplay server, so I guess Iâll incorporate those names into my thing too.
Fernâs Chemical Elements: just the elements without the surrounding story
The Table: Part of the Canon of the Elements story that starts when One (Hydrogen) creates the Table.

2 shiny new kitties to add to the roster! now 4/6 chalcogens (equal to pnictogens) and 3/7 planetary metals (2/3 staff of the Aurichalcum Inn :0)
also all three protagonists and all four antagonists of the original version of the story (sorry you two got so badly sidelined compared to Copper, Uranium, Arsenic, Antimony and Sulphur)
Polonium rounds up the rest of the metalloids and says "I wonder which one of you tastes the best". they are all various degrees of confused and disturbed thinking Polonium wants to make out with them. When really Polonium wants to have samples of their element to eat
Polo I think eating samples of boron and silicon would break your teeth but ok buddy

brain cells (the ones that specifically store memory, i'll have to do more research later) are named after the memory they store
this is probably an extreme oversimplification of how this works but can you imagine cell gang going to the brain and meeting a cell who introduces itself as "12th birthday party (nobody showed up)"
The forges of Teragon were awash with rumours of a new metal. The blacksmiths and redsmiths and silversmiths and goldsmiths all put aside their differences to investigate brass, where methods to separate the mysterious other metal from familiar Copper had come to light. Red light faded to grey, and the truth was crystallised. Analysis by alchemists confirmed: a new element.
They called it Zinc, for Zinc was his name. He was brought to headquarters of the Smithing Guild by Copper, who introduced him to his discoverers. He slouched behind her, fretting with his hands, but grinning from ear to ear. A barrage of questions were launched at him; he looked to Copper for guidance on what he was supposed to say.
The locations of zinc deposits; identifications of zinc-containing minerals; methods for smelting zinc more efficiently. Zinc answered as he was able, but didnât have that much useful information. Copper advised him not to give them any information which was outside of the scope of their understanding.
The Elementals were entreated to a hearty dinner by the Royal Alchemists- much more than Zinc needed as an element with five stable isotopes, but Copper gladly welcomed it.
When they left, Teragonâs vision of the world was expanded. They would spread the news: to Orre, to Xylos, to Marin. A new element. A new tool to shape their destiny.
âWell,â Copper looked up at Zinc, âHow was that, then?â
Zinc relaxed his face, his smile finally fading.
âI must admit, rather tiring,â he lamented, âthese mortals, theyâre very chatty, arenât they?â
âYeah, I guess itâs a lot,â she admitted, scratching her head, âbut honestly, I love them all the more for it. They are so curious and eager to learn! Itâs wonderful!â
âYeah, itâsâŚitâs great,â Zinc mumbled, âI guess this⌠you know, opens up a whole world of new experiencesâŚâ
He started to choke up.
âYes, and you are going to have a blast!â Copper jumped up on a nearby rock to get to Zincâs eye level, âitâs perfectly normal to have mixed feelings about this, by the way. This is completely new for you! But I promise youâre going to fall in love with these mortals over and over again!â
She smiled cheesily at him.
He believed the words when they came out of Copperâs mouth. If Copper thought heâd get along with the mortals, then how could he disappoint her?
âHeh⌠alright then,â Zinc hiccupped, nodding while wiping his eyes, âWeâll see how it goes.â
Minutes passed in silence as Copper allowed Zinc to regain his composure.
âSay,â she finally posited, âus First-Contacters have meetings a lot more often than the Periodic Assemblies. We like to catch up with each other about our experiences with the mortals, and decide which discoveries we should tell the rest of the Table about. How about I bring you along to the next one? Iâm sure everyone would be happy to see you there!â
WoahâŚ. A secret First-Contacter club? And I get to join! This prospect was more exciting to him than being pestered by mortals.
âCount me in!â he chuckled.
Elemental Mountain towered proud over Aethereal Valley - the haven of the Elements, hidden from prying mortal eyes. While many Elements were out travelling the furthest reaches of the continent in the intervals between Periodic Assemblies, the First-contacters would habitually travel back to the Mountain from their stations in mortal society. These were the only Elements permitted to have such positions as per the Law of First Contact - as the mortals had discovered their elements out in the wild. This was an exclusive club, limited to the lucky few whose elements occurred natively, or needed only simple smelting to be extracted from ores.
And now Zinc was one of them.
As Copper led him down the winding corridors that led to the deepest depths of the mountain, Zinc couldnât help but worry about how the others would react. What if his presence upset the group dynamic? What if they all felt too awkward around him to freely discuss what they wanted to? He steeled himself, taking a few deep breaths.
Come on, Zinc. You know these Elements. The Planetary Metals were his friends! Especially his fellow group 12 metal Mercury. They had all shown him nothing but kindness.
But in all honesty, being their equal didnât sit right with Zinc.
âAre you ready?â Copper enquired, hand on the door.
He inhaled sharply and balled his fists.
âLetâs do this,â he announced.
The door opened.
The first thing Zinc was greeted with when he crossed the threshold was a slap on the back and a hearty handshake from Mercury.
âAh, Zinc!â she remarked, âItâs wonderful to finally see you here! I trust that Copper has told you all you need to know about being one of us?â
She looked pointedly over Zincâs head at Copper.
âI can assure you Iâve been very helpful,â Copper scoffed, crossing her arms and looking away from Mercury.
âYes, very helpful!â Zinc corroborated, trying as hard as he could to convey that he was telling the truth.
âThereâs nothing he needs to know,â a snarky voice interrupted, âYou metals take this much too seriously.â
Antimony leant back on his chair with his feet up on the table. He turned his nose up as Mercury turned to glare at him.
âAntimony, to live amongst the mortals is a privilege and a responsibility,â she chided, âYou donât take it seriously enough.â
The metalloid sighed, âZinc, donât be boring like her. There are no hard rules to this. Have a little fun!â
âMind you, âfunâ to Antimony means killing people,â Lead sneered disparagingly.
âI would prefer to call it âenacting vigilante justiceâ,â Antimony retorted. He ran a hand through his greasy hair.
âWellâŚuhh⌠I donât know if Iâm going to be doing that, really,â Zinc mumbled, âbut Iâll try to enjoy myselfâŚâ
âYes, you do that,â the metalloid smiled toothily at him.
âWhy donât you take a seat?â Copper asked, directing Zinc to sit between her and Mercury.
Mercury narrowed her eyes at Antimony. Sulphur gently touched her tensed-up arm, and the metal relaxed, burying her face in her shoulder.
Iron leant in, a goofy grin on his face, âHope youâre enjoying yourself, Zinc! Thatâs just a taste of the madness that ensues when we all get together!â
âYeahâŚ.heheâŚâ Zinc laughed, flustered.
âSo where did they find you?â Gold enquired.
âOh, er⌠up in Teragon,â he answered, âThey were investigating my metal within brass.â
âAh,â Gold remarked, the corners of his mouth twitching up, âTer-riffic.â
Was this ill-fated pun a futile attempt to make Zinc feel comfortable? Or a dismissal of his discovery as an amusing piece of trivia?
âI was wondering how long it would take them to discover the zinc in brass,â Silver mused, ignoring Goldâs joke, âwhat with how much the mortals have been using brass since its invention.â
âThey just put whatever bullshit into their copper and see what sticks,â Antimony scoffed, âBless their little hearts, but the mortals have no clue what they are doing. Itâs just the âmysterious impurityâ that makes the copper do shit that they need a metal to do.â
âHey!â Copper yelped indignantly, âI can do plenty just fine!â
âMmm, yes⌠the mysterious impurity that they add to copperâŚâ Tin turned to look at Antimony. His tone was stern but there was a twinkle in his eye.
âIâm not talking about bronze!â Antimony sighed, leaning in and ruffling the crystallogenâs hair. Tin giggled quietly. Lead rolled his eyes.
âHey, Zinc,â Iron drew his attention away from the metalloidâs antics, âTo be real for a moment, please donât feel bad about the mortals alloying your element. While Copper finds it demoralising, sheâs forgetting that it is the nature of an element to be combined.â
âWell, not always,â Gold pointed out, as Copper huffed exasperatedly.
âYour Noble Highness, you are not helping my point,â Iron snapped at him.
âOkay, well, sometimes I feel bad that my metal doesnât suffice on its own,â Copper grumbled, âBut thatâs just how I feel, Zinc. Donât be like me.â
Zinc was taken aback to hear such an admission from Copper. Would Iron have forced Copperâs hand to confront her shortcomings if he hadnât been there to prompt the conversation? Guilt welled up in his core; it was his fault Copper felt bad.
The door creaked open, and Carbon tramped in, leaving a trail of dirt. The first of the First-Contacters, and always the last to show up.
He stopped in his tracks when he saw Zinc at the table, paralysed with indecision on what to say to Copper. His tail bristled and his nostrils flared for a moment.
âAnother metal,â he said coldly, âGreat.â
The Planetary Metals all glared at him in union.
âYou people are embarrassing,â Antimony muttered under his breath.
âCarbon!â Sulphur sputtered, coughing acrid smoke, âYou are aware there are many more metals than non-metals in the Table. So few elements have been discovered; it is perfectly likely that the next would also be a metal! You know this! Donât be so surprised!â
Mercury patted her on the back in an attempt to ease her coughing, still staring daggers at Carbon.
Carbon stood there for a second, his tail swishing. He observed the apprehensive faces of the Planetary Metals. Zinc was beset with icy fear at the notion that they would all gang up on the non-metal in front of him.
â....My apologies, metals,â Carbon eventually hissed dejectedly, âMy reaction was⌠impulsive. I was not thinking straight.â
âYou fully looked at Zinc and calculated your reaction,â Mercury growled, âbut thank you for your apology.â
âA rare sight, eh?â Lead elbowed Tin as Carbon pulled up the empty chair between Sulphur and Antimony.
âCount yourself lucky,â Carbon growled, narrowing his eyes at the other crystallogens.
Silence fell over the table.
âDonât let my presence distract you from whatever it is you were talking about,â the non-metal scoffed.
Zinc found his voice again.
âA-about what you said earlier, Copper,â he stammered, âYou shouldnât feel bad that your element is diluted with mineâŚ. I should, reallyâŚitâs better for my element not to sully yours.â
He had said something wrong.
Copperâs face melted into a tearful frown.
The rest of them were awash with shame and incredulity.
Their faces closed in on him. His fragile, snivelling heart beared in front of them all.
Copper barrelled into him.
âDonât say things like that!â she blubbered, clamping her arms around him, âzinc is a great addition to any copper tool! Iâm so sorry I made you feel like adding your element to mine would be a bad idea!â
She didnât understand. Nothing she had ever said had convinced him of his opinion. He had come to this conclusion simply by using his eyes. There was a reason he had gone undiscovered all these years while Copper shone bright throughout mortal history. She was a marvel among metals, a red rebel in a sea of boring grey. A sea which he was inextricable from. Drowning her in his unremarkability.
âItâsâŚnot your fault,â Zinc murmured, â...I guess we both feel bad about it, but as Iron said, itâs the nature of elements to be combinedâŚâ
And it was his nature to be the impurity.
"making them afraid will make them more racist" that's wild to me, because we live in a whole culture of social consequences for antiracism anyway. It is literally safer to be a racist than it is to speak up against it, socially.
Idk about you, but "I'm afraid no one will want to be my friend if I'm a white supremacist" seems like a pretty logical thought process to have, and I wish THAT were the normal and not "I'm afraid my friends will hate me if I tell them they made racist jokes".
I hope you're happy with the hole you left after you cut me out of your lives
Astatine deserves to murder all the other halogens. They should be grovelling at her feet and begging for forgiveness. And she's like "no. I am going to hang out with Polonium and the metalloids now" and I don't blame her
Element War -> the stable halogens start not visiting Astatine anymore because Hydrogen no likey -> shocking! they start to miss Astatine!
But imagine how Astatine must feel, being abandoned by her family but then being assured by Iodine that they feel really bad about it. She should start killing and maiming

The star-shaped mark is what remains of an incision scar from during her first instar, when her mother Rhalkxu used her blood to resurrect Chekorhothk. It has faded with each moult and is not present in her imago form.
note here that her scarf is pink, not red. This is because she was raised solely by Rhalkxu without knowing who her father was. Rhalkxu also used to be an Archbishop (though now excommunicated after Kuhathkasokt slandered her) so in her mind she's powerful enough to warrant dressing her daughter in her own colours
