Recently saw a post (can't find it again) about how uther was stupid for continuously sending out his son and knights to kill magical creatures that could only be killed by magic (and not listening to Gaius' warnings). But to be fair those episodes go like this:
Some knight: sire there is this super evil magical creature
Uther: we need to send out some knights to kill it! Arthur you must lead them
Arthur: yes father of course
Gaius: but sire this is an evil magical creature you can only kill it with magic
Uther: nonsense, Arthur you will ride out tomorrow
Arthur: of course I will take all my not magic using knights with our normal weapons and my stupid ordinary servant to kill it. No magic around
Arthur and the knights come back having killed the thing
Uther: see Gaius I was right. The evil creature is dead and no magic was around. Because obviously there was no soccerer with them
Like if I were uther I wouldn't believe Gaius either. As far as he's concerned/knows every time Gaius said there was a magical creature that could only be killed by magic his non magical son with his non magical knights managed to defeat it anyways

Currently reading sapiens and I gotta admit I love how Harari is talking about Christianity:
"In contrast, over the course of the next 1500 years christians slaughtered Christians by the millions to defend slightly different interpretations of the religion of love and compassion"
"on 24 August 1572, French Catholics who stressed the importance of good deeds attacked communities of French Protestants who highlighted God's love for humankind. (...) Between 5000 and 10000 Protestants were slaughtered in less than twenty four hours. When the Pope in Rome heard the news from France, he was so overcome by joy that he (...) commissioned Giorgio vasari to decorate one of the Vatican's rooms with a fresco of the massacre (the room is currently off limits to visitors)" (I wonder why the church wouldn't want people to see that)
The chapter only using eridian numbers to show how grace adapted (like he himself said the human mind can get used to pretty much everything) to their number system and in a way their way of life.
But also rocky, at the beginning when he was speaking English he spoke it rather simply, heard some people call it "toddler language", but by the end of the book he mastered the English grammar. He is using full sentences not leaving out any pronouns or stuff. Most notably his questions don't end in "question" anymore proving further how fluent both he and grace became in the other's language.
Grace with his instrument thingy even being able to "speak" it.

Project hail Mary movie: grace opens the airlock the ship loses all air in what appears to be seconds
PHM book: It takes a surprisingly long time for a ship to lose all its air. In movies, if there’s a little breach everyone dies immediately. Or the muscular hero guy plugs the hole with his biceps or something
thinking of the naboo funerary tradition being cremation and padmé's body being denied that, depersonalizing her and turning her into more of a symbol...
and omg the supernatural implications, like imagine padmé's spirit being confined to the world of the living, being able to see but not make herself seen, stuck in a limbo for all eternity, because she'd been denied the traditional cremation.
Vader’s attempts to capture Luke in the comics are also so, SO good because Vader was just positively OBSESSIVE about it. Like Palpatine himself said, Vader stole shittons of Imperial money and murdered a whole bunch of people, creating an EMPIRE within the EMPIRE, just so that he could get the resources to capture Luke. He wasted thousands of hours and Imperial lives on literal Family Drama missions. He murdered a random nobody who was impersonating Luke to get smuggling jobs out of sheer disappointment, he murdered a whole SLEW of high-ranking officers just because they inadvertently threatened Luke, and he threatened a high-ranking admiral with death because she was about to fire on the Falcon (and thus Luke). He straight-up MURDERED Aphra in the one way she said she didn’t want to die (throwing her out of the airlock) because she knew too much about Luke. And in ESB, he flew his ENTIRE SHIP into an asteroid field because he thought Luke was on the falcon. Obsessive father, thy name is Vader
where’s that post that was like “the imperial march is just the tune vader thinks the word ‘son’ over in obsessively” because it was very funny and apt. also, yes, all of this rules, also especially the part where vader - notably a dude who got torched by lava - surfboards on a river of lava to approach luke’s divine presence. it’s the best fucking thing. you know in the gillen comics, when he first learns luke’s name, and he has this rosy-glittering daydream about reaching out to luke and luke’s reaching back? like our man, evil sith lord extraordinaire, had an extended daydream about approaching holding hands with luke? not even actually holding hands, just, like, getting a little close? holy shit. impeccable

"Her name," the former Senator of Naboo says, gravely, "was Padmé Amidala." Pooja Naberrie bows her head. "She was born Padmé Naberrie."
Luke has never heard of her before. Still, the name Padmé Naberrie tingles down his spine.
"Please do not forget my aunt in your memorials. Thank you."
Pooja Naberrie bows to the Council.
Her warm brown eyes meet Luke's.
His heart races.
This is important.
A puzzle piece waiting to be placed.
But only time will tell why.
After the meeting, he approaches Pooja.
"Tell me more about your aunt."
The words are compelled out of him.
Pooja smiles, sadly. "There is only so much I can tell you. She spent so much time away as Queen, then Senator. I rarely saw her, and I was a child. She was an amazing aunt and a competent, powerful politician in a time of immense corruption. She brought a Jedi bodyguard to my grandparents' house, once. But even as family, we only knew so much. We never learnt the other parent of her child."
"Her child?"
"Died with her."
Sparks sting against his spine. Wrong, he thinks, but he does not know why.
He bows his head in respect for the dead.
Pooja's smile is grim. "The Empire's transition was far from bloodless."
Luke Skywalker is intrigued by Padmé Amidala, and it is for more than her political accolades.
Like she is a ghost, haunting him.
Luke learns of a dead Senator and wants to know the woman behind the mask.
It itches at him, the importance of knowing more about Padmé Amidala.
what I really wish more people digged into about padme was that she represents a planet that is a backwater, that is considered insignificant in galactic politics, that's relatively 'new' to the republic (their membership isn't even a millenium old!), who has to put up with core world supremacy, who makes herself be listened to, who finds the customs of the core worlds strange, who is much more vulnerable, who comes from a small planet in the mid rim bordering on the outer rim that so many people dismiss as 'backwards' and 'primitive'.
I know people forget this because naboo is the birthplace of both palpatine and padme but the general galaxy does not give a shit about naboo. that's a key part of TPM. this probably changed during the empire but like. padme would have struggled with this in the senate.
According to Wookieepedia in one legends comic it's literally called "The Jewel World of the Outer Rim Territories". It's so close to the outer rim that people consider it a part of it.
There might even be some core world tourists who go there and consider it a trip to the outer rim and tell everyone how much they learned/ how enriching and how different it is there (like people here who go to some poorer less developed countries but spend all their time in European all inclusive hotels/ Safaris and afterwards pretend like they now understand the culture)
At least according to the old continuity, the Wookiees were skilled explorers, and their Clatuuvac Guild had the secrets to a number of hyperspace routes, especially through the Core (it's why the Separatists were so keen to take the planet in Revenge of the Sith)... And Chewbacca was one of the people who knew these hyperspace routes.
So the Millennium Falcon being the fastest smuggler ship in the galaxy? About half of that is down to Han's modifications, the fact that he drives like crazy, and the fact that he's almost as good as he thinks he is. The other half? Is just Chewie knowing a bunch of shortcuts, which he got from all the classified information he knew when he was a commander.
One of the ways Luke is like Anakin is that Luke is his mother's son like his father before him. The poetry of galaxy being saved because they both inherited traits from their mothers—Anakin inherited Shmi's goodness and Luke inherited Padmé's faith.

Ok so in canon we never find out how Padme decided on the twins names (or if/how Anakin was involved in all of it). That means there's a chance that he knew Padme planned to name their child Leia.
This also means that when he first met her, he met a girl that looked like Padme and was raised by one of her closest friends/companions, was extremely strong in the force, the exact same age his child would be and also had the exact name they wanted to give said child. And he just went, "huh, what a weird coincidence" and proceeded with his day like nothing ever happened
