“Sweetie, hide here and don’t make a single sound okay-not a single sound.” Your mother frantically ordered. 

You nodded, “Mom what’s going on?” 

You heard loud banging from downstairs and she kissed your head as she whispered, “I love you.” 

That was several minutes ago before you heard a gunfire once. 

Only once. 

You obeyed your mother’s order of staying in the closet in the far corner. That was where you sat with your knees to your chest. You could faintly hear the clatter from downstairs of priceless vases and glass was thrown and smashed and shattered.

Insane laughter followed shortly after as more things were broken out of entertainment. You were scared out of your mind, your heart was racing loudly and tears were prickling your eyes.

You wanted to run out of the house and straight to the GPCD but at the same time you were scared stiff and your mother told you to stay put. You couldn’t exactly go anywhere either. 

You heard the bedroom door creak open and you held your breath as you heard the gentle squeak of shoes across the wooden floorboard. 

“I know you’re in here.“ A voice spoke, “Come on out. I won’t hurt you.” 

It was a male’s and it was soft and comforting without the context of what was going on at the moment. You weren’t stupid, you knew not to listen to the guy’s voice.

He stopped and it was so quiet you were scared the stranger could hear your heart racing. A quiet whimper escaped you and you knew you were dead. You saw an umbrella in the dark and knew you could use it for self-defense.

A shadow overcame the light coming through the vents and you froze. Your mind was screaming at you to grab the dang umbrella but your body was frozen stiff.

The doors flung open and you let out a shriek.

"Found you."
