Observations From Blurred Lines

RIP Brenda Fricker 💔💔 Obviously she had a long career and was brilliant in so many roles, but I do think Early Casualty owes so much to her portrayal of Megan. When I talk about the warmth and sense of connection between the characters in those earlier series, my first examples often end up being scenes with Megan and so much of that is down to how beautifully she played the character. Some of the real standout moments that made it obvious just what the show could be all the way back in 1986 involved her (I think about the scene where Duffy visits Megan in her hospital bed so often). Also, from how she describes her thoughts when Geraint Morris approached her for the show in her book, she was as dedicated as many of the writers to the goals Casualty had in their portrayal of healthcare and healthcare workers. What a brilliant, talented woman.
