losing my braincells

Noelle having always wanted to learn guitar because of how cool she thought dess looked and sounded when she played. Her not being able to look at one without a pit forming in her stomach for years after Dess leaves. Seing susie act so nonchalantly about it, so happy to even try to play despite barely being able to hold a note- it makes it feel less scary and overwhelming for the first time in too long. So that night she'll sit in Dess' room, she'll pick up the guitar and start to try and play. She'll wince, because the steel strings hurt her fingers, and the tone is buzzy, but really, she doesn't mind. After all, its that same sound she'd heard all those years ago. If she closes her eyes, maybe Dess is sitting beside her, watching proudly as she fumbles over the notes.
