October 23: ‘I am gone though I am here’ said dear Lady Disdain
I was so miserable
my depression bare.
Then I’d found Shakespeare;
a small thing,
but it was something.

they really brought david tenant’s son in and said hey do you want to play a gay little boy in good omens 2. just a little camp mf. nepotism done right.
Your boyfriend says lets blow everything off and go have one of our boozy rich person brunch dates and maybe kiss a little bit and you're like nah bro I have to go do the work of jesus christ our lord. I don't know why conservatives don't like this show that's basically the plot of every video the catholic church shows you in middle school CCD
I can understand why people want to think the coffee was laced or something but the answer is a lot more simple. It was a thought out, calculated manipulation. The Metatron took Aziraphale away from his home and the one person he trusts. He begins to praise him, saying he’d be a much better fit to lead heaven. He used Crowley as a bargaining chip. Well we can bring him with us of course! He can be forgiven and you two can be happy and safe! Of course Aziraphale wouldn’t see past that. He wants nothing more than to do good and be with the person he loves the most.
It wasn’t coffee that made him do what he did, it’s being stuck and a toxic and manipulative relationship with Heaven. He took the first chance he got to go back because it’s what’s familiar to him. Even though he knows how bad it is. He thinks, if I can just change it, it can all be better! It’s a parallel to toxic human relationships. The idea that you can change the other for the better, but in doing so you sacrifice everything important to you.
Hope this made sense (not the best at writing my thoughts down)
back on tumblr cos um books??
it’s so nice coming back here after a couple of years and seeing my shakespeare mutuals still into shakespeare like yay that gives me hope that it’s possible for chronically online ppl with dismantled attention spans to like it beyond it being a fleeting hyperfixation????? can u imagine. and maybe when work calms down i can sink my teeth into a good play again cos i miss that feeling so much, of becoming absorbed, swept up and gradually feel your brain acquiesce to early modern english again. and to feel seen by words that were so old and so beloved.
these days i’m so burnt out from work that shakepeare has felt too daunting and arduous to engage with in my downtime though. so idk what this blog is gonna turn into but i always felt being here gave my passion for literature a very fun and colorful dimension! weirdly enough when i was most active on here it was also when i was reading the most i had in a while. so it will still mainly be literary things i reblog most likely. cos back in the day i remember it was like...the more pages i read, the more silly little text posts about the work i’d understand. silly that it wasn’t more of an intrinsic motivation to read more but i don’t care as long as it got me to read

GOOD OMENS - The fall of Crowley
can we talk about how sweet crowley was this whole season. he told gabriel to jump from the window, regretted it, and made him cocoa. he saved a woman from suicide. he saved a bunch of goats and 3 kids by turning them into birds or lizards. he bumped muriel on the shoulder like a dad would when she told him she was 37th not 38th. he wanted aziraphale to be safe. he told that one guy not to feed the ducks bread because he wanted the ducks to be safe. he sheltered aziraphale, who he’d only known for a few minutes, under his wing. he helped aziraphale with his magic trick and supported him the whole season—his only condition being that aziraphale was safe.
crowley is a good person. even if he hates that, it’s true. and more than anything he wants aziraphale to be safe because he knows what it’s like to lose him. and he wants to protect aziraphale from heaven, because he knows how terrible they can be.
One character note I love is how aziraphale tries to do things the human way like buys his clothes and tries to learn French and insists on taking a driving test and goes to magic classes. Baby girl you’re gonna hate it in heaven
