"Courage! Un petit remontant" / "Hold on! Here's a treat for you" It's been a very hard day. I am sick. I hesitated whether going to work or not, but my sense of duty was too strong. So I went. My students have been quite understanding, although a few of them did not care about my feeling weak and really got on my nerves. At the end of my third lesson of the day, I almost fainted. I sat down, I could not make proper sentences. I apologized to my students and told them to put their books in their bags, the lesson was over. One of them stood up, refused to sit down, and started to criticize my lesson (besides, he had refused to work anyway). I used my last blast of energy to tell him off but he just kept insulting me. The bell rang and I told them to leave. I started to cry out of exhaustion. My students told me "Miss, you should get some rest! You should not work when you visibly can't!" I thanked them and told them it'd be OK. Then my other students came in but saw that I had been crying. They sat down and watched the Dead Poets Society quietly. When the bell rang and the students went out, I saw this cute little post on my desk, with a chocolate bear. I almost cried again, but out of joy and gratitude this time! Teaching is really tough, but you get rewards you had never dreamed of. Thank you. ♡ (à Lycée Mathias)
