soooo clearly whoever made this meme has NO FUCKING IDEA WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.
let’s break this down, whether we’re talking about home loans, personal loans, car loans, small business loans or any other type of major bank financing, it’s common knowledge that black people have been systematically discriminated against and unjustly denied funding or given higher interest rates. this FACT coincides with the 80% of surveyed Black entrepreneurs who said that lack of capital was their greatest challenge. in other words, those asians and arabs are getting loans easier and at better rates than black people to open those business in those communities where black people would love to open a business but can’t. therefore those businesses in the black community are serving a need that black people can’t serve because we can’t get the capital/funding to serve that need. so the stores are there, black people need shit, so they buy what the need. it’s a classic case of supply and demand with a nice heaping of banking and load discrimination thrown in.
to be clear such banking and loan discrimination is not new but was put in place to empower white supremacy. it just so happen that it’s just empowering anti-blackness as a whole because we are talking about asians and arabs whose culture contains loads of anti-blackness that get to open a business in black neighborhoods on the cheap and take advantage of black people (who they hate on the down low).
as for poor spending habits part of this meme, there’s no evidence of that whatsoever. you know what there’s ample evidence of? how EXPENSIVE it is to be POOR. most black communities are poor and when you’re poor and do you know what the STATS show about poor people in general (WHICH INCLUDES BLACK PEOPLE)? the lowest 20 percent of income earners spend more than 100% of their income on basic necessities and have been doing so for decades. check the research. in other words, those poor black communities where these asian and arab businesses are given the advantage to open a business because of the banking and loan discrimination they DON’T have to face like black people, are filled with people who need to spend more than 100% of their income on the basics like housing, transportation, healthcare and food. they are spending more money on just surviving (food, shelter, getting to work) than living (expensive sneakers, jackets, vacations and etc). that liquor store on the corner with the cheap rent because they’re open in a black community where the rent is cheaper (yea let’s not get into how cheap rents to these businesses allows them to do things like charge low prices and shit for subpar but absent and sometimes necessary items) isn’t getting some larger than it should sum of money from black folks.
the “black people are bad with money” myth is some racist bullshit that unfortunately some black people have fallen for without actually doing any deep dive into numbers, stats and shit. that $5 that black person is paying at the chinese store is a drop in the bucket compared to the 100s he or she is putting out to keep a roof over their heads, to be able to take the bus or train to work, have something that resembles health insurance and more. so again, that’s NOT evidence of “poor spending habits.” that’s some bullshit GOP talking point. what’s “good spending habits?” savings? it’s damn near impossible to be a working poor person and save money. i’m not even going to link any research because that shit has been known for decades now. stop watching fox news. what’s another “good spending habit?” investing? how the fuck you’re going to invest when you’re living paycheck to paycheck? i have been lucky enough to invest, shit ain’t easy. you can lose all you money in a hot second. everyone knows you have to invest with money you are good with losing, you can’t risk that shit when you’re poor. don’t do that when you’re barely making ends meet.
the nonsense people like to throw around is that poor people spend too much money on things like sneakers, fashion, cellphones and shit like that. you know what i’ve learned after growing up poor and then now having money? people of all economic rankings “waste money” on things to make them feel good. it’s pretty asinine to me to bash people who are spending more money on just surviving than any other group because they dared to make a purchase that makes them feel good about themselves. that’s some serious fuckery. that’s the shit the makes rich people and these corrupt law makers (who go out of their way to give more and more and more and more to the rich) smile from ear to ear. y’all putting the blame and attention on the wrong things cause it’s easy. you don’t have to think deeply, you don’t have to do any research, you don’t have to crunch any numbers… nothing. you just make some fake deep memes and pat yourself on the back without realizing you’re going the work of these racists, capitalist monsters for them. black people aren’t getting loans to open up businesses in the black community that would help circulate money in the black community like a healthy community, where the fucking meme about that? in almost every vocation, black people consistently must deal with being payed less than black white people while being just as skilled, experienced and productive. where the fucking meme about that? you’re focused on some bullshit “there’s must be something wrong with black culture” white racist bullshit that they spread to take the focus off of how white people redline our communities, artificially depress our home values, discriminate and/or rob us at the banks, pay us lower wages, quick to fire us, steer us towards shitty housing and more. the fuck is wrong with you? all for what? to wag your finger at the black person who dared buy some jordans? sit your clown ass down.
you know who buys jordans in the black community? people like me who make over 150k a year. that’s who? you know what else? i make 150k a year and for years i still CHOSE to live in poor black neighborhoods. why? not because of cheap rent and all that but because I WANTED TO BE AROUND BLACK PEOPLE! research shows that even well off black people live in poor black communities because of the community. i wanted to live where there were people that look like me, talked like me, listened to the music i listen to and shit. so that guy or gal in that black neighborhood who can afford luxury ISN’T exhibiting “poor spending habits.” they can afford it, they can afford to save, they can afford to invest, they have an ira, they have stocks and etc. they have the money to do shit. they just happen to live in that neighborhood cause they don’t want to move to some white ass neighborhood and not be around their people. so that kid with the jordans in the neighborhood is probably making 80k as a python developer or some shit. he’s making 80k BUT the average income in his neighborhood is 30k. so when he buys something expensive, the lazy thinker thinks he’s a 30k earner living beyond his means when in-fact, he’s making 80k, with stocks, a savings account and shit, so those jordans are a drop in the bucket for him or her. this is why you don’t fucking make or believe memes, you fucking do your research.
again black people don’t have “poor spending habits.” no research shows that black people spend more on “feel good items” than any other race or more than they should relative to their income and money needed for basics. nothing. nada. zip. and those asian and arab businesses in the black communities are they in large part because black people who would love to open a business in their communities are discriminated against in the banking and loan industries which makes it difficult for them to get the capital needed to open those businesses. get. your. facts. straight.
i was rage typing when i first wrote this so i went back and fixed the typos and added some more stuff.
