Log 22: An Unassuming Sword
(The following is a rough estimation of a conversation between two thieves observed by a scrying Spiritshifter)
1: โฆIโm sorry, mate, what in Helnarโs name is that?
2: What? Itโs my sword.
1: It looks like a gnome on a stick.
2: Oh, come on. I know I had to grab whatever I could find, but thatโs a bit extreme, donโt you think?
1: Extreme? Are we seeing the same thing?
2: Sure, itโs a bit plain-looking, butโฆ
1: Plain looking? That thing sticks out like a sore thumb!
2: I donโt know what youโre talking about. It looks like a sword to me.
1: Give me that, will you? Youโre going to draw an audience, walking around with that thing.
2: โฆYou know, on second thought, I see what you mean. It does look like a gnome on a stick.
1: โฆReally. Because I was about to apologize. Now that Iโm holding it, I can see what you mean. Itโs perfectly normal.
2: Wait, now that youโre holding it, it looks like a gnome to me. Dโyou reckon this is some sort of magick?
1: Who would put a spell on an unassuming sword like this?
2: But itโs not unassuming. Itโs a gnome on a stick!
1: Listen, thereโs no need to get so indignant. Itโs clearly a sword, I bet you it would draw blood if I ran my finger across it.
2: Why donโt you, then? Prove it. Prove itโs a sword!
1: Iโm not going to cut myself! Why donโt I use it on you, instead?!
(At this point, the two had caused such a disturbance that they were arrested by local officials. Their belongings were confiscated, but the sword was nowhere to be found, nor was a gnome on a stick.)
