2. A mannerism that accidentally slipped in that you've now stuck to.

I'm not sure I've had something like that accidentally slip in. I can say that I enjoy deciding on a different main point-of-physical-contact between Cloud and Roche in my various fics:

For example, in "Hope in Dreams and Nightmares," post-degradation Roche most often touches Cloud's wrist; in "The Ocean Breathes Your Name," mer-man Cloud most often touches Roche's ankle; in the "Take As Needed" series, military-officer Cloud (who initially has to keep his own hair short due to military regs) increasingly loves touching Roche's long hair.
