A Collection of Collectible Chronicles: Communique 1

There were these collectibles that never got released, right? Thereâs some text with each of them, and Iâd like to keep them somewhere for reference. That, and write stories for fun. Since thereâs no canon for Glitch really, I can write what I want (hah). Please enjoy my random stories, presented without edit.
Todayâs collectible is the Bag of Tent Pegs.Â
âEven by the standards of the Lemish of the beforetimes, these tent pegs are tiny. Discovered by Birdie and Swift when they were just two particularly inquisitive children, pegged out in a curious star-like shape on a hillside down near a far off shore, surrounded by broken string. Systematically, they unpegged each one, and brought them home to pin maps to the walls.â
âHey Birdie! Come over here! Whatâs this?â
âSwift, where are you? Whatâs what?â
âI dunno. Theyâre really small.â
Birdie and Swift, two Lemish children, were exploring the shore beside a lake. Their mother had allowed them to explore, because as she said, âItâs never too early to discover the world!â Of course, they were instructed to return after a set amount of time, as she had also said âan adventurer knows when to explore no further.âÂ
Birdie, the older of the two, poked one of the small objects.Â
âSwift, what could it be? It seems to be made out of wood.â
âIt sure is small. Maybe it fell off the Rube or something?â
Birdie and Swift had heard about the Rube from their mother, as the Rube had tried to trade a map of Groddle Forest (which she already had) to her for one of her telescopes. The Rube had been quite persistent, following her for a distance until she leaped up a tree out of the Rubeâs reach. He had looked annoyed, then disappeared to wherever the Rube goes. After that, their mother had warned them about accepting trades from strangers made out of wood.
Swift looked at the other four pieces. Birdie blinked, as if remembering something.
âSwift, remember that book we read? Maybe these are tent pegs!â
âHuh? There are tents that small? And the configuration is strange for a tent.â
âMaybe they borrowed it from a tent for something else? Whatâs the string for?â
âOnly one way to find out.â
At this, Swift pulled string out of a pocket (string is indispensable to explorers) and tied it in a star pattern around the pegs. A faint smell of Rubeweed permeated the air, and the string broke into several pieces as the Rube started to appear in the middle of the star created by the tent pegs. Both Swift and Birdie leaped for different tent pegs and pulled them out. The image of the Rube faded away.
âThat was close! Thank Lem that the Rube went away!â
âSwift, we canât tell Mom about this, OK? Sheâd scold us for sure!â
âDo you really think so, Birdie?â
âSwift, donât you remember Momâs expression when she talked about the Rube?â
âOh yeah⌠That wasnât very fun.â
âLetâs just take these and pin up the maps we made today with them.â
âYeah!â Swift jumped up. âMom will really like the map we made of the shore! Itâs changed from the last time we were here.â Birdie took Swiftâs hand and they returned home in time for a dinner of Lemburgers, their favourite food.
