Hi it's Gio the too woke friend (honestly not a bad title I'd rather be awake than asleep literally and figuratively). Mask off moment here.
(⚠️Heads up, colored text will be used to show emphasis so if that puts strain on you, you have been warned ⚠️)
I just wanted to say I hate trans stereotypes especially against trans guys cuz like...it opens people up to being in put in a box. Again. Like idgaf if it's coming from a cis person or a trans person. Or if it's a "joke" or genuinely asked.
I'm a man. My preferred expressions of masculinity are literally every member of Malice Mizer past and present, David Bowie, femboys in general, but it's also Kenpachi Zaraki from Bleach, it's Ma Dong Seok (specifically in his role as Jang Dong-soo from what memory I have of the movie "The gangster, the cop, the devil). I want to be tough, but I also want to look beautiful while I do that. Sometimes I also just wanna wear a suit. (Like a lot). This does not make me any less a man, just as liking to cook and being a homebody doesn't. They're just how I want to express myself and interests of mine.
I used to identify as genderfluid but the more I thought about it, the more I put myself into that label because, I too, was effected by preconcieved notions of what a man is. I didn't think I could be a man with my interests, with my expression. That's not to say genderfluid invalid, clearly I was misinterpreting my own identity. Don't get it twisted (genderfluid people I love you).
I think people inside and outside the community can reinforce this. I've had family members compliment the fullness of my eyebrows or asked why I shaved my leg hair, and I've seen a trans guy comedian talk about like...the most stereotypical dude bro shit like being a trans man is knowing all the songs from this one either buttrock or numetal band I literally can't remember the name to because it was that unimportant to me, I've had a trans girl say my room (I showed her a pic of how I decorated it) and my expression reminded her of a trans girl's. Or like those memes of like "trans women turning into the most beautiful model you know and then trans men are just some bald smelly (body)hairy guy". It's the same type of humor you see from Fairly Odd Parents, made by a cis, super Christian, guy. Like my mind goes back to the episode where everyone was genderbent and all the men were stinky, lazy, and bald and all the women were gorgeous and constantly made up. I've also seen people drag artists from drawing GNC trans people with some of their secondary sex characteristics from birth and thought "if they thought all GNC people have the same standards of visual expression and/or dysphoria as a binary trans person was bad/transphobic, what would they say of me, a binary trans man who doesn't fit that standard either?"
I know this doesn't effect trans men exclusively. I know it is rooted in misogyny and white supremacy and that it effects trans women the worst, especially black trans women. And ofc there is nonbinary people who get ostracized for essentially the opposite, being too masculine or feminine instead of completely androgynous...The need to present gender a specific way when cis people can fuck around with whatever expression they want and still be seen as a man or a woman is so annoying.
I just bring up the relation to trans men because I am one and it's effected me negatively and I wanted to vent I guess. I'm probably never going to pass so this is likely something I will always experience and it's just annoying af. Like I said, I get where it comes from. I come from a shitty ass conservative town and had some of those ideas put in me when I was young. Point is, I unlearned and continue to unlearn them. Not reinforce them. Be it reinforced as a joke or not it's still like...enforcing a very specific type of binary expression be that internally or externally is not cool and it fucks with peoples' heads.
Also this should go without saying but if you want to be a hairy smelly guy, or a supermodel lady who's always made up, and are trans, go for it. Just like, understand where these expressions come from and don't enforce it on others who don't vibe with it. Be that a GNC person, or a binary trans guy like me. We are all human, our experiences are so varied. Don't be the one to make a monolith of the community.
Also also I'm not against Christians inherently, just the ones who are bigoted in anyway, and/or reinforce dated stereotypes like the ones I mentioned in this post.
Thanks for coming to my bnunny talk. (It's like a ted talk but it's coming from a bnunny being perceived as a human and having human experiences)
(C'mon if I don't end my post with something lighthearted I might go insane)
(That shouldn't undercut what me saying makes sense)
