A lot of people consider Steppenwolf’s Born to be Wild the ultimate “biker” song. I disagree.

I think Midnight Rider does a much better job of capturing the feeling of being on the road. The desperation of living on the fringe of society with just enough to get by and a determination to get where you’re going.

But as much as I love the Allman Bros version, Gregg Allman’s solo version is MUCH more haunting!
