Talking about my AU some more. Sea Fairy has the body shape of a long rectangle and she’s kind of embarrassed about it. She tends to compare herself to Moonlight a lot, who happens to be a bit curvier in comparison. She finds everything about Moonlight to be beautiful— her freckled dough, her soft purple eyes, the curve of her cheeks, that starry hair-icing she can literally bury her face in and get lost in. She admires her from afar for quite a bit before ever getting the chance to truly touch, and just seeing her, Sea Fairy understands why people worship what they find beautiful.
But Moonlight is just as taken by Sea Fairy. Moonlight loves her soft, hesitant smiles, the quiet strength hiding in her thin and delicate frame, the shimmering blue candy scales interwoven with her sandstone skin. Moonlight compares Sea Fairy to a shimmering treasure on the shore, and loves to see her in the sunlight, to see the hidden gold and rock-candy quartz shimmer in her crumb, and the way the blues of the water of her hair reflect light through her like crystal.
They find so much to admire in eachother; in Moonlight’s curiosity and gentleness, in Sea Fairy’s quiet nature and contemplative mind. Moonlight is the first to truly touch, to reach out and caress her cheek, and from there it’s like they’re magnetized— pulled together in an instant no matter how long they may have been apart, the moon and the tides.
They are not two halves of a whole, but two whole and powerful forces irrevocably intertwined by their very nature, their respective gravities pulling their fates together until they cannot be untangled. In Sea Fairy, Moonlight finds the quiet beauty of reality, a reason to step outside dreams and find strength and meaning within the waking world. In Moonlight, Sea Fairy finds hope, and the drive to believe that perhaps she can still hold a place in this world despite all she has lost and left behind.
They like to hold eachother— to touch, to worship, to revel in the feeling of finally getting to know eachother.
Perhaps by being together, they are able to stand a little stronger when they are apart.
