long answer? fire spirit has been shown multiple times to not really give much of a care for his duties as a guardian and will disregard them at a moments notice. only truly getting involve if the stakes are high and he has a chance to show off his power and making a flamboyant impression.

not dwelling into crk, his lore (in ovenbreak) highlights his cocky, spiteful and very headstrong attitude, hes not afraid to mock or spout sarcasm towards usually well intentioned advice/orders. and it all stems from his seemingly boundless pride in himself and his power because since he was reborn, that power is what shaped him to who he is now.

he simply doesnt care enough to follow rigid rules and prefers to go by his own beliefs but as we know, being an elemental guardian disregards that in favor for the strict principles of nature. and fire spirit thrives in chaos (check his immocata and lof costumes), hes more on the chaotic neutral square, he can be very ego driven and it shows in how he behaves around mortals verus his fellow guardians.

sage would is essentially fount if he decided to be a proper teacher instead of just being used as google search, he lets truthseekers think for themselves and find their own truth and allows himself to be theatrical and "himself" instead of some higher-than-thou figure.

it is interesting how sage helps tk understand shamil and why he chose his path and how sage can sympathize with him.

+ its now confirmed that one of the reasons why shadow milk is acting the way he is— is because of the ultimate dough.

edited note: they have to find people who TRULY understand shadow milk, the ultimate cookie and the souljams(?) to separate them, as they are intertwined with one another currently, no wonder hes such a mess of emotions rn. sage of truth may be the goat.

the moth is attracted to the flame due to the heat of the light drawing them in, the intense light blinding them, causing erratic flight patterns.

the thing is— moths dont actually want to fly into the fire. thats why its often used to refer to something or someone as "irresistible."

how does this tie into fire spirit and white lily? well...

alright, since these two dont know eachother at all and will probably never meet, im going purely based on headcanons and how the characters are in the story, just so this can somewhat make some sort of sense.

lily is attracted to things she can never seem to physically grasp, always seeming so close just for it to be out of reach once again. no matter how much she craves it.

her persistence is commendable yet concerning, knowing the legths and taboos shes willing to break to achieve something she believes will help everyone to strive towards true freedom. while her ideal is rooted in good intentions, it will either hurt her or the people around her.

she is flawed, heavily so, the entire story is about how her actions lead to devastating consequences and its what makes her who she is.

she is the moth in this scenario because she is someone who lets her intuition and volition lead her curiosity into dangerous circumstances that will inevitably harm her in the process. whether fate deems necessary.

now for fire spirit... oh boy. fs craves connection with others, really does. but due to his flames (and partially his tendency to push others away), he cant have that, at least in his eyes.

often the nature of his element and how feared it is, most people tend to cower in his presence, which he finds delight in, his authority as a guardian fuels his ego. but there are some who either: dont take him seriously at first or underestimate his power, which he despises.

he cannot afford to get attached and often feels the need to control his flames around people to avoid seeming like a threat even when he doesnt want to. (seen in alot of his lines of dialogue and interactions)

he is the flame in this scenario because he is someone that people cannot get close to without risking hurting someone in the process, as it is in its nature to do so.

both are characters who have been hurt by nature and fate, and came out of that as completly different people. fs and lily are vastly different yet share a lot of similarities. mainly them both being misunderstood by those around them and feeling the need to prove to themselves and others. both can be read as being "egotistical and arrogant" which is true, but that isnt what defines all of them.

not only that but they also parallel icarus in a way.

"dont fly too low, or the waves of the ocean will catch you and you will die. but of course, dont fly too high either, or the heat of the sun will melt the wax in your wings amd theyll fall apart, and you will plummet down and die in the ocean."

kind of funny how both lily amd fs left to their demise because of their ambition and search for purpose, right?

weve been shown how much theyre willing to protect others over themselves and how despite their hubris led to their tragic demise, they were able to preserve and be reborn anew.

to be free is to confront your destiny head on no matter what risks it may entail. freedom is such a big part of these twos character and its what makes them so compelling.

i dont think theyre a simple "i can fix them", "he makes me laugh" or "yapper x listener." since placing them in those simple dynamic and not dwelling deep into their stories just washes them down to fit inside a single box that should define who they are as a whole.
