“Ghosts are real” I can see how you could believe that
“Ghosts aren’t real” it’s very fair and rational that you believe that
“Ghosts aren’t real anymore” I’m about to hear a poem or very sad story
“Ghosts aren’t real yet” the fuck are you going to do

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
A lot of art of characters fighting against fascism is being made and it’s awesome to see! Anyone saying they wouldn’t do that don’t understand the characters at all, because they’ve all had to go up against authoritarians of some kind or another.
Okay look, I'm not gonna claim that Danny Phantom was the pinnacle of feminism or diversity, but I do like how the show let so many of its female characters be objective badasses in various ways. And despite all my complaints with how the show sidelined her, I do love that Val was a thick Black girl who was feminine, attractive, and a badass all at once.
That's probably more thanks to top notch character designer Stephen Silver than anything else. The man sure knows how to make a sexy woman who can kick your ass.
So he has a chip to make his PDA into a Gameboy Advance? I don't know of anything else we'd call a GBA.

i get this question a lot: it’s letters from wordsmith
Adds letters from the Latin, Hiragana, and Katakana alphabets, as well as numbers and a few symbols, into the creature, building, and vehicl

The Fright Before Christmas and the Holiday Truce
So, I'm going to be completely honest here. The main reason it's taken me so long to cover this episode in particular is that I don't have much to say about it. I think it's mostly fine. I do appreciate that the writers wrote an original story instead of going the easy route and doing A Christmas Carol. It has built-in ghosts, and they already made Danny a Scrooge. But no, they created a character in The Ghost Writer, and they used the Christmas theme to tell us more about the characters. That's great. However, it is mostly that. It's just a Danny Phantom Christmas special. There aren't many particularly interesting revelations.
There is one, however.
I'm a little mixed on the inclusion of smartphones and streaming in A Glitch In Time. On the one hand, it'd be weird for modern audiences to not see these things in a comic like this, but on the other hand, Danny Phantom is very much a relic of its time. It's extremely early 2000s.
Things like Tucker being considered a geek for being into technology, the specific music tastes, the fashion, and the understanding of goth culture are all due to it being a show from and set in the early 2000s. A lot of the character archetypes, such as the goofy cartoon dad, are also tropes common in shows of the time. It makes me a little sad that the comics didn't lean into the early 2000s nostalgia. As someone who was around the age of Danny and his friends when the show was airing, there's a lot about it that I personally connected with.
That said, I do understand why it might be a little weird for new readers if there weren't smartphones. I dunno. This is just my opinion.
these days consist primarily of thinking how fucking cool it is that in Danny Phantom. it. it isn't "i need to keep my identity secret so my villains won't hurt my family". its. "the villains know and dont care about my identity, i need my identity to protect myself against my family" LIKE GOD???
obviously there's heroes, especially other teenage heroes, who are scared because they have some freaky new ability but USUALLY NOT "its my profession to dissect the thing my child is" like GOD

I’m at my limit.
I don’t know if anyone cares or remembers but last year I made a kind of aggressive post regarding localtransvamp. People asked what happened but I didn’t wish to talk about it further unless I needed to, and we’ve reached that point.
Last year, localtransvamp and I got into a bit of a heated discussion in the comments of a post. I can’t show them because I didn’t take screenshots at the time, I didn’t feel I needed to, and their account being deactivated means the comments aren’t there anymore to begin with. Apologies for that. The discussion was about how they felt about Janus. I don’t have their direct words because again, I don’t have those comments, but I do have these screenshots of an ask they sent
I tried to explain that all of how they were perceiving Janus wasn’t intentional, and that I didn’t mean for it to come across that way. I’m not proud of it, but I will admit I was being a bit aggressive with them at this point. For a while before this point localtransvamp would send a lot of asks about how I was writing characters and certain actions they would take, to the point where, despite me trying to explain my reasoning, I decided it best to just block them since it didn’t seem like they had any intention of listening and it was genuinely upsetting. Later on someone came along and passed a message to me about how they wanted to apologize for how they acted.
I took this in good faith and unblocked them. I saw no reason to hold anything against them at that point. But that’s why, if anyone saw the discussion, I was coming off rather aggressively because despite the apology and me unblocking them, they had begun to do this again but with Janus. I can’t say 100% that these anons were them, but based on the wording and their interpretation of Janus’ character I believe so. I could be wrong, but this wasn’t the first time they had sent paragraphs about a character acting in an unfavorable way. Their comments went on to be rather aggressive and frantic, and admittedly I could have responded better. But I didn’t. My response was aggressive in return, and I’m not going to try and hide that.
Genuinely, all of the issues they were bringing up about Janus were incredibly unintentional. In no way did I intend to come off as ableist or supportive of any nazi-esque views. I didn’t think I needed to clarify that how my characters acted was not a reflection of me, but they felt differently. They felt I had wrong them in some way.
If I did I genuinely am sorry, that was not my intent. After this point they had blocked me, but this was brought to my attention
By this point I had said nothing more on the matter. I had said nothing publicly about them, or tried to lie about how I acted. Everything(at the time) was in the open. It wasn’t until they brought up Mini Q did I made this post. Again, it’s very aggressive. I’m not proud of it, but I never deleted it because I wasn’t going to hide how I felt. I believe even before the post was made their blog was gone, but all I have is word of mouth from other users so I’m not entirely sure about this.
All of this to leads us to now. I don’t remember how long ago it was now but @commewnity posted some anons bringing it up once again, claiming that I had chased localtransvamp off of tumblr and that I supported everything they claimed. I was frustrated, it ate at me, so I did ask them to remove the posts, even offering to clarify what happened, but received no response.
I did my best to move on from it, they didn’t talk too much about me and I had more important things to worry about.
That is until the other day. A new blog, @salty-commewnity, was brought to my attention and once again they were discussing the above events. I tried not to care, but the blog seem to instead shift focus to talking about how I treat my daughter. It’s pretty well know by this point that I’m very tired. I haven’t gotten much sleep, maybe at most 4-6 hours of very broken sleep, since thanksgiving. So seeing all of this honestly made me angry. I asked again if the posts could be removed, and I’ll admit I was very aggressive about it but please understand this is them speculating on how I treat my daughter, yet I was met with
and blocked.
I don’t know what they’re up to now, but I refuse to sit on this any longer. I know posting this is risky, that they’ll claim I’m sending people to hate on them or something, but I don’t care. I don’t think it’s fair that I have to sit by quietly while people imply that I would ever harm my daughter because I was angry with someone publicly once. View me negatively, unfollow me after reading all this, I don’t care. I don’t want to and I won’t be silent about this. I’m not trying to hide anything. All I want is for things to be clear.
I think it goes to say that you do NOT go after a child.
I do not care if you hate me. I do not care if you are insistent on exaggerating and lying about me.
I care when you do the same to my friends, i care when you lie, degrade and bullshit your interactions because your butthurt.
How fucking DARE you, to bring in a child- a BABY because youre a little bitch that got upset about some other people.
I don't give a fuck what the rest of you peeps think, but who in their right mind goes after a child? Abandoning a blog to go to another when you have the same damned writing style and same stupid ass arguments.
Sorry for the Drama people, but I lost it at hurting my friend and bringing their child into this.
I try to keep serious topics off my page but this is important. You can make up grievances about me if it makes you feel better, I’m an adult I can deal with it.
You do not bring someone’s real family into your pretend grievances about pretend characters and you leave real children out of it
this will be the last I talk about this either
I would like to put down my argument that Vlad is wearing eyeliner, and this is not just tired eyes/eye-bags. This doesn't negate that he might have dark under-eyes as well, but this is definitely eyeliner.
Exhibit A:
The line around Vlad's eyes are thick and solid black.
We know for a fact that they can and will animate dark under-eyes, as we see with Danny in Control Freaks here:
See! That's not eyeliner, that is the tired eyes look. This is shading, rather than a thick solid line.
Freakshow clearly has eyeliner, and this is not a leap of judgment, seeing as he is explicitly goth.
So when you compare Freakshow's obviously meant to be eyeliner, and look at Vlad, it is very clear that he's wearing eyeliner.
Now his isn't as thick as Freakshow's and the thickness depends on the frame, but it's clearly thicker than other adult characters. See Maddie in this same scene:
So there. This is my submission. Vlad is an edgelord and he's wearing eyeliner and we love that for him.
Do you think Vlad and Sam use the same brand?
I'm so sorry for adding more to this but some of these tags just slap too damn hard
Bonus:
but i'm also not sorry at all
my yearly struggle
here is my gift-buying advice,. it NEVER steers me wrong. i got it from an episode of News Radio where andy dick buys Bill Gates a ball of twine. if you have someone to buy a ift for who doesnt need anything and hasnt ASKED for anything:
dont buy them what they want. people want garbage. you want garbage,. and then when you get it you dont like it. dont ask them what they want either, they dont know. you want to get them something they will not buy for themselves
think about what they would actually use. this can be a replacement for something they used to use that broke, but not an 'upgrade' unless they have specifically expressed wanting a new one. do not buy anything that could be construed as you criticising their way of doing something. if tthey are currently doing something the wrong way and are aware there is a right way but dont do it, there's a reason
think about what they have room in their space to store. when you give someone a gift it becomes an obligation to them regardless of how much they like the gift. they have to store it, look at it, and interact with it, they have to thank you for it too. keep this in mind. small or flat and non-fragile items are best. for example if someone expresses a desire for a houseplant, i will often give them a clone of one of my impossible to kill grandmother plants and then tell them go ahead and kill it, there's plenty more where that one came from and the mother plant doesnt care. never give someone an obligation or strings attached to a gift unless you hate them. do not ask them if they like it or if they're using it afterwards, either. they'll tell you if they do. if not it's better to let it slide
think about situations where they coudl easily and pleasantly use this gift but which they have not thought of themselves. for example your straight male roommate probably doesnt have a fucking bathrobe
think about things they already choose to spend time on and enjoy. for example, my mom said she was starting to think about her novel but didnt know where to start. i bought her a pack of really nice index cards and told her about Nabokov's method of writing sentences and then freely arranging them. index cards are good for everything, not just novel writing. theyre cheap, flat, dont expire, and are visually neutral, and cheap. plus she likes stationery a lot anyway. GREAT gift.
keep it cheap (again this is for someone who doesnt want/need anything). expensive gifts are too much of an obligation for everyone involved and usually more stressful than helpful unless someone needs something specific (like a computer or phone)
do not buy them anything decorative. decorations are way too personal. the expectation is that they have to display it in their house forever or you might get your feelings hurt. bad gift
"i really liked this item/product/tool so i got one for you too because you have the same use case that i do" is a really good gift if you know this is the situation. for example maybe you and your sister have the same skin tone and you found a blush that looks great on your skin. maybe you and your friend both like fountain pens and you found an ink you really like. maybe you and your mom both get migraines and you found an icepack you really like. etc.
SUMMARY: buy them something they havent thought of themselves, wont buy for themselves, but have a pre-existing use case for. you will look like a genius and get lots and lots of thank yous. keep it small and inexpensive and easy to throw away/store/hide in case they politely do not like it. that's my method and it has never failed me since ive started doing it

not to be too 'kids these days' but boy the notes on that post about whether it's OK to ship things that the creator(s) of a work do not endorse are depressing. people have got waaaaaaaaaaaaay too comfortable with the idea that fandom and fanworks are things that creators should engage with and know about, let alone - good grief - exert some degree of control over. where is my fandom fourth wall, where has it gone
