Sanity has left the building
I decided to get back into writing by doing drabbles.
Okay! Great, I have six fandoms. 100-word stories. This sounds perfect. Manageable, innit.
There’s a catch, though, there’s always a catch. Always a trap. I did not see the trap until it was too late. Fifty drabbles per fandom sounded… polite. Apologetic. “Hello would you like a very small bundle of vignettes?” At which point I thought: one hundred!
One hundred times one hundred = ten thousand. Nice.
And then I saw the trap. One hundred prompts is boring. My brain is not built like this. So then I had to fix this because sixty thousand words of drabbles did not feel like it rowed my boat. In fact, it didn’t even get the boat on the water. So, I’ve concluded with:
Brokenwood Mysteries: 190 drabbles.
Doctor Who: 319 drabbles.
Midsomer Murders: 199 drabbles.
Pretty Little Liars: 160 drabbles.
Vampire Diaries: 171 drabbles.
Yes. This tallied to 1,260. Yes, that equals 126,000 words. Yes, I write one thing and fresh ideas spawn like I-don’t-know-whats. And yes, I began my degree less than a month ago. Frankly, I blame the entire winter chill, it’s slowing down my bloodflow and impacting my ideas.
On the bright side, degree’s going well.
