● The SCP foundation ended up finding out about the trio both after the Jadusable situation, but also after ~20 more people had already died as a result of BEN's actions

● see, here BEN hunts victims in mainly 3 ways:

1) they have something to do with the Moon Children Cult, and in that case usually stayed within a certain range of the area where Ben was murdered

○ in which case they appear as a physical cartridge in that area or wherever they end up and lure them in with a sort of aura (which only works in this specific scenario, as they were usually involved in Ben's death

○ something something about their guilt (either directly or by association) and him being able to manipulate that to lead them to their own terrible fates

2) victims AI BEN chooses for whatever reason, mainly through the digital world - which is harder to trace through more traditional means, as he's more like an independent virus than something that comes from a specifc source

3) victims of BEN's mood and spontaneous decisions to target random people

How did the SCP Foundation find out about / hunt down BEN?

● the SCP foundation had already gathered / figured out that there's a reoccurring pattern of BEN targeting victims in that specific area they seem to either haunt especially or have a specific vendetta against

● after excluding victims who appeared outside about a hundred mile radius where victim IP adresses were mainly centered around,

● they did further investigating and noted that the few victims in this range who reported about their lives prior to dying or who had others who witnessed their declines reoccuringly noted the involvement of a certain cartridge

● the foundation personel then pieced together that the Majora's Mask cartrige tended to appear in yard sales, thrift stores, etc

● they combed through them using disguised personel and manage to intercept the cartridge while it's making its way to the next planned victim

At the Facility:

● At first the Ben, BEN, and BEN are just biding their time and trying to access what's happening

● they refuse to respond to initial prompting or show much indication of their presence even when the Foundation sets up a secured room with an N64, a TV, a controller and a D-class personel to try and establish contact

● the game is played by the live in D-class every day, who has no other choice but to live in the same containment room and do as they're told

● it takes months, but the facility is more patient than expected and kept digging for more information on what they are even after getting the cartridge

● the tactic of trying to appear like a "normal" game eventually becomes a bit pointless when the facility researchers gain a hint of the connection between the game, Ben and the Moon Children Cult

● but they don't like having to concede, so they refuse to verify the assertion by revealing themselves until about a month later

● eventually they get tired of waiting around and start to finally interact with the game, messing with the time in it, setting Link on fire, etc

● when the facility starts trying to more forcibly establish contact, that's when they respond with more genuine aggression

● they start haunting more obviously, no longer limiting themselves to the game's confines

● the D-class, who is still alive, still lives in the containment cell and sleeps in the same area with BEN

● and he starts to experience the full scope of BEN haunting them, including sporadic appearances from Ben, the cryptic nightmares, and constant psychological torment

● but none of it ever gets documented through electronic means. It never shows up on camera or attempted recordings.

● instead, screens used for observation give off no audio and show only static

● the laughter of the Happy Mask Salesman sometimes echoes from the speakers at random

They try to monitor things in person after that, but the BENs refuse to do anything when watched directly by observers. Eventually they have to just rely on the reports of the D-class.

● the facility staff decide to remove all electronics after this, now realizing the extent to which they can manipulate them

● as we'll see later tho its already too late for that by this point

● as was expected, things eventually escalate and the D-class ends up hanging himself with the wires of the N64 controller

● the walls of the cell are covered in bloody messages of "you shouldn't have done that," and "you've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

● the D-class made them shortly before his death using his own blood

●.......

● after gaining some more insights by studying the victims outside of the concentrated range, the facility starts trying to communicate by mainly attempting to talk with Ben and AI BEN (as they have now finally established that there's multiple entities here rather than just one)

● neither of which are particularly keen to respond

● Ben specifically because he's incoherent most of the time anyways

● even when he isn't the imprisonment agitates, always leaving him on the verge of poltergiest levels,

● also he can tell when someone's trying to manipulate him and the researchers are treating him like a thing

● in a more ideal approach their attempts to speak with him would successfully appeal to his humanity, etc but the situation is set up to fail given the context

● mainly because they imprisoned him, AI BEN is whispering in his ear and it prevents any truly neutral discussion, and finally..

● he's also not really consciously there often enough for their attempted communications to reach a proper breakthrough!

● even when he DOES manifest he's usually incoherent, or following D-class around in the game and messing with it, or just becomes flat out violent as a poltergiest

● also, any attempt to speak to him about the Moon Children simply does not go well, making him further distrusting / angry

● the cartridge disappears from the facility shortly afterwards, but not before many inside meet with a terrible fate

● after a long time of being poked and prodded at, and attempts at destroying the cartridge (which causes more deaths, this time from poltergeist Ben lashing out) eventually AI BEN reveals that he's already long since infected the devices in the facility with himself

Looks:

◇ has what most people think are a very startling pair of blue eyes, but they're actually grey and just look blue under certain lights / angles.

◇ just very piercing to look at, which makes sense because if he's looking at someone / something for longer than a second it's usually because he's very focused

◇ They contrast really well with his black hair, which is pretty flat and usually kinda unkempt because he pays little attention to his appearance

◇ since he's mainly stalking about at night or napping and similarly spends the days sleeping + painting, I think he'd be pretty pale. If he did go out in the sun he would get nicely tanned fairly quickly, but he just doesn't

◇ he's an abnormally slim guy for someone who is always using ropes to hang people upside down in trees to get his "paint"

◇ you would think he'd have more muscle, but really he's just good at leveraging pulley systems that can be used to take the burden of needing to be strong enough for that

◇ I personally think he very much fits into the "starving artist" stereotype, at least as far as his appearance goes

◇ But not so much in the way of not being able to access food, I just think he prioritizes his art over treating his body like it's human and needs to be fed / cared for

◇ I think he'd look a bit dainty because of this, which causes people to underestimate him more than they should

◇ i personally think he'd have a sharp / sharp and an especially thin "roman nose" with a bumped bridge, but all his features are thinned out in general

◇ he's generally looks kinda fragile, and spending most of his time stuck in his studio has NOT helped him

◇ people tend to write him off as a threat because he's not that physically imposing, not realizing how strategic he is

Personality:

◇ I think he'd be extremely reserved.

◇ Much more of a person who watches others in the background of a room without commentibe than someone who wants to actively involve themselves in discussions

◇ this isn't because he doesn't have anything to say, but he's very introverted by nature while also being very judgemental

◇ he's very critical of others internally, which he gets away with by not actually having to interact much

◇ I do think some of the Creeps pick up on it though, especially those like Jeff or Sally who can sorta sense hostility. Jeff because he's looking for a fight, Sally because she doesn't want to experience one.

◇ Most would have a neutral opinion on him though, though some would definitely think he's odd.

◇ I do think he's a thoughtful person though, and when he does like someone I think he'd treat them as something to hoard.

◇ Specifically, I think he's possessive and a bit territorial, which you can guess at from how defensive he gets over his art and just generally how intense he can be about things he cares about

◇ The extent to which he does that kinda depends on the level to which he likes someone though.

◇ An acquaintance? He'd only talk to them in a room full of strangers.

◇ A close friend? He's glaring at people who interupt his time with them. He will do it out of sight depending on whether or not the friend would care.

◇ A lover? That's his muse and if he sees you staring for too long he can and will stab you. Not right in front of other people or anything, because he's more strategic than that (and he is NOT winning a fight where he doesn't have the advantage of surprise).

◇ he's very loyal and keeps a very VERY small circle and I think he'd be very defensive over it, which as you can see here is a double edged sword

◇ But yeah I would not be walking around after dark alone for at least a week after. PLUS I would say don't sleep alone for a while.

◇ I do think he can be very petty, especially based on what I remember of his origin story.

◇ Strangely enough I also think he would have a very hidden soft spot for pretty and cute things. Specifically rabbits and nature.

◇ At the same time, I also think he values his art obsessively over all else and most people would know very little about him outside of his intensity for it

◇ I think more extreme personalities would ignore him, and more quiet ones would be more likely to be familiar with him.

◇ it's really the other especially "weird" figures even amongst the Creeps who he would befriend

◇ like Kagekao, Puppeteer, Jason the Toymaker, and etc

◇ people who will tolerate him and even find his persobality endearing / amsuing even if they have deeper insights into how he can be

◇ he's generally not a very pleasant person unless he already likes you, but even then he can be a little irritating due to his particularity

How violent is he?

◇ depends on what Helen thinks of a person

◇ if you've pissed him off or irritated him in some way, him killing you is primarily about his personal satisfaction in doing so and then using your blood as paint is a side note to that

◇ I think he'd be very violent in that case, more depending on how irritated he is

◇ like stabbing someone repeatedly and especially in places where he knows it'll hurt more

◇ he's studied medical textbooks for anatomical studies purposes, art and otherwise. Helen WILL make you bleed out slowly and painfully.

◇ outside of that he's either going to kill someone in their sleep very quickly with a more "humane" method like smothering them with a pillow and or slitting their throat

◇ if he's really desperate or just sees a good opportunity, he'll blitz attack someone at night and drag them off to kill them

◇ the goal for Helen is usually to get "paint," and killing is something he considers more an associated task than anything else

◇ it's not very personal in his eyes, even though he's murdering them

◇ which he is entirely aware of, though I think he has a sort of delusion prone personality / mind

◇ either way he usually prioritizes efficiency, which means its in his best interest to kill someone more quickly rather than dragging things out or being messy about it

◇ he's also doesn't have the strength or stamina for prolonged fights

◇ all of this also means that he targets single persons, not families or shared households

◇ it's less risky for him

Other:

◇ Helen doesn't like grapes btw. If you nag him about it he will insist that they taste too sweet. He loves sweets. His opinion on grapes doesn't make any logical sense but this is supposedly his reasoning anyways

◇ I think he prefers to paint when he's in a good mood, so when he does paint he's pretty calm and reflective

◇ his studio will be full of reference photos, usually of forests and mountains, pictures of birds, deer, etc

◇ Helen likes nature and classical music a lot, finds both calming and meditative

◇ and I do think he'd keep some piano music playing very quietly, just loud enough to hear while still being able to focus on his work

◇ it's one of those rare moments where he's very happy, as he really does deeply love his art despite with the deeply gruesome nature of it

◇ Helen doesn't really acknowledge how terrible the things he does are, though, as he doesn't fully believe that what he does to other people to get his "paint" is wrong

◇ he puts art on a pedestal, and in Helen's own delusional thoughts he believes that anything he does to reach the goal of creating the perfect art is inheritly justified

◇ to him, art is one of the few things that truly matters in this world (for him)

◇ even murdering other people to create art is "noble" for him

◇ it's not that he's wholly unable to see the reality of his actions tho, he both just doesn't fully care even if he knows it's wrong

◇ you very much can talk with him and have relatively normal conversations (if he's willing to talk to you), but that kinda of thinking brings an intensity that can't be fully ignored

◇ honestly it's a better idea to steer clear of the topic, just because you don't necessarily want to agitate him without meaning to

◇ Especially if you don't know what you're talking about and try to sound like you do

◇ Helen will get more intense and rant about the subject, and once he gets going it's hard to change his focus

◇ but if you have an earnest appreciation for art he will pick up on that and respect you more for it, even if you don't know much about it

◇ he might kill someone for having a bad enough art take tho, so again you bring up the subject at your own risk

◇ despite all this he's shockingly rather normal beyond the things that make him one of the Creeps
