Crack fic idea Peter applies for a Stark internship pre-Civil war and he ends up getting it but he accidentally ghosts them and never ends up responding. Peter feels really bad about it but by the time he remembered he needed to answer the message he felt like it has been to long so he just never responds. Then comes Civil War where Tony shows up and is like "I have an internship offer for you" Peter starts to panic and is like "oh shit I ghosted them so hard they sent Tony Stark to get me to accept" but this causes him to panic even MORE to where he runs away from Tony cuz he's like "I've ghosted them this long it be to weird to work for them now" so Tony is left in the apartment confused and now REALLY wants to talk to this kid cuz wtf was that. And then the rest of the fic is shenanigans of Peter trying to avoid Tony in more extreme ways and Tony trying to contact Peter in more extreme ways.

Everyone says Tony would do anything for Peter, especially after he lost him, but maybe we could take that further…
Peter blearily opened his eyes, taking in the orange skies and haunted landscape around him.
His mind was rearranging his memories, understanding falling into place as he heard a woman nearby.
“Something’s happening.”
When he turned to look to her, he saw the Bug Lady that was friends with Big Peter and the Alien dude. She was standing just behind him, looking out into the distance.
As he instinctively looked toward where she stared, the harsh wind he could feel making the rough planet seem even more desolate, he had the errant thought that Mr. Stark should be here.
Before he could ruminate on that particular revelation, he watched as Doctor Strange (the wizard, a voice in his head supplied) waved his arms and opened a portal, beckoning them through.
As soon as Peter had steadied himself on Earth, all he wanted to do was lay down and find Mr. Stark. But he knew, looking around at all of the heroes gathering around, (soldiers, that same voice whispered,) he had bigger things to worry about.
At the same moment that thought came and went, just as he was fortifying himself for another long battle, something hard slammed into his side, wrapping around his short frame until he was sure this wasn’t an attack.
Glancing at as much as he could, the absurd idea that this was Mr. Stark bounced around his mind. (Tony, the voice chimed again.)
“Peter, oh my god, Peter, you’re here.” He heard mumbled into his hair, the arms tightening around him.
“Mr. Stark? What do you mean? I was with you just a minute ago and now you’re-“ Peter could feel the words freeze in his throat as he got his first real look at Mr. Stark.
The man was older, grey overtaking the sides of his dark brown hair and beard.
But that wasn’t the strangest part.
The normal red and gold had been replaced by dark grey steel and a deep, deep green cape.
For a moment, Peter thought it wasn’t his Mr. Stark, but who else could it be?
This man looked at him with teary eyes, the harsh lines on his face softening for what had to have been the first time in a long time.
“Mr. Stark? What happened-“
He was cut off by a hand cradling the side of his face, the older man (older than he should be, sadder than he should be) heaving a sigh of relief so deep that Peter couldn’t imagine he had been the catalyst.
“It’s so good to see you, bud.” And no matter how strange it was, Peter found himself falling into his mentor’s arms, the rest could be figured out later.
“Stark.” Captain America’s voice cut through the moment, and Peter looked up to find him standing nearby with the Black Widow. The Captain’s voice was sharper than he had ever heard it, even in Germany when they were fighting each other.
“Yeah, yeah, Rogers. Keep your pants on.” Mr. Stark’s voice was low, more threatening than the teasing words should allow, and Peter didn’t understand.
“Thank you, for bringing them back. But this doesn’t change-“
“I didn’t do it for them.” Peter watched as the two stared at each other, one filled with regret and pity, hard lines and harsh eyes. The other, Mr. Stark, so different from how he looked yesterday, and even two minutes ago, resentment and guilt built around him like a shield.
Captain America’s eyes flickered to Peter, stood half a step behind this new Mr. Stark, and something unrecognizable flashed through his eyes.
“Is this him? Peter?”
One of Mr. Stark’s hand came back, pushing Peter that smaller bit closer behind him.
“You don’t get to ask me that. Not anymore.” The ease of the aggression in the older man’s voice told Peter that this was their normal, but he couldn’t help but feel it wasn’t his normal.
He didn’t understand what was going on.
He watched from behind Mr. Stark’s form as the Captain seemed to tense before a harsh furrow contorted the righteous look in his eyes.
“You’re the one who left, Stark. You’re the one who switched sides.”
“You left first!! You said if we failed, we’d do that together. And where were you? Huh?” Mr. Stark seemed to take a deep breath to compose himself, one hand still blocking Peter from the war hero and the other seeming to be powering up for something, though with whatever this new suit was, Peter wasn’t sure what it was. “And what is it with you and sides, huh? This isn’t a Disney movie.”
The captain seemed to take his own moment to compose himself, just before an alien creature landed next to him, reminding them where they were, what fierce battle lay before them, and after taking down the creature with a single blow, he met Mr. Stark’s eyes with a haunting resignation, “This doesn’t change anything. After this battle has been won, and the universe is safe, you will still be enemy number one, Doctor Doom.”
As the battle finally began to catch up to them, Peter turned to his mentor, the man that he believed would always be his own personal hero, fear and confusion swirling in his brown eyes as they met a version of the ones he’d known so long ago, harder and meaner than he’d ever seen them.
“What is he talking about, Mr. Stark? And Doctor what-?” He was cut off by a hand on his shoulder, and he looks up to see a glimpse of the man he knows, before he speaks as if Peter had any inkling as to what was happening.
“A lot has changed since we’ve seen each other, kiddo. I’ve done a lot of things you’ll probably hate me for, but it’s all for you, Peter. Everything I’ve done since the day I lost you, all of it was for you.” The man’s helmet comes down over his face, and Peter can’t help but think it was made to look as intimidating as it is.
When his voice next filtered through Peter’s mangled brain, it was deeper, more robotic. Scary. “We’ve just gotta get through this war, finally kill that purple bastard, and maybe…” The face of Doctor Doom, the glowing green eyes and harsh metal, stared into Peter’s, and the thought suddenly came to him that he didn’t know if he could believe Mr. Stark anymore. “…everything will be okay.”
Can someone just tell Kevin Feige know that the entire problem with New Marvel could be fixed if they just made a pre-Infinity Wars Disney+ series following Tony Stark irondadding™ and Peter Parker spidersonning™??? (Bonus points if they include Shuri/Dr. Banner/Harley Keener doing science stuff!!!)
Fans (aka me) would totally eat it up. There doesn't even need to be a plot. Just give me some hilarious sarcasm, pop culture references, some hair ruffling... I'd singlehandedly watch the series on loop enough times to guarantee it does not flop.
AU where Tony gets Peter’s blood somehow, maybe he got injured and needed a transfusion? Somehow, he receives Peter’s blood that he keeps in storage for studying, and wakes up with four arms and six eyes. He mutates differently to Peter, so he gets super senses without strength or stickiness or something. Shenanigans probably ensue.
I luv the concept of after FFH (MCU AU where everything is okay and perfect and May and Tony live and beck never happened and no Morgan. The London trip still happened, just no Beck.)
Y’know how Pete tried to compliment mj? (‘…You look pretty..’ ‘Therefore I have value?’)
Y’know?
Peter, later on in their relationship, as the absolutely pretty boy he is, would use that same line on her.
Tony, who was in a coma when those two kids got together. Is terrified of Michelle….and very confused by why this boy is saying ‘And therefore I have value?’ Every time his girlfriend, who is also pretty but just doesn’t try—neither of them do—, compliments him.
May? May knows. Happy knows. Pepper knows. Mj knows. Peter knows.
Tony does not.
Also, Tony is very confused by the relationship.
Michelle Jones-Watson, sure she’s very smart, pretty—even if she prefers to look like a hobo, is a cynical young girl. Dry dark humor. Chronically unimpressed. Into dark shit. Obsessed with true crime.
Peter Parker, awkward. Frantic. Overly-energetic.
They’re total opposites.
Tony, had thought maybe the kid would have some crush on a sweet nice girl. Like…that Gwen kid.
Not her. Who, Peter had apparently confessed to by giving her a Black Dahlia necklace. From Italy. While they were in Venice.
Y’know, like the murder.
Even now, years later. She still wears it. Everyday.
In the back of his mind tony is like ‘I was in on the verge of death, in a coma, and the freshly resurrected kid apparently decides to get a girlfriend??’
It’s like the plot of a campy indie movie.
‘Young grieving traumatized teen boy, newly resurrected vigilante after five year death. Mentor in hospital, on fhe verge of death. Struggling with his own violent dark side. When suddenly, his life turns right side up, on a faithful trip to Italy. They were opposites. She loved the mysteries of true crime, he loved her. A story about grief, patriarchy, vigilantism, Italy, romance, young love, black dahlia necklaces’

One of the most under appreciated MCU Spider-Man clips is the one where Happy is lowkey mocking Peter for it being his first time on a plane because he’s so annoyed by the fact he has to watch this hyperactive enhanced child and all I can imagine is the eventual embarrassment once he gets the run down from Tony that his ward was literally orphaned via plane crash.
MIND YOU PETER WAS ACTUALLY FREAKING OUT IN HIS VLOG CLIPS ITS SO FUNNY MAY COME GET YOUR NEPHEW 😭
———
Happy: what is it your first time flying a on private jet?
Peter: oh actually it’s my first time on an any plane! Haha…
Happy: …
Peter: …
Happy: ???
Peter: :/
———
Peter: do we get to meet the pilot?
Happy: oh no this is a self-flying plane.
Peter…this is a What?
———
Happy: are you gonna sit right there? Right next to me?
Peter: yes.
Happy standing to find a different seat
Peter: wait-
———
Peter horrified: should it be making that noise?
Happy asleep: …
Peter: …
———
Tony: soooo how did the flight go?
Happy: huh? It went fine.
Tony: Kay, I was just asking because you know…
Happy : ???
Tony: well since the kid might have been a little jumpy with the whole dead parents thing.
Happy: …
Tony: I mean there isn’t exactly another way to get to Germany so he was gonna have to deal with it but kids tend to be over sensitive about that kind of stuff-
Happy: …
Tony: And I strictly drive my own cars so I can understand he might not wanna fly in the vehicle that his parents died in.
Happy: …
———
Peter staring at the screen of his phone flabbergasted that Happy is actually calling him
Peter: ??? Hello?
Happy wide awake at 2 in the morning mortified:…I’m so sorry about the plane thing.
Tony here called Peter to tell him that "Great things are about to happen". But then he heard the ferry and was like, what is happening.
And my theory is that Tony was gonna tell Peter to move upstate with him and give him the new suit, maybe tell him about his room in the compound. I mean Tony wouldn't sell the tower and move upstate and leave Peter there.

When Pepper was with Tony in his last seconds, he smiled at her. But then he realized that Peter wasn't beside her or anywhere close. So he slightly tilted his head searching for Peter with a whisper "kid?". Peter was actually on the other side from Tony, and he probably heard it because of his enhanced senses.
He wanted Peter to be infront of him with Pepper, as the last thing he'll be able to see.
The last thing Tony ever mentioned was his kid, Peter Parker.
Peter's phone keeps vibrating where he left it on the workshop desk to get snacks, and Tony really wasn't trying to snoop—he was just going to mute it. Really. Truly actually very absolutely did not intend to see who was blowing up the kid's phone, until the phone lit up with another text as he was putting it to silent mode.
Pookie 😍😚
PLS BABY WHERE R U 😭🙏💔💔
Tony pauses out of sheer shock, more texts still rolling in.
Pookie 😍😚
YOU PROMISED ME 6PM ITS LITERALLY 6:02 WHY DO YOU HATE MEEEE
ur lucky ur so handsome otherwise I'd blow your house up 💖
but srsly gumdrop I'm spiralling, I need you 🥺🥺🥺
Should Tony be concerned? Tony is very concerned.
The teen in question strolls on in with his hand in a bag of pretzels, not a care in the world.
The phone is still vibrating in Tony's hand.
"Pete?"
"Mhm?" Peter hums, still focused on stuffing his mouth to the absolute brim.
"Why didn't you tell me about your girlfriend?"
His pursed and salted lips freeze, making eye contact with Tony before slowly setting the snack bag down.
"Ma wha?"
The phone vibrates once more, and this time both Peter and Tony's gazes drop to it.
Tony moves the phone behind his back a millisecond before Peter makes a lunge for it.
"Hey!"
Tony spins away from his grabby hands to read the screen.
"Who's 'Pookie', with a heart eyes emoji and kissy face emoji then?"
"It's not—! Oh. That's just Ned."
"You're dating Ned? Which is fine...actually no, it's not! Boy or girl, talking to you like this is not healthy."
"What?"
Tony lets the phone go without protest this time, Peter's mild confusion soothing his worry as opposed to the sharp defensiveness earlier that had only tightened Tony's grip on the device. Peter isn't shy about texting the other boy back in plain view either, showing the barrage of missed texts, emojis, and exclamations that had nearly vibrated the phone off the table.
"Oh shoot, I promised Ned we'd do fortnite duos tonight and I'm late."
"What is that? Like a Gen-z version of samba?"
Peter huffs out a laugh as he types furiously. "It's a video game where we shoot people. Ned is just my best friend, that's how we talk."
"That is not how best friends talk."
"Tell that to your platypus."
"I—okay, that's different. It's teasing, not romantic." Tony argues as he thinks about his and Rhodey's friendship.
"How? You literally kiss him."
Peter sets the phone back down as he goes to collect his backpack, shoving papers and spare parts chaotically into his bag.
"On the cheek! ...If I don't miss."
Peter throws the strap over his shoulder and heads over to the abandoned pretzel bag, fisting the crinkling plastic closed temporarily to snack on the way home.
"Okayyyy. Just saying, flirting with your bros is standard behaviour. No need to get your iron undies in a twist."
Scoffing, Tony lets the fight go. Even if Ned was being serious he's the most harmless kid on the planet, Spider-Man could take him. Iron Man definitely could.
The phone lights up on the desk in front of Tony one last time, Peter's returned presence seemingly not enough to sooth his clingy friend.
Shrimp breath 🦐
You looked stupid in calculus today.
"Does nobody in your generation communicate normally? For all I know this is your girlfriend."
Peter hums curiously, looking over Tony's shoulder at the screen.
The phone is snatched away and shoved into the back pocket of Peter's jeans before the screen even has time to fade to black.
"Heh, funny. Anyways I gotta go. Promised Ned I'd call him five minutes ago, y'know, but I'll see you next week!"
His flushed face turns away and into the elevator in the blink of an eye, but Tony can still see how bright red the boy's ears have turned.
A metaphorical lightbulb ticks on above the man's head at the same time the elevator doors chime shut.
"Holy shit, that was actually his girlfriend."

(MJ saying he looked stupid = saying he looked really good 🤭 major flirt alert!)

Tony telling cap ‘I lost the kid’ and that being the first thing he says after he gets back on earth?? THE FIRST THING HE SAYS TO STEVE AFTER YEARS OF NO CONTACT AFTER CIVIL WAR?? And Tony slowly nodding, his lips downturning lightly in a frown, as he says it, only to appear confused and off-put when cap is like ‘Tony, we lost’
AND TONY CALLING MORGAN HIS SECOND CHANCE BECAUSE PETER WAS HIS FIRST???
I feel like not a lot of people acknowledge the sheer in-your-face subtext of how those four heartbreaking words about Peter where the first thing Tony had said to Steve In years.
Also, *the* kid. Not Peter, not Spider-Man. The kid.
Might I even go so far as to say, Steve’s ‘Tony, we lost’ is partially why Tony later blows up on Steve in the movie—, pre-time-skip?
Tony first says ‘I couldn’t stop him’
Steve replies ‘Neither could I’
Then, Tony gets vulnerable. Something he never does, especially not with Steve, especially not after everything.
After Steve knew—, knew Bucky killed his parents. And didn’t tell Tony, and then left him stranded in Siberia.
But it’s Peter, and he needed to tell someone. It doesn’t matter that it’s Steve, it just matters that it was Peter.
So he actively made them stop walking, and actually look at eachother so he can say this.
Physically forcing them to stop walking, because this information is too heavy to be said casually without breaking stride. He stops, so Steve will stop. He looks at Steve, eye contact.
Tony is weakened, injured, dehydrated, and starved. And has died even, for a bit. Due to lack of oxygen.
So, right now he needs medical attention.
So malnourished Nebula and Steve had to actively help him walk.
But he stops, he makes them stop walking. And he looks in the eyes of the man who kept the secret of his parents death. For years. And tells him.
So when Tony says ‘I lost the kid’ he says it slowly, nodding slightly.
Then Steve says ‘Tony, we lost’ and Tony frowns and looks confused.
Tony having reminders of Peter in his own home? The photo sat high and visible In their daily life, in the kitchen above the sink, next to a picture of Howard and Maria Stark?
Morgan surely saw the picture at the very least once, a picture of her daddy and a boy, next to a picture of grandpa and grandma.
A boy with daddy who vaguely resembles daddy enough. Enough for her to assume in her little five-year-old mind maybe ‘This boy looks a bit like daddy, and his picture is with grandma and grandpa. He must be my brother.’
Tony, without hesitation, calling Morgan his second chance?? When the avengers (Steve, Nat, and Scott) approached him with the time heist idea?
About the second chance to bring everyone back?
(‘I got my second chance right here, Cap. Can’t roll the dice on it.)
One glance, one single glance at the picture he took with the kid for the coverup, the ruse, of an internship to cover up the boys illegal activities.
A glance at that silly half-assed picture with the upside down certificate and the bunny ears.
And that’s all it took for him to get the nudge into figuring out time travel.
I can’t help but think, he must wonder what it would’ve been like if he ever gave the young child a real internship.
A real mentorship.
Happy blatantly stating to Peter that he doesn’t believe Tony would’ve done—wouldn’t have gone through with what he did if Tony didn’t know Peter would’ve been here after Tony was gone.
They were not that close when we saw them during homecoming, but are notably closer in Infinity War and Endgame. Even bantering lightly.
I can’t help but wonder what happened in that year we didn’t see.
After Peter had rejected the offer, thinking it was a test. And promptly, accidentally, unknowingly, prompting Tony’s proposal to pepper.
Tony is a man who learns from his mistakes, so I don’t doubt he was definitely more hands-on, after viewing how badly the distant mentor thing went.
Awe wait I just realized this as I’m actively typing this out💔 the 17A protocol? When the nano suit was launched bc Pete was losing oxygen as the ship pulled him into the atmosphere???
Omgg Noo what if since Peter was sixteen…17A stood for that literally. What if it was a gift for his seventeenth birthday💔💔
It’s the same suit he tries to have Peter put on for the press conference (that Peter thought was a test) but back then he said that it’s still in testing. So maybe 17A was the finished product??
