I don’t watch spn anymore and I would be very happy if Dean and Cas were canon. This is what they deserve,story wise. But they are not. Not at the moment for sure. And you can tell yourself the opposite but that doesn’t make it true. That’s not what canon meant. At the moment there are people who watch the show who could not see them in a romantic way and the fact that this is possible it really means that said couple is not canon. If you ask every Shadowhunters fans who Malec is they will tell you that they are the queer couple of the show. That they are in love and that they are married with each other. I doubt they will tell you”those are the couple who made out in the alley of the Institute”.Even homophobes will tell you that they are romantically together. If you ask all Spn fans about destiel you will have people who will tell you that they are in love (and I’m one of those),others who will tell you that they are best friends and there is nothing romantic between them(I’m not counting destiel haters here cause it’s useless). And the fact that those people can even tell you that they are just friends it makes the couple NOT CANON. This is not what canon means and this is not queer representation.

A last thing:sometimes I read things like “dc is subtextually canon”. Well,this doesn’t make a couple canon. CANON IS TEXTUAL.
