My biggest and most specific whump Thing is and always has been:
Character A (preferably leader or smth similar) is on the outs with their team for whatever reason. Something interpersonal and serious and chronic that’s leaving A feeling very unsure of their place in the team. And A gets sick or hurt (and maybe smth about the way it happens makes them feel like it’s their fault), and they know this is not what the team needs right now. Everyone is so busy and stressed and it’s at least partially A’s fault in the first place and they’re supposed to be better than this, so they’re just going to take care of it themself.
Only it’s not fine, and it gets worse, and the others start to notice. But A is still doing a pretty good job at hiding it, so what the team notices is that A is even more difficult and moody than before, and they’re hard to pin down for anything other than work, and the quality of their work is declining. And the team isn’t happy, and A just gets pushed further and further to the fringes. And this is their fault! They started this whole problem and then they got hurt and then they chose to hide it, and now they can’t even do what they’re supposed to. So they’re going to keep pushing through as long as they can because it has to end at some point. And maybe if they’re good enough their family team will start tolerating them again.
But then there’s a mission. And A fucks it up. They’re just so tired and in so much pain and they haven’t been getting much sleep and it’s so hard to think straight, and they fuck it up. And maybe someone gets hurt. And fuck. Fuck fuck fuck. This is all A’s fault, just like every bad thing that’s happened to their team has been, and so they deserve the epic dressing down they get, and they deserve the cold shoulder in the aftermath. And they deserve to be abandoned, too, because they’re pretty sure that’s where this is heading. The whole point of them is to lead and protect and if they can’t do that anymore, if they’re a failure, a liability, then wanting to stay because they just want to be with their team is just selfish.
I have a variety of endings for this kind of thing that I like, but some favorites are
Team member says something to A about something being their fault (maybe looking to start a fight) and instead of pushing back, A folds and starts apologizing and maybe it spirals into a panic attack that they’re also apologizing for
Injury-induced emotional conversations. Pain or blood loss or painkillers (or if you wanna be really mean. A thinking they’re about to die and have to say this now) leads A to come out with an apology for everything, or a half-confession or accidental reveal about their emotional or physical state, or something like that
An outside character notices something is wrong with A and brings it up to the others. This one I especially love when it’s a situation where A ended up needing medical treatment too after the failed mission and it’s a nurse or doctor who notices and points out hey not only is your leader all kinds of fucked up and not just from today. They’ve also been crying nonstop since they got here. Just so you know.
Good old fashioned collapsing. A is so far beyond exhausted and their vision keeps going dark around the edges and it’s fine, they’re not going to pass out in front of everyone they’ve just disappointed because that’s pathetic, it’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine until it’s not. Until they’re on the ground with their ears ringing and their teammates standing over them and oh. They’ve fucked it up again.
Pairs well with things like
Living weapon tropes in general but especially the basic assumption on A’s part that the others don’t love them like they love each other bc why would they? A is A and they’re not lovable and that’s not the point of them anyway. They’re for protecting the team.
Moment after the reveal of A’s injury or illness and how A thinks the team feels about them where at least one team member gets mad bc you really think that little of us, A? You think we’d think of you like that? And A has no clue what to say because the last thing they want to do is make this worse, but it seems like anything they could say would be wrong.
Others mistaking A’s determination to protect the team for pride and trying to knock them down a few pegs.
That long pause before a desperate sneeze… features contorted, nostrils twitching, mouth hanging open as if every fiber of their being can do nothing but wait in yearning for that release.
Character B has spent an extended amount of time desperately searching for character A, who is in danger. Long, strenuous days turn to nights spent pacing and planning their next search destination.
A is finally found. With their loved one safe, all of the stress and grief and exhaustion catches up with B. The force that had been driving them ends abruptly and they crash, hard. They're completely spent and achey and... hmm. Now their throat hurts, too.
Ofc B is gonna try to hide their illness from A, who just experienced all this trauma and needs to recover as well. And ofc the symptoms get so bad that they can't hide it any more. Durr.
So yeah, emotions and stuff with snz. Maybe A and B can take care of each other? 😶
i found an earring and decided to try inducing with it and wtf my nose absolutely hates it. so i decided to do a little nose torture and only removed it to switch nostrils or blow my nose. it also got caught on my septum ring a couple times and locked it's movement completely - all in all the most sneezing i've maybe ever done.

but they cannot take it. they are going to sneeze uncontrollably for at least a half hour. it will not be pretty, or clean. have fun!
H/unter thought: he has the kink and is super turned on by his own sneezing (at least to a certain point of misery. There are plenty of times when it’s just not sexy anymore), but he always figured it was another crossed wire from his enhancement and something unique to him, so he’s never told anyone before. The first time he hooks up with someone who has the kink (however that happens) is like. Life-changing for him (and for them. what do you mean you’re genetically engineered to be ridiculously sensitive to Everything. are you even real)
Tense anxious uptight character who mercilessly stifles every one of their (many) sneezes. Tense anxious uptight character who gets talked into trying weed for the first time to maybe calm the hell down. Tense anxious uptight character who is viciously allergic to weed smoke and dissolves into a desperate fit after the second or third hit.
And they stifle and stifle and stifle right up until the weed actually hits, and then it’s kind of hard to care about stifling anymore. They feel good despite the tickle and they’re so relaxed, so maybe it’s fine to just… let these sneezes out. And maybe take a few more hits between sneezes. And maybe it tickles so much, so badly, so all-encompassingly and maybe with the way their whole body is buzzing right now it feels so fucking good to let out sneeze after unrestrained, needy sneeze. They take a hit, the smoke fills their nose, the haze fills their head. The tickle spreads from the back of their sinuses up through their whole nose, their whole face while their nose twitches and their breath catches and hihhhh…. hahhhAHHHHISSCHHOO! AIIISHHCHOOO’EHHTCHOOO’ISHHHOOO! Fuck…
