((unsure if this counts as meta but...im curious about master kohgas (much) earlier days of leading the clan, and what it was all like.
THE EARLY YIGA
I’m using this ask more as an excuse to talk about how I see the Yiga existing before they came to live in the Gerudo region. This is all a super vague timeline because 10,000 years is a super long time and it’s like—where do you even begin. So I don’t have a specific timeframe of when the Yiga settled in the Karusa Valley where their hideout is now, but I do think they’ve been living their for several long generations, enough for them to put down proper roots and truly start growing/thriving as a clan and people—alongside working towards their ultimate goal now that they are in a more “comfortable” position to do so.
BUT PRIOR to that, the Yiga have basically lived as a nomadic peoples for a massive chunk of those ten thousand years. They never truly put down roots, and if they settled, it was never for long. They were basically “on the run” from the Kingdom, particularly the soldiers/military that could and would hunt them down and exterminate them should they be found out. So their lifestyle revolved around the fact they were not only exiled people, but wanted people. They were literally enemies of the kingdom to be killed on sight.
Ways of evading this that became integral to their survival and longevity included dyeing their hair black to hide their Sheikah lineage (remember even the non-Yiga Sheikah were exiled people too, meaning they were no longer formal citizens of Hyrule and thus under no protection)—and heavy use of disguise, usually as common travelers and merchants.
The places where they’d find refuge usually consisted of abandoned ruins, structures, villages, and caves—basically anything with enough shelter to keep them from the elements and out of sight. Their living space was designed in such a way that their things could either be easily and quickly packed away to take off in a hurry, or simply things not important enough that they could be left behind.
How they managed to get most of their supplies and foodstuffs? Good old banditry and cheating.
Assassination attempts and other destructive maneuvers against the Kingdom probably weren’t a priority or rarely enacted at this time because of the need to constantly be vigilant and on the move—but their retaining of Shiekah techniques and abilities, which had been employed for “dark purposes” in ages past, also lent itself exceptionally well to surviving out in the world.
Birth rates were probably quite low during this time, children that made it past infancy even rarer—so the clan had its lowest numbers in this period. They were not in a safe enough position to raise families. They were nomadic peoples on the run.
I think this time period was also when they got the most “new recruits” usually in the form of straggler Sheikah who’d not made it to Kakariko with no home or place to call their own. Orphans and outcasts aplenty to add to their own band of rogues. Clashing ideologies didn’t matter so much when you could find a community with a familiar culture also looking to make ends meet.
I’d say Kohga was at his most involved in this era, because his leadership decisions and fast acting were paramount to his clan’s survival. He needed to know and see everything at all times to make. Sure. They. Aren’t. Caught. Which often included sending scouts out far and away to get as much information as possible and have the enemy’s movements tracked at all times. He’d use his position as an ex-monk with advanced techniques to teach his people how to both defend themselves and survive ( as well as protect them in return, he was—and still is—ridiculously strong). Everything they did was about survival first and foremost.
Living in such harsh and grim conditions shaped them as a people, and even further fostered the hated they already had for the kingdom. So by the time they settled in the abandoned ruin in the Karusa Valley, they could at long last let that festering wound open fully and prepare for the day they could take their long awaited revenge…

Some 30-something-year-old Jou Kido ship headcanons off the top of my head:
Jou & Taichi: Taichi calls Jou “Doc”. Daisuke and Mimi think it’s like a cute pet name and they poke fun at Jou for it. Jou retorts with: “well what do you want him to call me? He makes me do his physical every year!!” Also Taichi sleeps in the spare patient beds when he’s exhausted from his job, which occasionally scares Jou when he goes to take a nap himself. They become napping buddies, which turns into “let’s talk Digimon politics while in bed together”.
Jou and Yamato: Yamato is pretty damn wealthy and he surprises Jou by buying him a convertible and figuring out how to actually get it into the Digital World. Jou LOVES cars, and they name it “the swan”, and it kind of becomes a car they own together. They go for drives across long stretches of the Digital World, and discover some really fascinating parts of the world that humans have never seen. They agree it’s best left that way, without human interruption, so they just keep those places in their memories.
Jou and Sora: They don’t realize they’re romantically compatible until they’re in their 30s, and they’ve been having tea together for so long that it becomes like a domestic ritual. Sora brings flowers to decorate his doctor’s office all the time, and Jou suddenly realizes he’s in love with Sora... so he gets help from Koushiro to figure out a way to bring Sora a bouquet of flowers from the Digital World into the human world. He tries to casually bring the vase of flowers to her but almost drops it in the process. Sora has good reflexes and catches it, and then immediately notices they’re flowers from the Digital World and she’s extremely touched.
Jou and Mimi: Nobody knows these two are actually dating because they’ve always acted really close. They go back and forth between friends and lovers a lot. Everyone thinks they’re both single or dating other people for years. They live together on the weekends until finally Mimi just proposes to Jou. 5 years later, Takeru accidentally finds out Mimi and Jou are engaged, and he tells them that their entire friend group has shipped the two of them for a LONG ASS TIME.
Jou and Koushiro: They write a book on Digimon biology together. Koushiro’s writing is too technical and difficult to understand, so Jou and Tentomon sit with Koushiro for days and days translating Koushiro’s thoughts and discoveries into something that both Digimon and humans can understand. Jou used to be jealous of Koushiro’s intelligence, but now that they’re both useful to each other, they fall into an easy partnership.
(1/3) Imagine Sungjin talking to you about going on a world tour for six months. You both know it's going to be hard to stay in contact between schedules and time differences. There is a heavy silence following his words, cloaking the space. You take it all in, feeling the intent gaze on you. Waiting and fearing. “It’s ok,” you tell him finally. “I know you have to go. And you’ll do your best.” Tense shoulders relax and grateful lips press warm against your forehead.
(2/3) “You’re not gonna fall for other boys will you? When I’m away?” he asks after a moment. Without meeting his eyes, you just say, “Maybe.” He positively deflates on the spot. “What?” he exclaims. “But- but- you’re supposed to say that you’ll wait for me forever!” You shrug. “I dunno. Considering how many hot guys there are, who knows?” He falls silent, defaulting to kicked puppy state.
(3/3) “So that’s why,” you say, pulling him in until your noses touch. “You gotta come back before I fall for some horrible boy who will make me miserable.” You smile. “And don’t you dare forget to stay in contact and send care packages.” You feel his laughter against your lips as he pulls you closer. “Of course.” It’ll be hard, but, as you hug each other closer together, there are no doubts in your minds that you’ll make it work. ~ happy v day <3

Portrayal Meme: I really love your Lusamine. There's a lot of care put into the way she communicates, from her dialogue to her body language. It's honestly VERY chilling at times, which is a good thing in my opinion, it gives her a very unique stage presence. Your overall aesthetic that you use for her is awesome as well; I love when people use hunger as symbolism. And I also really love the threads with Guzma that you and Gio have, they've been some of my favorite to read on the dash.
