A day before Kip Kinkel (15 at the time) would go on a shooting rampage at Thurston High School, he killed both his parents inside of their home. On May 20th, Kip had been suspended from school for bringing a loaded handgun inside the building. When he was released from the police station, his father, William Kinkel, drove him home and lectured him the entire way back.
At 3pm that same day, Kip took his Ruger .22-caliber semi-automatic rifle and shot his father in the back of his head in the kitchen. He then dragged his father's body into the bathroom and covered it with a sheet. Hours later, Kip's mother, Faith Kinkel, arrived home. He greeted her and told her he loved her before shooting her six times. He covered her body with a sheet as well.
Kip would go on to kill two classmates the next day before being tackled down by his classmates. It was determined later Kip suffered from severe brain damage and schizophrenia.
Jaylen Fryberg: his two cousins
On October 24th, 2014, 15-year-old Jaylen Fryberg urged his friends and his cousins to gather with him at their lunch table. After they all arrived, other peers noticed an altercation going on between Jaylen and the seven other people seated. Jaylen then pulled out a handgun and fired eight times. He ended up shooting every single person there, all of which suffered from head wounds.
In this attack, Jaylen killed one of his cousins, Andrew Fryberg, after shooting him in the head. He injured another one of his cousins, Nate Hatch, by shooting him in the jaw. Luckily, he ended up surviving and received surgery.
Total, Jaylen killed 4 people and injured 3 others before ending his own life. He only targeted his friends and family; he was also a well-liked guy at school.

Adam Lanza (left), Salvador Ramos (right)
Adam Lanza: his mother
On December 14th, 2012, 20-year-old Adam Lanza would go on the second deadliest school massacre in USA history. But, before that attack, he would end the life of his 52-year-old mother, Nancy Lanza.
Before his attack, Adam entered his mother's bedroom where she had been asleep. She had just gotten back from an out-of-town trip. Armed with a .22-caliber Savage Mark II rifle, Adam aimed the gun at Nancy's head and shot her four times. The shots nearly decapitated her.
After this, Adam would travel to Sandy Hook Elementary School and end the lives of 26 people before shooting himself in the head.
Salvador Ramos: his grandmother
On May 24th, 2022, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos and his 66-year-old grandma, Celia Gonzalez, got into an argument. He had been living with her at the time after an argument erupted with his mother, Adriana (who was abusive and neglectful btw).
After this argument, Salvador retrieved a firearm and shot his grandmother in her face. He then stole the truck at their home and drove it to Robb Elementary School where he would end the lives of 21 people before being shot to death by police.
Salvador's grandma ended up surviving the attack after a stay in the hospital. She actually ended up running out of her home after the attack while bleeding and yelling for help.
Jeffrey "Jeff" Weise (left), Charles Whitman (right)
Jeff Weise: his grandpa
On March 21st, 2005, 16-year-old Jeff Weise would retrieve a .22-caliber pistol from his bedroom before walking to his grandfather's sleeping form. His grandpa, 58-year-old Daryl Lussier Sr., had been asleep when Jeff shot him twelve times.
Jeff had been living with his grandfather due to the fact that his father had been killed by police years prior and his mother did not want to take care of him and was very abusive.
Jeff's grandfather had been a police sergeant, which prompted Jeff to take his grandpa's police issued firearms, bulletproof vest, belt, and squad car. While at his home, Jeff also shot and killed his grandpa's girlfriend, 32-year-old Michelle Sigana, two times as she walked downstairs.
Jeff then left the home and arrived at Red Lake Senior High School. While there, Jeff killed seven people before ending his life after being wounded by the police. I find it odd that this attack didn't get a lot of attention... I suspect it's because it was on a Native American reserve.
Charles Whitman: his wife and mother
Back in the 1960s, 25-year-old Charles Whitman would go on a massacre at the University of Texas. But, prior to this, Whitman ended the lives of his wife and mother.
Whitman first targeted his mother, 43-year-old Margaret Whitman, inside of her apartment. He arrived at her complex late that night and, after she introduced him to some people, they went upstairs to her bedroom. Once inside, Charles almost immediately attacked his mother. Oddly, there is no autopsy report, but this is what most likely happened.
Charles pulled out a knife and, easily being able to overpower her as a 6'0 ft former marine, she panicked and attempted to flee. It seems as if Whitman then slammed her hand into a door due to her fingers being almost completely crushed. Her wedding ring had even popped off after being stuck.
Whitman then most likely then moved behind his mother and strangled her with a black hose found at the scene. He then seemingly bashed her head into something (possibly the wall) before knocking her unconscious. After she was unconscious, he stabbed her with a knife and placed her body onto her bed, wrapping her with sheets.
Hours later, Whitman arrived back at his shared apartment with his wife, 23-year-old Kathleen Whitman. She had already fallen asleep prior and had, seemingly, immediately went to sleep after work. Whitman pulled the sheets back slightly that had been covering her body before stabbing her five times in the chest, one time hitting her heart. He was able to complete this quickly. He then covered her body with new sheets. Whitman later said he wanted his mother and wife to die as painlessly as possible because he loved them a lot.
Whitman would then kill 15 people at the University of Texas Tower. Total, he ended the lives of 17 people and injured 31 others before the cops shot him dead. In my opinion, the scariest thing about Whitman was that he was literally praised in the marines for being extremely skilled at shooting moving targets at long distances.
Amy Bishop (left), Luke Woodham (right)
Amy Bishop: her brother
Years before 44-year-old Amy Bishop would go on a killing spree at the University of Alabama, she had "accidentally" killed her brother, Seth, by fatally shooting him.
On December 9th, 1986, Amy Bishop (who was 21 at the time) was inside the kitchen with her brother, 18-year-old Seth Bishop. Amy, who was armed with a shotgun at the time, stated she had accidentally discharged the weapon and shot her brother. The bullet had entered Seth's chest and killed him. Amy and Seth's mother, Judith, had witnessed the entire shooting. She claimed Amy did not mean to discharge the firearm.
Judith said that Amy had been holding the rifle and told her there was a shell inside the gun and she couldn't figure out how to unload it. Judith told her not to aim the gun at anyone, to which Amy turned and faced Seth. Judith said the gun then "accidentally" discharged and shot Seth. She said Amy then instantly ran out of the home, still holding the firearm. Any fired the gun two times in the home.
Police later determined Amy had accidentally shot Seth. But, after Amy fatally shot and killed 3 people and injured 3 more over 20 years later, many began to question if Amy truly accidentally killed Seth.
After her arrest, Amy was diagnosed with schizophrenia and expressed remorse for the event. She was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.
Luke Woodham: his mother
On the morning of October 1st, 1997, 16-year-old Luke Woodham stated (later) he was hearing voices and was following the voices' instructions.
While his mother, 50-year-old Mary Ann Woodham, prepared to go on a jog, Luke walked over to her and attacked her. In her autopsy, it showed Luke had stabbed her seven times and slashed her eleven times. Some of the stab wounds ended up hitting Mary's lungs and heart.
Luke later described the relationship he had with his mother as devoid of love and seemingly nonexistent. He also recalled having no memory of attacking her. But, after murdering her, Luke took his mother's car and arrived at Pearl High School.
Upon arrival, Luke was wearing a trench coat which shielded a rifle. Luke then killed 2 people and injured 7 others before attempting to flee the scene. Luckily, Luke was stopped and held at gunpoint. Total, he killed three people.
After his arrest, he tried to plead insanity, but it was rejected both times. I actually find this odd considering Luke showed signs of possible psychosis. He was never formerly diagnosed with anything, but it is most likely Luke suffers from either schizophrenia or schizotypal personality disorder. Luke is currently serving a life sentence with the chance of parole in 2046.
Prior diagnosis: none
Treatment received?: Dylan never was medicated for any mental health related issues. He went to family counseling after his brother was kicked out for smoking weed, but this is not going to personally help Dylan most likely.
Obvious signs (to other people): weight loss, anger, loneliness, criminal history, excessive drinking, etc.
Theorized mental health issues for Dylan:
Major Depressive Disorder (widely agreed upon)
Anorexia (due to excessive weight loss and prior comments about thinking he was "fat")
Schizotypal Personality Disorder (initially suspected by Dr. Langman; widely agreed with (I agree with this one))
Signs of Dylan's deteriorating mental health (click to continue!)
Delusions
Dylan, unknowingly, seemed to experience quite a few delusions. But he did not view them as this (clearly). Experiencing delusions would line up mostly with bipolar 2 disorder and schizotypal personality disorder.
Dylan referred to himself in a third person standpoint. He seemingly believed he was not himself and had some out-of-body entity controlling him (in a way). Dylan also crossed out his own name once and instead wrote, "Me," as if he was not himself. He also claims multiple times that he doesn't have the same human nature as "Dylan".
"When Dylan Benet Klebold got covered up by this entity containing Dylan's body..."
"I lack the true human nature that Dylan owned." (Dylan Klebold, 1997)
"Does that make me a non-human?Β YES."
Constant thoughts of suicide
It is no secret Dylan wrote about ending his own life constantly over the span of multiple years. In fact, this is partially why people tend to ignorantly focus on him solely being suicidal.
Dylan, obviously, ended his life by a gunshot wound to the side of the head. In his journals, Dylan consistently mentions suicide in nearly every single page. His is clearly a sign that something wasn't okay.
"OOOh god I HATE my life; I want to die really bad right now."
"true true I hate everything. why can't I die..."
"No emotions. not caring. yet another stage in this shit life. suicide... Dylan Klebold."
"Wanna die & be free w. my love... if she even exists."
"If by fate's choice,Β [edited]Β didn't love me, id slit my wrist & blow-up Atlanta strapped to my neck."
Thoughts and plans of homicide prior to 4/20
Prior to Eric ever mentioning NBK or committing murder, Dylan brings up killing people dating back to 1997. In fact, it's implied he had the original plan for their attack.
Dylan directly mentions committing a mass murder dating back to 11/03/97, where he mentions obtaining a firearm and going on a killing spree. He also later mentions "going NBK" later with someone who was not Eric.
"[edited]Β will get me a gun, I'll go on my killing spree against anyone I want."
"Soon... either ill commit suicide, or I'll get w.Β [edited]Β & it will be NBK for us."
"Society is tightening its grip on me, & soon I &Β [edited]Β will snap, he will have on revenge on society." (implied)
Constantly feeling outcasted or different from other people
Dylan often discusses himself as if he's "the odd one out." He discusses feeling different from everyone else around him, as if he's displaced.
Dylan consistently discusses feeling different from most people. This actually might relate back to his belief of having a connected "spiritual entity". This trait is common in those with StPD. I've seen various schizotypal people discuss feeling almost as if they're not human because of how different they feel as if they're purely just an existence.
"People are alike, I am different - Dylan"
"Yo.... whassup... heehehehe...Know what'sΒ whiΒ wierd? Everyone knows everyone. I swear, like im an outcast,"
"As I see the people at school - some good, some bad - I see how different I am (aren't we all you'll say) yet I'm on such a greater scale of difference."
"Nobody accepting me even though I want to be accepted."
Suspiciousness of others/a belief others are purposely conspiring against him
Dylan showed very obvious signs of paranoia and signs of distrust in other people.
Dylan discusses feeling as if others purposely treated him as if he was lesser than them. He also, somewhat, expresses this when discussing his friends.
"I don't know what I do wrong with people (mainly women) - it's like they all set out to hate & ignore me."
"Everyone knows everyone. I swear, like I'm an outcast, & everyone is conspiring against me...."
Consistent feelings of abandonment and loneliness
Dylan clearly mentions multiple times he feels as if people have abandoned him and that he feels as if he has no one.
Dylan obviously had people, but he internally felt as if he did not. He even mentions girls making him feel this way despite them not even knowing him.
"The possible abandonment, persecution is not something I want to face, yet it is so primitive to me."
"I'm here, STILL alone, still in pain."
"All people I ever might have loved have abandoned me; my parents piss me off & hate me..."
"I have no money, no happiness, no friends... Eric will be getting farther away soon... I'll have less than nothing..."
"Everyone moves up I always stayed. Abandonment."
"I want to die sooo bad... such a sad, desolate, lonely, unsalvageable I feel I am..... not fair, NOT FAIR!!!!"
"I helped them both out thru life, & they left me in the abyss of suffering."
"Ever since 7th grade, I've felt lonely..."
Delusions of grandiosity or godliness
Despite Dylan seeming self-loathing, he actually seemed to have either some sort of superiority complex or God complex.
Dylan refers to himself as God multiple times and calls himself godlike. He speaks of other people as if they're below him in every way possible, often referring to them as zombies. This is also, clearly, a sign of a delusion. These could also line up with bipolar disorder and StPD.
"The zombies & their society band together & try to destroy what is superior & what they don't understand & are afraid of."
"OnlyΒ for the gods though (me,Β [edited]Β & etc.)"
"I am GoD.Β [edited]Β is GoD. & zombies will pay for their arrogance, hate, fear, abandonment, & distrust."
"Soon we will live in the halcyons of our minds, the one thing that made me a god."
"I UNDERSTAND THE EVERYTHING, I AM THE GOD OF THE EVERYTHING W.Β [edited]!"
Other notable signs:
Constant feelings of sadness, frustration, or anger.
Excessive usage of alcohol (to the point where it was notable to friends).
Seemingly against treatment and receiving mental health help. He denied his mother's attempts and stated on his diversion report that he did not see it as necessary.
Physically harming other people prior to the attack.
Mentions of self-harm, specifically cutting himself.
My personal takeaway (opinion):
I personally believe Dylan Klebold has StPD along with MDD or bipolar disorder. I believe Dylan had a superiority complex while also feeling constantly inferior to other people, similar to Eric's writings.
I personally believe people like Dylan are actually the ones you have to look out for over people like Eric. Eric was outwardly expressing homicidal thoughts, admitted to feeling suicidal, and expressed anger constantly (seemingly this was a cry for help). But Dylan internalized his for the most part and even refused help from people. This is why so many people were shocked Dylan was involved, not Eric. This is why so many people believed he was manipulated. Dylan hid his homicidal thoughts and suicidal tendencies well.
People tend to list traits of Dylan as if they were solely traits of him, all while Eric had the same traits. Both were deeply insecure, struggled with depression, had a temper, felt suicidal, felt homicidal, felt lonely, and felt outcasted.
Eric is seemingly framed as more violent because he expresses his ideologies more outwardly and doesn't shy away in his journals from expressing hatred. But I honestly do not believe a lot of things Eric says. This is because he knew people would read his journals (starting off sentences with somewhat of a "to whoever is reading this," sort of ordeal). Why wouldn't the guy who felt lonely and inferior his entire life try to frame himself as a psychopathic, fascist murder-machine? That would make people scared of him, not see him for what he truly was: a deeply insecure guy with anger issues who is constantly teased and bullied, leading to intense feelings of inferiority and loneliness.
Like guys, Dylan literally thought an external force kept other people from opening his journals...
Anyways, I hope this summary was okay! I can do other people if wanted!!

obviously, this is not all of their friends but I can make a second part.
Chris Morris
Chris Morris was friends with both Eric and Dylan.
He was arrested after the shooting due to suspicion after he contacted 911 and claimed he knew who the attackers were.
When asked if anyone else could've been involved in the attack, multiple of their other friends named Chris (source would be the 11k report).
Descriptions of Chris from others:
He was described as a hyper, funny guy who had a strange personality. He himself stated he used to have some anger problems but later resolved them.
He was known as being an anarchist (there's also photos of him with an anarchist patch on) and an atheist.
Multiple people stated they believed Chris knew about the bombs Eric and Dylan made.
Multiple people also described Chris as Eric's best friend.
Was he actually aware something was wrong?
Chris had discussed with a friend that Dylan had actually asked multiple people (18 or over) if they would purchase him a firearm.
He said he believed Eric Harris was slowly becoming more and more depressed after Christmas in 1998.
He recalled Eric stating he wanted to set up a trip-bomb by a hole in the fence behind their workplace because people kept sneaking in.
He said he had to yell at Dylan once for bringing a bomb into their workplace once. He said Dylan also mumbled something about putting shrapnel inside of it.
He said a week before the attack, Eric made a "joke" about bombing the school and mentioned killing jocks.

Nate Dykeman
(Nate is the one seated in the middle, Chris Morris is to the right)
Nate Dykeman was a friend of both Eric and Dylan. He had met them in middle school.
He was closer with Dylan and said Dylan's parents were like a second set of parents to him.

He described Dylan as being shy around girls. He said he had actually contacted Dylan's father after the shooting began to tell him what was happening.
He said Eric had been receiving treatment and medicine for mental health issues. He said Eric had nicknames for everyone he knew and that Nate's was, "Devil Man," which Nate said he found stupid.
Nate also seemed to dislike Brooks Brown and Devon Adams. He said Brooks was a compulsive liar and he didn't know anyone who actually liked him. He also stated he might've sent Devon a threatening message because he said she had been purposely saying stuff to get Dylan into trouble.
Were there any signs at the time that Nate missed?
Nate said he actually saw Dylan with the money to purchase a firearm. He said he had worried Dylan might've been purchasing drugs, so he confronted him. He said Dylan eventually caved and told Nate it was a firearm.
He recalled a time where Eric noted how they used napalm in the Vietnam war.
He said he knew Eric owned a book on how to make bombs and would look up how to make them.
He did note that he was shocked Dylan would ever harm people or himself.
He said he was aware for over a year that both boys had been making bombs.
He stated Dylan had stolen from their school.
He said both boys had been skipping classes more often than they did. He also said they had been more secretive and had been sleeping constantly in classes.
Zach Heckler
Zach Heckler was originally friends with both Eric and Dylan but had a falling out with Eric over a year prior. He was a very close friend of Dylan and was dating Devon Adams.
He had known both boys since middle school.
He said he and Dylan spoke on the phone almost every single day. He actually spoke to him the night prior. He said he had called Dylan two times that night. He said the first time, Dylan was on the phone with someone else and told him to call back. The second time, he said Dylan told him he was too tired to speak to him and said he was going to sleep (he said it wasn't even late and Dylan usually stayed up).
Prior to the shooting, Zach tagged along with Dylan and Eric in their mission stuff for a bit.
How did he describe Eric and Dylan?
He said Dylan was a quiet guy who worked the sound crew for school plays. He said Dylan listened to the Chemical Brothers. He also did note Dylan was extremely racist.
He said Eric was also a racist who had a superiority complex. He did admit Eric was struggling with his home life due to having strict parents who didn't support a lot of the stuff he was into. Zach said Eric began wearing all black during their summer break. He said he loved Rammstein and enjoyed the game "Postal".
Were there any signs beforehand that he missed?
He said Eric had thrown fireworks at the homes of people he disliked.
He said Eric had asked him about bombs before.
He said Dylan had let it slip that he purchased a firearm and said Eric also owned a shotgun.
He said when the attack happened, he was suspicious of Dylan due to him owning a gun.
Robyn Anderson
(Dylan (left), Robyn (right))
Robyn Anderson was friends with both Eric and Dylan but was extremely close with Dylan. According to their other friends, she had a crush on Dylan, but he did not like her back.
She said she had asked Dylan to prom and he accepted, telling her it was a favor he was doing for her. She said he had never been to a high school dance before that.
Robyn said she had been skipping classes with her friends on the day of the shooting.
Robyn was the one who helped Eric and Dylan purchase firearms when they were underage.
How did she describe Eric and Dylan?
Dylan Klebold:
She said her and Dylan spoke three times every week on the phone and went bowling together on Fridays. She said Eric also tagged along a lot of times.
She said Dylan rarely mentioned his parents but said they seemingly got along well.
She said Dylan was kind and described him as having a warm heart. She said he would go out of his own comfort zone to do things for her. She also said he was very smart.
She did say, though, that Dylan did not apply his intelligence into things. She said if he didn't want to do schoolwork, he didn't do it.
She said Dylan did not like their math teacher. She also said he would get yelled at a lot for sleeping during class.
She said she had been to Dylan's house multiple times.
She said she watched Dylan attempt to hide his shotgun in his dresser but since it was too big, he shoved it into his closet.
She said Dylan never had a girlfriend in high school.
She said Dylan planned to go to college.
She said out of their friends, Dylan and Eric were the closest.
Eric Harris:
Robyn did state she rarely spoke to Eric outside of school hours and bowling.
She said Eric was a funny person with a unique personality. She also stated she never witnessed Eric being mean to anyone.
She said she had been over to Eric's house two times and knew he owned a computer because Dylan mentioned it.
She said Eric did not have any sort of plan set out for the future, unlike Dylan.
She said Eric, unlike Dylan, had dated multiple girls in the past.
She said that Eric and his parents got along if they left him alone. She noted his parents were very conservative and said Eric would have to turn down his music when arriving home.
She actually said she was looking for Eric all day on 4/20 because she wanted to surprise him with a late birthday gift she had gotten him (a shirt).
Were there any signs beforehand that she missed?
She basically admitted Eric and Dylan told her not to tell their parents about the gun purchases in exchange for them to keep quiet about her being involved.
She said she was unaware jocks were as mean to them as they were.
She said she was unaware that either of them idolized Hitler.
She said neither boy ever mentioned harming someone else with a gun.
Devon Adams
Devon was a friend of Dylan Klebold. She was dating Zach Heckler at the time of the shooting.
She said Eric and her did not get along and it had been that way since their freshman year.
She was not affiliated with the TCM, unlike some of their other friends.
How did she describe Eric and Dylan?
Dylan Klebold:
She said she had been close with Dylan and had been at his house multiple times.
She said Dylan dressed "normal" compared to the other guys.
She said when she got injured once during a sports game, Dylan frantically ran to her and made sure she was okay. He also offered to help her with her injuries.
She said Dylan loved techno music and he would play it when they would hang out.
She noted Dylan was scared of dogs and would get nervous around her dog but never complained.
She said Dylan would drive her home once a week when her boyfriend couldn't do it. She also said she would offer to pay him, but he always refused to take the money.
She said she recalled six months before Columbine, Dylan, her, and a friend stayed up all night listening to music and dancing.
She also said she got targeted by jocks because she spoke to Dylan. She said one time one of them threatened her and asked her, "Why're you talking to that fggot? Are you a dyke?"
Devon also said she regretted not attending Dylan's funeral.
Eric Harris:
She said she and Eric did not get along with one another.
She said Eric was never happy.
She said Eric would kick things when he got angry. She also noted he would be perfectly fine one second and enraged the next.
She said Eric copied everything Dylan did.
She said (this is mean as fuck to me) that none of their friends really actually liked Eric. She also noted even Dylan got ticked off at him a lot.
She said Eric would dress in a "commando" style.
She said she felt like Eric just wanted to be like everyone else but couldn't ever fit in.
She knew a few of the kids off of Eric's hate list.
She noted Eric and Dylan would quote NBK and she found it to be weird.
She also admitted she knew Eric and Dylan bullied people.
Did she miss any signs beforehand?
She was aware the boys made bombs and loved fireworks.
She also stated when a bomb went off, she knew Eric was involved in the attack.
short temper, often get angry at almost anything I don't like. like people I have no respect for trying to tell me what to do. People telling me what to think. I have too many inside jokes or thoughts to have very many friends. or I hate *too* many things.
I think it's interesting how Eric was honest about everything while on Dylan's, he blatantly will proceed to lie about most of it.

After this incident occurred, Eric expressed his feelings concerning the above items to a psychologist. The doctor recommended antidepressant medication which seems to have helped. His mood is more upbeat. Eric seems to suppress his anger, then "blow up" and hit something or verbally lash out. He hasn't done this at home but has done it at school and work.
Another thing I find interesting is that Eric fails to mark "suicidal thoughts" off on his own paper, yet his parents do. I also think it's interesting that he marked down homicidal thoughts instead while his parents did not.
Today marks 7 years since Sol Pais traveled from Florida to Colorado and ended her own life all while the FBI falsely labelled her as a danger. Rest easy, Sol, I'm sorry the media is so cruel to you even after you've passed.
Two pieces from E&D's diversion paperwork that I always find interesting:
This was Eric Harris' responses to the questions asked. If you cannot read his writing, it says:
"What impact has this had on your family?" "shocked them. all trust is lost."
"Describe your relationship (past and current) with co-defendant(?)" "Best friend past and current.
"What is your attitude towards diversion?" "looking forward to it, hopefully it will set me *straight*"
This was Dylan Klebold's responses to the questions asked:
"What impact has this had on your family?" "A bad one. My parents were devastated as well as I."
"Describe your relationship with co-defendant(?)" "Friends for about 4 years. Very good friends."
"What is your attitude toward Diversion?" "I'm hoping I can get the best I can out of it & am optimistic about it."
I find these two writings interesting because Eric describes Dylan as a "best friend" and Dylan describes Eric as a "good friend." I also find it interesting that Dylan states he was devastated despite his mother stating in her book that Dylan didn't even see the crime as wrong.
