Sunstone is the official State gemstone for Oregon, USA. It is a gem-quality plagioclase feldspar with unique glitter effect owed to tiny inclusions of hematite and sometimes goethite. The metallic schiller, known as aventurescence, is highly sought-after by gemstone collectors. Typically, most sunstone exhibits a red effect, and more rarely, a blue or green glitter. Star sunstones are known but considered quite rare (pictured above). Although USA sunstone is the most well-known, deposits are also found in India, Canada, Madagascar, Norway and Russia. Queen Elizabeth wore an oval shape black diamond during her coronation and during her reign. Interesting enough there is no records of such mentioned but only a photo as evidence of the queen and her ring. The black diamond has her insignia, coat of arms symbol and a latent image of her portrait. Black diamond was believed to hold powerful magic. The black diamond in photos appears to be ruby-like rather than black, which is a result of black diamond's ability to absorb the full spectrum of colors often making it appear more red than black depends on its surrounding.

Cleaning Silver Jewelry
Looking to bring your silver jewelry back to life? One way to clean your silver jewelry is fill a bowl or another type container, such as Tupperware, with hot water. After, add a pinch of baking soda and a dash of salt into the bowl and mix it well. Then, carefully dip your silver jewelry into the bowl of hot water with baking soda and salt, and cover the container with a sheet of aluminum foil.
Let the jewelry to soak for about an hour and then rinse with plain water and dry well. After, you can polish the jewelry to remove any hard-water spots, but generally it should already look as good as new.
Please take note that this method of cleaning silver jewelry is only for solid silver jewelry, meaning those without any gemstones. If your jewelry has gemstones set into it, the harshness of salt and baking soda could easily damage sensitive gemstones, such as opal or turquoise. Soft and porous gems, including pearls, coral and amber, should never be soaked in water.
Gemstones can easily be scratched or lose their attractive luster. If you are looking to clean your gemstone jewelry, the best method is to simply wipe the jewelry with a cloth that has been soaked in warm soapy water and then dry it well.

Peanut wood is a variety of petrified driftwood, where the shape and structure of the actual wood was slowly replaced by chalcedony or jasper. Pictured is a 26 carat cushion shape multicolored Peanut Wood cabochon from Indonesia which measured 21 mm x 21 mm -- the peanut-like markings are boreholes which were made by clams.
