I wanted to test if there’s really a saint for everything by seeing if every job I’ve ever had had a saint, and yes, they all do. Even dishwasher. I present to you Saint Bonaventure
He was washing dishes when a delegation came to inform him he had been chosen to become cardinal but refused to talk with them before he had finished his job. To him menial work was far more holy and important than glitter and power and he even told the delegation to hang the cardinal robes on a tree outside while he continued washing dishes.
Have fun finding your own patron saints.
Guys, it's time to drop Google.
Google isn't the only search engine in the whole internet, there are others! And we need to diversify our search engine usage or we're gonna end up where we were a decade and change ago with the Internet Explorer issue. We can't let a single brand monopolize everything! This is why Google Search can afford to suck so hard: because people use it regardless! And there are alternatives.
A little bit about search engines, there are 3 types: crawlers, which work by scraping the web and developing their own indexes; metas, which get their results from the crawler-type search engines and therefore depend entirely upon them; and mixed, those which have their own (small) index but also pull results from the crawlers.
Right now, there are a couple of independant crawlers apart from Google, Bing (from Mycrosoft) and Yandex (the Russian one): this are Mojeek and Wiby.
Supporting independant crawlers is the easiest way to fight the shittyfication of the internet.
Mojeek.com is an independant british search engine with its own growing index commited to fighting internet censorship. It's small, and therefore it's usability isn't as good as that of the Big Three, but it doesn't censor, it's fairly respectful of people's privacy, and it doesn't drown you in adds. For those old enough to remember, it's a lot like early 2000s Google: you can find what you need, but if you write "dig shelter" instead of "dog shelter", that's what it's gonna search for. That said, please try to use it and support it as much as you can before we end up entirely dependant on Google, Bing and big corps adds. [click here to go to Mojeek]
Wiby.me is a new indie project that is literally dedicated to bringing back the old-school web. It's goal is to index as many personalized websites as possible, and NOT commercial sites. So, for those of you who can't find any answers to technical questions beyond highschool level because Google buries them under a gazillion commercial sites and other meaningless shit, keep an eye on this project! It has a lot of potential. And, if you know of any personal websites that have great stuff but have been murdered by Google, you can go over to Wiby and submit it to their index. [click here to go to Wiby]
Aside from those, there are also meta search engines you can use to ween yourself off Google and search for random, day to day stuff.
Qwant.com is my go-to here—it has its own index and pulls from Bing, has relatively little censorship, and is fairly private. This is the one I use on my phone for everyday stuff. [click here to go to Qwant].
Historically, DuckDuckGo has always been a go-to for those who want a search engine that respects your privacy and doesn't censor. Personally, I've never been a fan, and there have been a LOT of scandals in recent years. It supposedly has its own index and pulls from Bing, much like Qwant, but I don't know. I just don't like it. Still, I've added it here for completeness' sake.
If you have Firefox Mobile browser, you can set any of these search engines as your default search engine and you can also add the others as secondary search engines and switch quicky from the navigation bar. If you don't have firefox mobile though, what are you doing with your life??? Go get it!! It is So. Much. Better. You can have add blockers and watch YouTube add free, for free! You can have reader mode and dark mode add-ons! You can have the world oh my goshhhh, drop Chrome!!
4get.ca is my last recommendation: it works a lot like SearX, but honestly better. It doesn't have its own index, but pulls from many others. I think it's the best for reaserch, since it allows you to search for answers from different indexes, is easy to configure, add free, and avoids censorship as much as it can. It's also very privacy conscious, so that's an other plus, and it has that late 90s / early 2000s vibe that I totally dig. [click here to go to 4get]
If you wanna learn more about the topic, you can over to the Search Engine Map [click here] which shows you a bunch of Search Engines and how they relate to each other. Or you can also go over to this one dude's personal website whose done A Lot of reaserch into the topic (way more than me) and seems to be pretty legit, if a little extra. [click here to go to digdeeper.neocities.org] Hope this infodump is useful to someone =D
PS: here's to hoping all the links work!
EDIT: eliminated the "read more". Figured there are enough mega long posts in tumblr, one more won't make no difference lol (tho the version w the read more has been reblogged already, in case you'd rather)

It fucking better.

Visas being denied to players and their families
Forbidding the iranian team coaches from entering the country and forcing them to direct the game from MEXICO through a tv
Players from non european countries being stopped and searched like criminals with dogs
Deporting african referees just because of their nationality
Forbidding interviews from being spoken i'm languages other than English and forbidding journalists and players from speaking their native languages
And all this just in the first week....
If I may, I want to add the issues MEXICO is having. At least some of them.
México City was "modernized" to be appealing to tourists, not functional to people living on it. We have a housing crisis, gentrification issues, several problems with public transportation, and the government has tiptoed around those to prioritize appearances.
Madres Buscadoras, groups of mothers that search for their missing family members, have been ignored and criminalized by the president, attacked by cops guarding the stadium, alongside other protesters like farmers, teachers and students. Students and reporters were arrested without explanation, threatened with violence (women with sexual violence) and then released.
Adding to this, the number of missing people in the country is 133,000. Twice the capacity of the Azteca Stadium. Families tried to raise awareness by pasting posters with the faces of their missing people around the stadium. The governor of Ciudad de México sent workers to take them down.
To avoid "showing a bad picture of the country" streets around the stadium are being closed, hours before the games, in order to deter protestors. People living in this area (like myself) are unable to move freely.
Our president, Claudia Sheimbaum, on one of the morning reports, said México is happiness, said we don't have issues, criminalized the protestors and said they want to show a bad picture of México. Avatar fans actually compared the report to this same scene, the "There's no war in Ba Sing Se" scene.
The World Cup, FIFA, and the government are trying to silence our struggles. Don't stop talking about the issues with the World Cup and the way the countries (at least USA and México) are dealing with it. Please.

May I ask how you came up with Ro's character during gameplay; did you pre-write her design/story before starting the campaign or make it up as you went along? because she's by far one of the most beautiful, interesting and fashionable durge I've seen and I'm obsessed! it's also refreshing to see a 'romance' that doesn't involve the main companions but instead Gortash who's considered a more niche contender.
First of all, thank you so much for the question! I'm genuinely happy that people are interested in Ro and her story 💜
As for the answer itself, I think it's about 50/50.
Ro wasn't part of my first playthrough. Before starting a Durge run, I'd already finished the game around... five times? Or something like that. But all of those were Tavs. So when I finally started playing Durge, I already had a rough idea of what I wanted Ro to look like, what kind of person she would be, and what choices she would make throughout the story.
Of course, a lot of things were developed along the way as the Dark Urge storyline started revealing more details. I tried to keep most of the information that already exists in the game intact (her childhood, the paladin order, the first murder, and so on - only expanding on things when I felt there wasn't enough information or when something was only briefly mentioned).
In general, I enjoy building on existing lore much more than rewriting it or replacing it with something completely new.
Although I eventually started taking things in my own direction, and Ro's ending ended up differing from the in-game ones - simply because none of the existing endings suited her quite the way I wanted them to x)
And as usually happens, the story eventually started developing a life of its own and some things escaped my control entirely xD
For example, I never planned for Ro to have a romance at all.
So the whole situation with Gortash still surprises me. It basically went from:
Hm, they have an interesting shared background. Maybe I should explore that part of her lore a little to *draws 100500 pieces of durgetash art*
Okay. Something has gone terribly wrong. I made a mistake somewhere, but where? xD
Jokes aside, it ended up affecting how I viewed certain parts of her original backstory and personality. Relationships tend to change people, and characters inevitably influence each other as well. That eventually affects who they are as individuals.
Honestly, I think that's a good thing. Moments like that make a story feel more alive.
Even her design changed slightly over time. As my drawing skills improved and my artistic tastes evolved, some design choices stopped feeling right while others grew on me. But overall she's still pretty close to the character I originally imagined.
To be honest, I never expected bg3 to pull me in this hard. None of my previous characters had any real lore, and I barely even remember most of their names. I was just having fun playing the game.
Then something clicked. For the first time, I wanted not only to create a character, but also to start drawing. Ro and her story mean a lot to me because drawing ended up becoming a huge part of my life, and honestly, it made me happier than I've ever been😌
Hopefully that wasn't too exhausting to read. Sometimes I get a little carried away when it comes to text x)

Wavemother's Robes this wavemother's robes that... When are we going to start talking about the game's ACTUAL sexiest armor set?
I never beg for numbers on posts but can we keep this one going only so I can keep enjoying reactions like this. Like, can DU Drow Booty just become a staple in everyone's feeds until everyone is sick of it
Will happily do my part.
