I was just watching an interview with Rhys talking about how in the first episode Stede isn't really commanding his crew, he's essentially going "please play with me!" because he's deeply lonely and has never really had a friend. And it made me think of how when he meets Ed, Ed is instantly so willing to PLAY with him (because honestly that's what their entire first encounter is) and now I'm crying 😭

But you don't understand how FUCKING HILARIOUS it is to be that Stede had no problem with the idea of Ed being a bloodthirsty murderous pirate but the MOMENT he turned into the worst version of a Fuck Boy upon the arrival of Calico Jack he was like yup this is where I draw the line.
