I really need some of you to grasp that the racist assbags marching in the US are largely white supremacist & white nationalist orgs. This isn’t a conflict about Nazis & anti Semitism & nothing else. This is the Klan coming into their long predicted heyday with David Duke & the monstrous offspring of Christian racism driving the bus. Their focus is anti Black & anti Muslim & anti immigrant. The bell they want to toll isn’t for Jewish people yet. It will be. You should totally be concerned. But no, you aren’t the group that needs to be centered here right now. Other people are in more danger & solidarity is going to look like you listening to us while the White House empowers ICE and police and CBP to go after us with full force and no real concern for civil rights. Today’s speeches were all about blaming us for not accepting oppression. 

They literally chanted “Jews will not replace us” and “Heebs will never divide us”. They believe that “Killing Jews” is the third tenet of the Republican party. They are absolutely centering antisemitism, right here right now, alongside their antiblackness, Islamaphobia, and anti-immigrant stances. I’m not minimizing their antiblack terrorism or saying that you shouldn’t center blackness. It’s horrifying and you should absolutely center antiblackness. We all should. But saying that antisemitism is not their focus right now is inaccurate. They’re going after Jews too.

ICE and the police and CBP are not coming for the jews (tfu tfu tfu), and in those struggles jews 100% need to step up and defend our Black, immigrant, and Muslim fellows. but there are factions of the racist assbags that are very, very much focused on murdering jews, and when the broader left sees people marching in the streets shouting nazi slogans but calls jews paranoid because we're not *really* targets, yes, we get a little touchy. i am more worried about the immediate safety of Black, Muslim, and immigrant americans than i am about jewish safety... but the amount of energy some people are putting into telling jews to worry less about themselves is distressing to me, because we very much have skin in this game.

Once a Jew always a Jew? Far as we function, whether we are born into it or convert into it, that’s it. I could convert into another religion but always return to Judaism without conversion. Yeah, in this particular situation people can get annoying and we can be annoyed, we can complain, but they still hold a place as a Jew among Jews. Takes a whole fucking lot to actually kick someone out of the tribe.

isn’t that what being removed from the community is though? (I’m a little confused, I guess). Like yes, you can return, but unless you do, you’re in a state of being apart from klal yisrael? I know most people aren’t as concerned about karet (”cutting off”) but isn’t this…the same logic which requires many bnei anusim to convert in order to be considered Jewish - that if your family/ancestors converted, you were karet? 

i believe bnei anusim (who can document their lineage) only have to go through a giyur le'chumra, if anything. i don't think karet really has any bearing on halachic status. karet is a divine punishment. the majority of jews in the world are guilty of unrepentantly violating shabbat as traditionally halachically understood, which is grounds for karet, but it has no bearing on their children inheriting jewish status.
