This recipe was requested by @midasesquivel for a game called “Them’s Fightin’ Herds” an IndieGoGo backed game designed by Lauren Faust (of My Little Pony fame). My first thought for this was granola covered in glitter and the end is…not that far off, if a little less sparkly.

For granola, there’s a pretty consistent ratio of 5-6 units of dry ingredients to 1 unit of wet ingredients, so even though mine is on the smaller side of how much a granola lover might make for themselves, it can be easily increased as long as the measurements match across the board!

~Ingredients~

½ cup Rolled Oats (not instant!)

½ cup Chopped Pecans (or other nut of choice!)

½ cup Golden Flax Seeds 

½ cup Raw Sunflower Seeds  

½ cup Golden Raisins

½ cup Red Raisins or dried Cranberries

¼ cup Honey

¼ cup Vegetable, Canola, or Coconut Oil

½ tsp. Vanilla

The following spices, to taste: cinnamon, all spice, nutmeg, ginger, cloves, and a pinch of salt

(Optional) 1 - 2 tbsp. Brown Sugar

Gold glitter sprinkles, for garnish

Total Cook Time: ~20 min.

Serves: 3 - 4 cups granola

~Instructions~

Step 1.) Preheat the oven to 300°F. Mix all of the dry ingredients and spices except for the raisins/cranberries together in a mixing bowl. 

Step 2.) Pour in the wet ingredients and stir thoroughly. Spread the mixture evenly across a baking sheet lined with parchment paper (or greased foil).

Step 3.) Allow to bake for about 20 min. while stirring every 10 min. Keep a close eye that the granola doesn’t become too toasted for your liking! It will probably look wet when you take it out, but the wet ingredients will harden as it cools.

Step 4.) Allow to cool for at least 10 minutes before breaking up the granola. Stir in the raisins. Serve as desired, garnished with the gold glitter sprinkles!
