I want to believe he had no idea who this punk was until Alien Force. After getting out of the void he was able to meet Kevin properly and connect the dots.

I feel like he very casually slipped in a conversation that he knew Devin, to gauge if he was correct. And with the way Kevin reacted, he just knew.

I desperately want him to make up for all the times he could have helped that boy by, feeding him stories about his missing father.

Max did not do right by Kevin at all and I want to believe in a story where he did.

And I want to believe that Max did everything in his power to help and support Kevin after the fact, including turning a blind eye to Kevin cozying up to one or both of his grandchildren. Because I doubt Max would approve of either of them having a relationship with Kevin. He's already shown no mercy to old friends who slipped up. And has a mild distaste for some aliens, if not outright racism (or would it be speciesism?)
