Sketches of a couple new OCs I came up with recently, Claudio and Lionel. They're performers for a circus where, except for the clown's performing dogs, all the other animal acts are performed by human performers transformed into animals. In this case, Claudio and Lionel are the lion taming act, with Lionel being the lion. Although he's not the best actor and is a little too timid for Claudio's vision of the act...

I finished Dogsbody for the first time about a week ago and I loved it, although that ending left me emotionally devastated for a couple days 😭💚

Anyway, while doodling the other day an idea for a Sirius design popped into my head. There's a few things up for change, but overall I like how it's coming. His expression isn't the right intensity for his rage, but I did originally have him making a more neutral expression before changing it midstream 😆

Started rereading Dark Lord of Derkholm for the first time in about 16 years a couple days ago and I started thinking about how I'd go about drawing Derk now. Started with how he'd look towards the start; I'm partial to the face on the top left, though the one with wavy hair does have some interest for me too.

Rereading Diana Wynne Jones books when I'm 30 that I haven't read since I was 14~15 is an interesting experience, not least of which because I'm able to recognize the big, gay crushes I had on characters now when I didn't have the words for those feelings at the time. For instance, I was absolutely charmed by Sam in Fire and Hemlock; you give me a lanky, gloomy faced man with dark hair and a big nose and I'm going to love him. Add involuntary shapeshifting into the deal and it's like the icing on the cake for me. I always wished that he'd gotten to do more in the story(and the rest of the Dumas Quartet, for that matter).

However I had an even bigger crush on Derk from Dark Lord of Derkholm orz Like, I started rereading it yesterday and if anything my crush on him is even stronger now. He's a tired dad AND a mad scientist wizard farmer, how could I NOT love him???

I'm now feeling concerned that whenever I get around to rereading Howl's Moving Castle I will realize that I have feelings for book!Howl too orz
