I love how the Horizon story has very logical baked-in reasons for all the cliche video game character stuff in regards to Aloy.
only she can save the world? well yeah, only she is a genetic clone of Elisabet Sobeck who had the highest clearance to enter anywhere. (not to mention the physical skills, determination, brilliance, and tech to make it happen)
she talks to herself? well yeah, she was raised an Outcast and unable to talk to anyone else other than a stoic father figure and random quick encounters/life saving situations. of course she talks to herself!
she goes on every side quest to help people? well yeah, she was raised to believe in helping people when she had the power to do so, and it was damn near the last thing Rost told her to do.
easy handholds in yellow rope? well yeah, thatâs used for Brave training purposes and other communities too who have been around living in those high up areas for ages.
climbing that tall thing shows her whatâs around her on the map? well yeah, the tallneck is connected to/acts as a relay point to the whole network and is used to support signals and scanning capability to identify whatâs in the immediate vicinity.
her weapons and stealth skills are too badass for her age? well yeah, sheâs been doing nothing but hardcore training for over a decade straight with singleminded devotion, learning how to be a peerlessly competent one-woman army (tracker, hunter, tactician, weapons resupplier, weapons crafter, cook, range & melee combat, rock climbing expert, scouting etc.).
thereâs no way sheâs carrying all that stuff we have in her inventory! well yeahâŚactually that one Iâll concede to. you can pry my gratuitously large and improbable inventory from my cold dead body, no one wants that kind of realism in a game!
