its funny when "dogs like squeaky toys because it reminds them of hunting and killing prey" gets shared as this "creepy" thing when human toys are really the same. we made soft swords so we could pretend to fight to the death without actually gutting each other

I'm curious. Also have the Lamb encountered Steve yet or is he some kind of elusive figure they've only heard of from the villagers?
OH. OF COURSE!!!
I made those drawings like half a year ago but ummm let me see if I can remember what I had in mind..... and fill up the gaps.....

Summary:
After several followers go missing, a mysterious portal takes The Lamb to a universe completely apart from their own, ending up in The Nether¹ regions of this one. With no portal in sight upon waking up, them and their followers begin to wander the lands in search of refuge.
Fortunately, it's not long after the group finds the Piglings, and although a same language it's not shared, with a curious glance the Piglings allow them to stay nearby.
With help of The Red Crown, The Lamb quickly begins to learn the pigs' language and so they ask, what is this place? Who are you?
Do you know of any 'portals'?
After arguing for a brief moment with frowned faces, the Piglings answer: "There is one, black as charred flesh and bright with the most unusual color. But beware Lamb, a lethal disease plagues the other side. If you and your people cross that portal, you will surely die."
With this warning, The Lamb embarks on their own towards said portal.

Anddd here is where I cut it as there are some plot points that need polish haha
At some point they learn only The Lamb can safely be in The Overworld, but I'm debating whether The Lamb is able or not to sense something is wrong when they cross the portal (which would change how and when they discover the followers are not immune)
Sooo, for the sake of explanations, let's say this was a game, the gameplay would basically be exploring The Overworld in search of a way back home + recollecting materials to establish a base and maintain good relations with the Piglings
I kinda want the Piglings and Villagers to be sort of switched
For Steve, villages are safe for the most part and Pigling lands can be very dangerous
For The Lamb, the Piglings are friends and villages can be very dangerous even if the Villagers themselves show no hostility towards them, they're mostly confused "Uhhhh walking sheep....? Uh?? It's giving me gold nuggets?? Oook??? Ummmm, here, have some wheat²" ← Reversal of the trading mechanics, Villagers drop random food items
But the danger not only comes from their Iron protector, for the threat of Illagers also lurks nearby
Following the search for immortality theories, it's only logical they would grow quite the interest for the bipedal sheep that comes back over and over again despite scouts reporting their dead ← Need to polish how exactly they discover that information
Maybe The Lamb would also take an interest in them, maybe they know something about portals? ← But first I also have to polish how they get that idea
Speaking of death! What happens when The Lamb dies? Reapers in their spawn point of course! Which would be the same as always, The Gateway, back to their world
If they cross the portal once again they will either spawn in a bed they slept in or at the very beginning of this journey (So the search of a way back home is for the followers, not them)
Anddd speaking of immortals, nowww for the Steve question
I haven't thought yet about the interactions between these two, but I like a lot your idea of Steve being an elusive figure they only hear stories of! Adds a lot to the sense of mystery
For them to actually meet, I would need to work on what kind of "player" I want my Steve to be XP (And also Alex!! Can't forget Alex!!!!)
I don't really want him to be the evil kind sooo we can discard plots revolving our God Slayer Lamb finding a way to kill an immortal like Steve dbdkbdkd
That's all I got for now, thank you for the ask ^u^

¹Why specifically The Nether? Simply for plot convenience, buuuut as I'm writing this I realized I can use it to further push the parallels with Steve 🤔 but as for actual lore reasons I don't have one yet- oh, right, I forgot, also if they spawned in The Overworld all of the followers would die instantly and there wouldn't be that moment of "Oh OH!!! THEY'RE IMMUNE!!!"
And besidesss I like the idea of there being friendship subplots among the background characters haha
²Some take the gold out of politeness, some don't, either way The Lamb gets food, that's cute privilege for you /j
