Spinosaurus aegyptiacus – Ink and gouache on paper
A year ago, this painting was exhibited at the Alliance Française of Bologna! It was quite an adventure getting it there from France!
If you’d like to know the whole story, every year my previous school had an agreement with the Alliance Française of Bologna: each year, 20 students from a few schools around the world had the chance to exhibit their work for a few weeks in Italy!
This year’s theme was ‘At the Edge of the World’. At first, I wanted to depict something terrifying, a vision between life and death : my teachers really didn’t like it… As I really wanted my work to be exhibited, they asked me to do another illustration (for the following morning).
I painted this spinosaurus because, to me, this dinosaur stands exactly between land and water: the boundary of its world is the water’s surface.
