in fact every shifter is very touchy with not only their mates but the rest of the pack too. they are constantly hugging, grabbing hands, touching shoulders. they just wanna show love through touch!

every shifter can be brought to their knees when their mates run their hands through their hair. some (david) refuse to admit this, but when he lays on angel’s chest and they play with his hair and scratch his scalp he falls asleep instantly

milo revels in his guard dog role in public. he loves to sharpen his teeth and grin at anyone looking at sweetheart for too long

of course shifters love biting to show affection. david bites just under the collar, he likes angel to have a private reminder of his claim.

asher (menace) does everything he can to make bite marks impossible to hide, partially because he likes other people to see his claim on his mate, partially because he likes to piss babe off

milo’s bites are exclusively on the thigh, he likes them being private and also sweetheart banned bites anywhere else after an embarrassing incident when they took their jacket off at work and forgot their activities the previous night

It’s usually something small, like a paper cut or a gray hair or another birthday passing.

Nothing to really think much about.

But every time, it reminds them that they have limited time with the person they love.

So Sam holds Darlin’ a little tighter.

Gavin kisses Freelancer a little harder.

And Avior lingers in bed with Starlight a little longer.

Meeting for the first time while darlin is looking for Quinn and finding out that Sam had a similar vendetta

Darlin got into a fight while looking for Quinn and Sam, helping them out, passing along information he found out about him.

Other characters get involved in the Quinn situation. Not just darlin, not just Sam. The solaires. The shaws. The department. All of them.

If you believe that Quinn wasn't 'mentioned' enough to have played a bigger role in his aftermath, then I don't think we're listening to the same thing.

That or this fandom has very poor analytical skills.

I actually really like how the Quinn story ended up for a lot of reasons.

Firstly very few people were expecting it to go down this way, there were plenty of theories about Quinn attacking Darlin’ or the mates so this was a cool change/twist.

If Quinn had just gone ahead and attacked Darlin’, they would have felt like their was no point in all the effort they’d put in to get closer with the pack. A big part of their char development was choosing to stay with Sam after finding out Quinn was up North. It would have definitely ended up in a physical fight had Darlin continued to hunt Quinn down, so having Quinn be captured really helps to show that the work they put in wasn’t for nothing in a way.

Similarly if Quinn had attacked the mates/pack it would have driven Darlin’ away and it would again, (at least make them) feel like they should have just gone after him when they had the chance. (Which is an interesting point to explore but so is the one Erik went with!)

We know Darlin’ is good with physical pain and struggles more with being vulnerable so Quinn doing this really drives home just how absolutely EVIL he is. He admits himself that ‘there is no greater pain he can give them’. He knows he doesn’t have any leverage (since the girl was dead already) and even then, when he knows that he has already lost, he still tries to bring them down with him.

Looking at it from the standpoint that it is Boyfriend ASMR it makes a lot of sense to do it this way. 1. Not many people in irl have had fatal fights with their ex partners, so the comfort that Darlin receives from Sam being about emotions and vulnerability is a lot more helpful and personal to a larger base of people. 2. A lot of the fan base aren’t comfortable with watching violence (a lot of people decide not to watch the imperium au or the inversion arc for personal reasons) so having it end in a lot of violence would have meant that a large portion of the fan base wouldn’t have been able to watch it and this has been a long awaited arc centred around a listener character specifically so it makes more sense this way.

And too add on to that, even if the video with Quinn and Darlin’ that we will be receiving some time in the future does turn violent it isn’t necessary to watch to understand what happened!

I didn’t end up drawing Dad!Sam, but here’s my Tank 😼🫶🏽 She likes to wear cargo pants and sweats, but for this fit, I imagine she has cargos on w/ either combat boots or steel toed boots. (Also she def convinces Sam to get steel toed boots at some point)

Anyway ik this is abt Darlin’ BUT here’s another hc I have about Sam:

Sam was born near the Tex-Mex border but lived in Louisiana for the majority of his life before he decided to stay in Dahlia. Because he was raised for the first few years of his life in Texas, he’s got a decent grasp on Spanish. Darlin’ likes to teach him new phrases, and sometimes they’ll solely speak in Spanish together. They also whisper to each other in Spanish when others are around bc most of the Shaw pack and Solaire clan can’t understand what they’re saying and it drives them crazy + they can talk about whatever w/o prying ears lolol

Also, Sam hobbies? Currently the only ones I can think of are

a) he’s the stereotypical cowboy who can play a guitar and can sing pretty good

b) he’s weird and likes to do handiwork around the house. Like, he’ll just start fiddling with people’s leaky faucets and will NOT stop until it’s fixed. He also won’t take payment istg

anyway I can’t wait to show you all how I imagine Sam

the man has SO many moles that Tank will play connect the dots with when they’re watching movies together
