This country’s history is defined and drenched in black people’s pain, toil and exploitation. There’s been no moment in this nation’s timeline when white America ever collectively decided this was unconscionable, so please don’t spread videos of heinous modern day lynchings with the intention that it will be the catalyst.

there’s also this punitive, disciplinary aspect to sharing videos and images of black bodies being brutalized. The terror and violence inflicted on us becomes a spectacle and those videos reaffirms that black bodies are disposable, it dehumanizes us and reinforces racist, white supremacist ideologies that let cops kill and brutalize black folks w/ impunity. There’s no difference b/w sharing videos of murdered black bodies and public lynching in during jim crow.
