Happy Birthay, Final Fantasy IX!
The big day is here! I’ve truly loved the past couple of days, and see all the love this wonderful game has been receiving. I wish it’d last longer, to be honest – I’ve never seen the tags being so active. I saw new roleplay blogs being created, new art drawn, gifs and graphics I’ve never spotted before. I’m so happy this appreciation week was being created in the first place, so foremost, I’d like to speak a HUGE thank you to the finalfantasyix blog, who made it all possible!
Really, words could not describe how much FFIX means to me as a whole. It is more than a game to me. It set the foundation for many, many things I would not want to miss out on at all today. Due to Final Fantasy IX, I got into roleplaying in the first place. It all has begun with a story based on this game I shared with a friend of mine, when I was a child. 13 years later and my writing skills have improved SO much. I’m proud with what I write today and I have met SO many wonderful people along the way. People I consider dear, dear friends and… yes, I think, without FFIX, I would not have peeked into roleplaying at all. Or at least not for a very long time.
Final Fantasy IX made me start to draw back then. Oh, I remember so many, many doodles I drew of Garnet, Beatrix or Zidane. It was my outlet to deal with problems, and I’m so happy I had it in the first place.
But most importantly, it made me start to cosplay. And that is a hobby so dear to my heart, I could not think of NOT doing it. I worked on my skills with practice and determination. Now, I’m still improving, but I’m challenging myself. Back then, when I was a child, I had one particular dream: One day, I want to look like Garnet.
I’m fulfilling myself this dream now and I’m crafting the cosplay as we speak. The jumpsuit, and my dream dress. As you can see in the pictures up there, I’ve also designed an outfit that I had playing in my mind for a while – it is based on her orange jumpsuit. I wanted to share these with you because my real cosplay yet has to celebrate it’s debut.
Final Fantasy IX pushed the wheels in motion, to help me become a creative and talented person. For that, I’ll always be so eternally grateful. Garnet, Zidane, Vivi, Steiner – all of them were the heroes of my childhood. It is perfect as it is, the graphics, the colors, the dialogue. To see the love being shared makes me feel like I am part of a warm, loving family that I wouldn’t want to miss out on for the world.
