spending time with kalim was rarely boring. one moment you'd be having a perfectly normal conversation, and the next he'd be excitedly dragging you and grim across campus because he'd spotted something interesting in the distance. today's outing had been no different. the three of you had spent most of the afternoon wandering around nrc together, talking about anything and everything that came to mind. kalim had somehow gotten onto the topic of ridiculous dorm renovations, which led to him enthusiastically explaining his idea for a giant fruit juice fountain. grim immediately declared it the greatest idea he'd ever heard while you pointed out all the reasons it would be a disaster. kalim only laughed harder, clearly delighted by the argument. being around him always felt easy like that. his enthusiasm was infectious, and before long you found yourself laughing right alongside him.

unfortunately, that was also the exact moment things went wrong. kalim was still laughing when he stepped backward onto a loose stone. you saw his balance disappear almost instantly. his arms flailed as he stumbled, and before you could properly think through your actions, your body moved on instinct. you lunged forward and caught him before he could hit the ground. for one glorious second, your rescue attempt actually worked. then your own momentum carried both of you forward. the world tilted. kalim's eyes widened. grim shouted something incoherent. and suddenly the two of you were crashing toward the pavement. somehow, you managed to keep kalim from taking the worst of the fall, but that unfortunately meant you absorbed most of the impact yourself. pain shot through your shoulder as you landed awkwardly beneath him. for a brief moment everything went still before he immediately scrambled upright in a panic.

"p—prefect!" the horror in his voice made you wince almost as much as your injuries did. "are you okay?!" you attempted to sit up and immediately regretted it when your shoulder protested. the look on kalim's face somehow became even more distressed. grim rushed over at the same time, his ears flattened in concern. between the two of them, you barely managed to convince anyone that you weren't dying. by the time you returned to ramshackle, kalim had entered full caretaker mode. the moment you sat down, he was already piling pillows around you, offering blankets, water, snacks, and anything else he could think of. every few minutes he asked whether you were comfortable. every few minutes you gave the same answer. eventually, after the fifth or sixth time, you couldn't help laughing. "kalim, i'm okay." the response came immediately. "no you're not."

the words were so quiet compared to his usual cheerful voice that they caught you off guard. looking over, you found him staring down at his hands. "you got hurt because of me." the guilt in his expression made your chest ache. it wasn't often that kalim let his worries show so openly. "kalim," you said gently, "i got hurt because i made a really dramatic rescue attempt." "you were trying to help me," he replied. "and then you got hurt instead." before you could answer, grim climbed onto the couch beside the two of you and crossed his arms. "my henchhuman would've done it anyway." you and kalim both looked at him. "it's true," grim huffed. "they throw themselves into danger for people allll the time."

as much as you hated admitting it, he wasn't entirely wrong. kalim seemed to come to the same conclusion because his shoulders relaxed slightly. you smiled and nudged his arm. "see? if i had to choose between a few bruises and you face-planting into the pavement, i'd still do it." for a moment, kalim simply stared at you. then his expression softened into something so warm it nearly made your heart melt. before you could react, he carefully wrapped his arms around you. the hug was gentle, mindful of your injuries, yet somehow that only made it feel more meaningful. you could feel him relax when you returned it. "thank you," he murmured quietly. you laughed softly. "you really don't need to thank me." "i do." the sincerity in his voice made it impossible to argue.

‧₊˚ ┊ I really hate to tell you this, but Rielle ain't got a clue what he's doing

‧₊˚ ┊ He's not dumb, he's just naive about a lot of things and that includes how to tend to you while you're ill

‧₊˚ ┊ In Rielle's defense, he had royal doctors and physicians tending to him for most of his life, so he's not familiar with how to help you beat your sickness

‧₊˚ ┊ The poor boy is absolutely panicked seeing you in such a sorry state and will do anything he can to make you feel better (literally anything, like almost nothing is off limits for him — he'll even make a deal with a sea witch if he has to lol)

‧₊˚ ┊ Rielle does end up falling victim to WebMD and becomes convinced that your symptoms mean you're gonna die in three days, so be prepared to give him some comfort and explain to him that you're just suffering from the common cold

‧₊˚ ┊ Once he's done drying his tears, Rielle is off to the nearest store to get you whatever he thinks you might need

‧₊˚ ┊ He'll return with bags upon bags of everything from several different types of cold medicine to fuzzy socks, a cozy blanket, and plenty of snacks (he literally grabbed anything he thought might help you feel better and didn't even look at the price of it all bc money is really no object to him)

‧₊˚ ┊ Rielle is, of course, very clingy and cuddly with you — he doesn't care about potentially catching whatever you have, he just wants to be close to you and comfort you through your cold

‧₊˚ ┊ He's asking you just about every other minute if you're okay, if you need anything, if your feeling better (he's just worried about you, so cut him some slack lol)

‧₊˚ ┊ Rielle is trying his best here, he's still learning, but he knows you'll be patient with him along the way (he's very grateful for your patience with him <3)

‧₊˚ ┊ Don't worry, Minajael will have you feeling better in no time

‧₊˚ ┊ He's had to learn to take care of himself in a lot of respects as he's distanced himself from his family, so a cold is nothing to him

‧₊˚ ┊ Minajael is gonna baby you a bit while you're sick, but that's just him being a tease (he just can't help himself lol)

‧₊˚ ┊ I know for a fact that he takes care of you like he's running the navy lol like, he's making sure you're hydrated, that you're eating and resting and keeping up on your medicine (he's got alarms and reminders set to make sure he doesn't forget anything too)

‧₊˚ ┊ He knows exactly what medicine you need and will go pick it up — also with some snacks and the like — for you (he doesn't buy up the whole store like Rielle, but he definitely spoils you a bit more than usual since you're sick and not feeling well)

‧₊˚ ┊ Also, you can't tell me that Minajael doesn't make a killer cup of chai, so you better appreciate every cup he pours for you (now I really want chai… 😔)

‧₊˚ ┊ He's an undercover worrywart, like he's really good at appearing all nonchalant when he's really concerned on the inside (he's a fake idgaf-er lol)

‧₊˚ ┊ Minajael doesn't check in with you as much as Rielle does, but he still asks you how you're feeling relatively often

‧₊˚ ┊ Now, Minajael loves you, but he's not gonna be all over you while you're sick — he's not gonna risk catching a cold from you (sorry not sorry lol)

‧₊˚ ┊ As an alternative, he'll let you cuddle with his tiger — who absolutely adores you, by the way — while you rest up (he loves seeing you two all cozy together like, it makes him feel all warm and fuzzy lol)

𝜗ৎ | che’nya isn’t one to get particularly jealous. his go with the flow lifestyle doesn’t really involve getting tangled up in negative feelings such as jealously, so it’s once in a blue moon where signs of his jealously actually come to light…

somehow, che’nya had convinced you to go ziplining with him. you had only been laying down together, rather soundly you might add, before he suddenly decided that you two should do some spontaneous ziplining. now, the idea itself wasn’t too crazy; it was the fact that he wanted to do it on a random tuesday at ten in the morning.

you had already gone down the zip line for the first time at this point, finally ending up reunited with che’nya at the end of the first stage of lines. it would only get more difficult from here, but che’nya was having the time of his life. maybe it was the feline beastman in him that enjoyed being up so high.

he soon slid up next to you and slung an arm over your shoulder, “see, not so bad, huh purr-etty?”

“i guess not,” you groaned, a part of you wishing to be under your sweet sweet warm blankets again. “it was still pretty frightening being up that high though.”

“i’d say you did pretty good out there, sugar.” a random voice came from out of nowhere, startling you and amusing your boyfriend. sugar? where the hell did that come from? but sugar? now, that gave che’nya a good laugh.

while he was busy giggling to himself over this guys intense accent, you turned to look at who your perpetrator was. “huh?”

bald. he was bald. bald with sunglasses.

and of course, there is nothing wrong with that. do whatever you want to with your hair, that is your choice. but oh sevens did this fact only make the situation escalate. you shot a glare toward che, a warning, then looked back to the man. “who are you?”

he smirked at you, “i’m johnny.”

a bald guy with sunglasses named johnny, who was too close for your comfort.

and apparently for che’s too, because next thing you know he’s dragging you off by the hand in the other direction without letting the guy utter another word to you. “let’s go this way, paw-tner.”

you could hear him mutter to himself, “he looks like his name is johnny.”

this got a snicker from you, finally. you finally saw che’nya, the artemiy artemiyevich pinker, jealous. the guy who always went with the flow and didn’t let a couple of bad instances let him down, yet here he was. it was cute.

“are you jealous, che?” you teased, fully enjoying this.

he stopped for a moment, squeezing your hand a little more tightly than before. then, he only gave you a sly smile. “if i say yes, would you buy me an ice cream cone after this?”

“why would i be buying you an ice cream cone?”

“for emotional compensation.”

another glare was given to the cat eared man, to which he only returned with his cheeky topaz gaze and grin.

“…fine.”

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… be incredibly laid back, perfect for when you need to relax. he tends to go with the flow and takes things in stride, it’s a pleasant way to live. this especially becomes handy when there are times when you can be uptight about certain topics; whether it be about school or not. che’nya allows you to get those things off your mind and just enjoy the moment.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… tease you so often that it has become his favorite part of his day. he may make a flirtatious remark, or just be plain ridiculous; but he does it to make you flush that red color he’s come to adore and grin with joy. those are his favorite features to see on you, and it makes him smug when he knows he’s the one making you feel this way.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… always find an opportunity to give you a good scare. it’s a hobby, he admits. using his unique magic, he will appear out of nowhere and jump scare you or say something cryptic then leave. it leaves you with a quirked eyebrow and a desire for answers. will you get those answers you seek from him? likely, no.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… take you out on spontaneous dates. he will appear randomly on your doorstep with that cheeky grin of his, simply grabbing your hand and proceeding to run for the hills. where he takes you is always a mystery; it could be heartslabyul’s rose gardens, or in the middle of the street on sage’s island, you truly never know where you’ll end up. but, you suppose that’s just his nature.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… curl up to cuddle with you, just like a cat. his decision making habits are just like a true cat’s; unpredictable. will he feel extra sweet and lay right on your chest or will he prefer just laying beside you? either way, he is exceptionally affectionate and his eyes hold a certain mischievous affection for you in them. the way his striped tail flicks about and tickles your skin makes the both of you giggle.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… save his best pranks for you. new ideas for pranks and tricks often appear in this cats head, just waiting to be used on the perfect target. as much as he does have his favorites to play pranks on, his ultimate favorite is you. your facial expressions when surprised are simply adorable and che’nya can’t get enough of them!

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… interrupt your study time with his touches. while your studying and analyzing your notes with the utmost focus, che’nya will appear right behind you ready to completely distract you from your original task. he will wrap his arms around you, possibly nuzzle himself into your neck, or maybe even blow on your ear just to get a reaction. sometimes you have to shove his face away for him to just stop and giggle to himself.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… stay up with you in the late hours of the night, just doing whatever comes to mind. he might feel up for a two player game, something that tends to rile you up when he runs off the edge of the world so you have to restart the level. he is the ultimate ragebaiter and troll when it comes to activities like this. but, he also may ask if you two can bake a twenty tiered cake “as the ultimate challenge” and “to see just how far your self esteem’s can prevail”, or catch a random frog at three am. the possibilities with him are truly endless.

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… know when to lay off the pranks and be serious; or as close to serious as a beastman like him can. contrary to popular belief, che’nya has his moments where he can be somewhat calm and be very supportive. if he finds you crying or upset, he will start by cracking a few jokes before he realizes that is not going to help you. instead, he’ll sit there with you talking your feelings out. keeping thoughts that like inside your noggin aren’t going to help, it’s only going to fester. so, he wants to help you to continue being fun and ready for action!

𝐜𝐡𝐞’𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐲𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐭𝐨… change a small detail in your routine, so small that you wouldn’t notice, and wouldn’t realize until a week after it occurred. he is a master of pranks, and occasionally enjoys a good mind game. he will acquire one item that usually lies on your desk, hide it, and pretend it doesn’t exist. a part of you will recognize that such a small part of your routine spot would be gone, but would think you were mistaken. you wouldn’t realize what actually happened until about a month later.
