Mmmmkay after East of Eden I read Stoner by John Williams which I really liked it was a saga of a life, made me feel every life is worth living and everyone has a story to tell.
Now I’m reading Wuthering Heights, I like it but kinda a slog tbh. Hopefully done next week.

Finished East of Eden by Steinbeck, so so so freaking good. I’ll write more in depth about it but coming on to say that holidays coming up and with that more air travel, so I need some kindle recs. Series are great, one offs fine too, but stuff good for the kindle. If you’ve got anything let me know!
Okay after Stardust (Neil Gaiman) I read Everything I Know About Love (Dolly Alderton), then Blood Meridian (Cormac McCarthy), and then Pride and Prejudice (!! First Jane Austen) , and now I’m currently reading Outlander by Diana Gabadon and fucking LOVING IT!
I need to track better. I think I’m trying to re-up all the classics ya know. Need to catch up on 200 years of literature! I was home last week and brought back copies of Wuthering Heights (shoutout sister for HS required reading 10 years ago) and East Of Eden (Steinbeck) - which I read 6 or 7 years ago in my HS History class. I remember really liking it (for required reading of course so not like thru the roof) but I’m excited to revisit it now that I actually give a shit. If you know what I mean. Seriously going to try to rate these when I get a chance work has been busy.

I read Stardust by Neil Gaiman this week.
I didn't know of all the controversy surrounding him until after I started the book so I still finished it out but def am aware of that (for those who don't know just google him)
But I really liked this one. I just finished Mistborn so was looking for a sweet fun one and this one absolutely hit the mark. It was so sweetly romantic and really just a fun time. Gaiman is so frank with his words but he has such gorgeous imagery and epithets and sayings. I felt like I could really picture the book in my head like it was a movie.
I suppose my age group would know him mostly from Coraline and you absolutely get some darkness that totally takes you by suprise but honestly that's my favorite way for people to loop in darkness into such a romantic tale. 7/10

MISTBORN REVIEW!! **spoilers!**
Okay, I finished mistborn! I freaking loved the magic in this series. the way that Brandon left little easter eggs that revealed more and more exactly when I was asking a question is crazy. I said this about Stormlight before. He's a MASTER at holding your hand, walking you up to a question, and then when you are what 'okay wait a minute how does that work I've never thought of that' he's like BAM hint/answer. It's really impressive. After reading a good bit (12ish) of Sarah J Maas books I can see a serious difference in quality of author. Its unspoken but rewarding things like that that really make me respect Brandon.
Okay on to the actual book review. I liked The Final Empire (book 1) the most sort of by a long shot. Less "political" in that it was definitely an act now think later type of book. Obviously we deal with those consequences later lmfao but tbh I liked the (relative !) lightheartedness of this one. Honestly 8/10.
Elend & Vin - Okay now that I've read more Brandon I can soooo see the parallels haha. I really loved Elend's character and I'm sad that Vin had to like go through all this relationship turmoil. I understand that she needed character dev. bc she didn't know who she was but (exactly like Shallan/Adolin) there's like this weird doubt and then they have all this sexual tensh w/ someone? it almost makes me feel like a settle. EVEN THO ADOLIN AND ELEND ARE SO AMAZING. It's just weird and yeah yeah I'm a dumb romantic but I like it when people know that their person is their person.
random note: a lot of characters seemed to get trampled underfoot. Dockson and Devreau principally. There was sooo much there for both of them, and Devreau even got more screen time but I think that a lot more of them wouldn't have been a bad thing. I.e. Dox had like one second and screen time and then died okay. I didn't even feel that bad about it Clubs hit way harder bc I felt like I saw a lot of his and Breeze's relationship. Devreau was kinda a nut but I feel like there could have been something there with a crazy twist on him just being such a religious fanatic, like some hemalurgic point but nope.
Book three just went SO fast! Idk am I crazy for wishing that Brandon had written some more? it just seemed like I was blowing through really important stuff.
Sleeper agent into my favorite character category was TenSoon. He actually was an unreal character to make up and right and his arc was just flawless.
the ending honestly was satisfying even though I didn't WANT it to be satisfying if you know what I mean. I was DEVASTATED actually screamed in my empty apartment at the end but I completely understand why that had to happen I was just still so upset.
I've had some time to think about this one but if I come up with anything else I'll add to this post.
I'm aware that Wind and Truth will be out this winter - I never read Rhythm of War either since I sorta figured I would want to reread 1-3 and finish it all out once its published. Easier to keep it all in my head that way.

shoutout @hoids-lost-flute for pushing me to finally take the plunge. Read the first book and a half on my trip. The magic system is unreal. So immersive of a story. Brandon Sanderson knows what’s up.
I’ll come back with a more in depth discussion but I’m so brain dead from Europe travel (I live in US).
I finished the Goldfinch by Donna Tartt! Beautiful book. Really really wonderful. 9/10
Up next I’m on vacation so going to finally read Mistborn!!!
I finished Hell Bent!
I actually enjoyed this one too. Getting darker! Also I really liked the ending. I don’t think Leigh has a planned third book in this but I really enjoyed how it ended. Like the story wasn’t done. I’m glad I took a break from fiction to read some dark fantasy. It was fun.
I’m now reading the Golfinch by Donna Tartt.
I guess a theme for this year for me is to read more of authors I’ve liked in the past. (VE Schwab, Donna Tartt, Leigh Bardugo so far lol)
Rly liked ninth house, maybe an 8/10 for me! I bought Hell Bent on my kindle too and will start it tonight.

Started reading Ninth House! I needed a plane book. Flew thru the first quarter on the flight home, excited to keep going! I actually rly like this one. It’s a good level of dark.
Believe this is my fifth by miss Leigh Bardugo!
Probably should have added The Road in my June summer round up, finished last night! Wow wow so amazing I blew through it took me 3 days. See why it won a Pulitzer. Ending was flawless. So much to think about. Would recommend to anyone wanting a break in genres. 9/10 taking a point off for mild trauma hahahaha but that’s a personal preference it should probably be a 10/10. Every TW in the book

11/22/63 by Stephen King- 8/10 I really liked this one. Fun to read a book where I had GENUINELY no clue what happened in the end. Typically I mean you know the main characters will end up together, the heroes will save the day blah blah blah. So fun to read something where if anything you’re rooting AGAINST the main character. Great read. Forgot how sexist Stephen King was. Only reason for 2 points off but fun read.
Twisted Love by Ana Huang; 1/10 I actually hated the dynamic between the main characters lmfao they were so toxic and creepy. Couldn’t feel the chemistry. Boring story. Nothing is exciting when you know that it’s just being engineered by the main dude. Finished it so I wouldn’t have a DNF but I laughed my ass off through the last 50 pages.
Currently reading: The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Got about 30-50 pages in last night. Wow. What raw prose. Huge huge huge fan so far. Makes me want to read more McCarthy and I’m not even a third of the way through the book.
Obviously I’m trying to hit more genres this year! Sort of proud of myself for branching out. I’ll make a May/June reading roundup too!

Third of the way thru 11/22/63 by Stephen King. Very exciting read but I had foolishly forgotten how every woman in Stephen king is a pair of boobs and nothing else.
I’m Planning a trip to Europe in the summer and need a lighthearted romance fantasy series to read on my kindle while traveling so I can pack light. Does anyone have any advice? Probably will need at least 3 books.

Maybe These Infinite Threads series? Can’t remember name but know there’s only two. I’ll probably blow through those.
