Once in a while, on weekends after she stays up too late playing video games or trying to get herself to focus on studying, Noelle dreams vividly. It's not always the same dream, but parts of it repeat. Scenes and symbols recycled into different connections. Sometimes she is alone. Sometimes her sister is there. Sometimes Kris is, either as a child or as they are now, in armour or their brother's old sweater. Sometimes there is a smile, or a pair of yellow and pink eyes, or both. A tail. Hearts, white and red, whole or shattered. There is static or a ringing phone or silence, and she never knows which one is worse. Sometimes there is nothing at all, only darkness so heavy she can feel it crushing her, and those ones are always the most terrifying. The only constant of these dreams is a single word right before she wakes up: Proceed.
