âFuck Yeah Darcy Lewisâ, a blog dedicated to the character of Dr Darcy Lewis, assistant of Dr Jane Foster seen in the movie Thor and its sequel and portrayed by the actress Kat Dennings. First thing is probably that Darcy Lewis isnât (wasnât?) just popular being shipped with Bucky Barnes - sheâs just popular full stop. Darcy Lewis has been shipped with every character you can think of, and probably a few more you never would. That whole What If? Howard the Duck thing? Normal for Darcy.
The bigger question is why, and youâre hardly the first to ask. Itâs even been covered in articles (confession: I am mentioned in this article, but genuinely didnât know about it until earlier this year).
The answer in my opinion - or at least why I write Darcy - is that sheâs a canon character but sheâs accessible. She is, broadly speaking, normal - certainly in comparison to the enhanced characters of the MCU, or even the on he es that technically arenât, like Nat & Barton. Even if you compare to other ânormalâ characters, sheâs the most normal - Jane Foster has a Nobel prize and was still mentally calculating equations as she was actively dying. Great character, not so much of an Everyman.
Darcy on the other hand is pretty average - but we also just have the bare facts of her. As far as writing goes, sheâs an open book. And for someone like myself who enjoys writing but simply doesnât have the time to world build a whole original narrative and characters from the ground up, sheâs a bit of gift in that way - sheâs canon, but she gives me creative licence to explore and try new things when Iâm writing.
Her ship names are epic, by the way. For whatever reason the fandom jumped on the idea of her tasing Thor that one time and absolutely ran with it, so you get things like:
Wintershock (Darcy x Bucky)
Shieldshock (Darcy x Steve)
Taster tricks (Darcy x Loki)
Taser torch (Darcy x Johnny Storm)
And so on - thereâs plenty out there, this really doesnât even scratch the surface, believe me.
If we want to focus specifically in on Wintershock (and why not, itâs mainly what I write after all), Bucky Barnes is also a creative gift for a writer who wants to write but doesnât have the bandwidth to create a whole original world from the ground up. Aside from Natasha, heâs probably had the most appearances in the main MCU timeline, but with a tiny amount of screen time to match - despite two films ostensibly being about his character and journey.
Heâs got backstory, but itâs not really explored - or, in the case of FATWS, questionably explored. If youâre a writer who wants to delve into grief, loss, PTSD, adjustment to modern life, and a whole host of other things - well, there he is. It doesnât even have to be as dark as all that - the options are pretty open.
So putting the pair of them together again narratively speaking is great because the options are so wide - plus, heâs from a different time, and Darcy is generally written as pretty damn modern. Believe me, thereâs a lot of âDarcy helps the 40s boy adjustâ 2012 fics out there. Sheâs as ubiquitous in that tower as Bartonâs vents and Thorâs pop tarts.

What can you do? Write (gen, het, femslash, any and all Darcy ships), create graphics, draw illustrations, make fanmixes, podfics, vids, gifs (or gifsets), write up AU rec lists (tell everyone why you love those fics).Â

I cannot find this fix anymore and it's killing me - Darcy is a dragon, she has a son who's a high school student who gets in trouble for setting his school on fire (because they were letting social injustice happen?), Thor used to babysit the son and told him stories about Darcy. Possibly she hoards people who speak Yiddish and snipers? And Bucky is the son's father?

Iâm looking for a fic where Darcy works at a strip club to pay the bills while Jane science! back at their appartment and Darcy uses her equations for her sexy schoolteacher number and Tony drags Bruce to the club.

I posted about this eons ago, and for some reason it popped back in my head today. Iâm looking for a Darcy/Steve ficlet or oneshot probably from a collection of drabbles. It was in a soulmate au. Steve said Darcyâs words, and she avoided him like the plague. Eventually she has to leave her room, and Steve catches her in the kitchen (?). I believe there was some upside down carrying as well. Jane visibly relaxed, resting her chin on the edge of the desk as she knelt behind it, pulling faces at Thomas who giggled wildly and shook his fists at her.
"I just..." Darcy said carefully, hands squeezing into Thomas and putting her head behind his so that her face was obscured from Jane as she continued. "I just realised I want one."

If spooky challenges are particularly your jam, weâd love to see what you do with ours when youâve got the whole year to tackle it!
entriesâYour fanwork is NOT required to use the prompt exactly as it appears on this list. Prompts need only inspire your fanwork, whether they appear word for word in it or not. However the prompt inspires you is correct, as far as weâre concerned. Subvert the prompt, reverse the prompt, marry the promptâitâs up to you.
All forms of fannish works are accepted and encouraged for this event! Fanfic, fanart, poetry, podfics, fanvids, playlists, fiber and other crafts, fan edits, moodboards, etc.
