The President and congressional Democrats have been at an impasse over Trump’s demand for $5 billion in federal funding to build a wall on the southern border, which has led to 25% of the federal government to shut down due to the spending lapse.

Amid the partial government shutdown – now in its 18th day – Trump announced that he would deliver an address Tuesday at 9 p.m. Eastern from the Oval Office “on the Humanitarian and National Security crisis on our Southern Border.” Pelosi’s office announced Tuesday morning that she and Schumer would give the Democratic response from the House Speaker’s Balcony Hallway.
