one genre of fanfiction that seems to have mostly disappeared since i became an adult is shenanigans-type fics. like not exactly crack but just "the gang goes to 7-11" type, extremely low-stakes plot stories. the beach episodes of fanfiction. i just feel like i don't see those around so much anymore. whered they go. i miss them :(
not the same anon but i could see him using sh less as a consistent coping mechanism and more so as a specific response to a specific state of mind. like, he's destabilized by something and then his sense of guilt and shame and self loathing are able to intensify to the point where it collapses his ability to grasp a sense of identity outside of what he has done wrong, so he responds viscerally through aggression towards himself. But those moments of complete overwhelm do not happen on a regular basis, so it's sporadic rather than ritualized, if that makes sense. I could see him using it as a regular coping mechanism when he was younger, before he had access to other outlets.
this More so aligns w how i view him self harming!! i feel like his Younger yrs sh would more so be hitting/scratching himself until he bruised Or bled in places not visible, since any real cuts would be Questioned
sporadically self harming has Always been more realistic to me in general. personally i never rlly had a routine of it? (not saying other Didn’t) so i love the idea of nathan being overwhelmed & reacting violently against Himself
i think this can fit into the Control aspect of his character, in his moments of being completely overwhelmed: he goes for the Easiest way to express that and gain back control.
Just thinking about this fictional Swedish boy. Drew this at 4am on a crash😵

The Life is Strange cast announcing their roles on Instagram:
Meanwhile Emily Carey:
Once when I was in undergrad, someone described something as “problematic” in class and our professor was like, “That’s cool, but ‘problematic’ doesn’t really mean anything. It means that the thing you’re describing has a problem, and in and of itself that’s not bad. Art, especially, should always have problems, or else it’s not interesting and not art, either. It sounds like you’re trying to say that this is bad, but you don’t want to say ‘bad.’ Is that right?”
So from then on whenever one of us called something problematic, he would make us talk it out until we could name the “bad” thing we were hinting at. In this particular class, 7/10 it was some type of oppression, and the remainder was like, “I’m uncomfortable because this is very new/confusing/pushing boundaries that made me feel safe.”
Once we stopped calling things “problematic” and stopping at that, class got way more interesting and... we all had to say, like, “that’s racist” or “that’s misogynistic” or “ew capitalism gross” out loud, which a lot of us had never done in a classroom before. Or we had to be like, “Uhhh... I’m not sure what’s so bad?” and confront our own beliefs and that was maybe even more useful.
Anyway. Whenever I see the word problematic, I can’t help but think of this professor being like, “Good starting point, now let’s get specific.” I think when we have to commit to saying “that’s ___” it requires a lot more careful thought about the truth and impact and complexities of whatever we’re claiming. Sometimes there really is some bullshit afoot, and also sometimes it’s art, and it should be full of problems, because that’s what art is.
At the moment you make a critique of patriarchy suddenly all men are black brown disabled mentally ill poor immigrant queer refugee polyamorous diabetic toothless from a developing country and all women are white rich warlord 1stworlders
A teenager cannot get reconstructive surgery. But a parent can circumcise a baby.
A teenager cannot get body modifications. But a parent can pierce a baby's ears.
A teenager (or even a 20 year old) cannot buy cigarettes. But a parent can smoke in places where their toddler is forced to be.
What a teenager chooses is met with stricter scrutiny than what's forced on a very young child.
it’s so hard for me to listen to heartbroken/angry breakup songs by straight men bc no matter how good the song is i’ll be like i’m not sure if i fully believe you. let’s hear her side of the story.

awww the like button turns into a rainbow when you press it! that's so cute...hey staff what's with all the trans women you keep nuking?
i think we should be ridiculing them more for this. you don't get to try and go all "queer website" when your staff likes to go on nuking sprees targeting the trans fem users
Can someone make SAW traps for people who make over 40k a year but it's just them having to live lower class for a month and having to interact with other people who make under that? They are the most ignorant self centered people on earth, I swear. I'm so fucking tired of every time I look for help/tips/anything online some 45 year old rich fuck that had a trust fund and went to law school tells me I'll never be able to live with... What I've been living on for 22 years
Got a great ad encouraging people to dismantle surveillance equipment and then sell the guts at a pawn shop
repeat after me. humans are not inherently evil humans are not like a virus on this earth humans do not “deserve” to go extinct or anything like that. we are living breathing animals that deserve space just like every other creature on this planet. there’s just a tiny amount of us that have a fuck ton of money and power and they really suck

the state does not need to assign you a sex, nor does it need to keep inalterable record of it btw
I think a lot of transmisogyny stems from this idea that people are really scared to see a dick. The reason bathrooms and locker rooms and hot springs keep being flash points is because these are all places where if a trans woman is using them, it's possible you might see her dick. A lot of transmisogynistic humor revolves around being traumatized because the subject saw a woman with a penis. And look, to a certain extent I sympathize. I'm not a fan of dick; I dont want this thing either. But if you want to be an ally to trans women, I think a big important step you can take personally is to examine your own reaction to the scenarios I described above, and recognize that a dick is just a body part a girl has sometimes. Seeing it as inherently sexual and/or traumatizing is a major wedge conservatives use to justify their rhetoric
