The most basic, intractable fact about mental illnesses is that you simply cannot willpower your way out of them. The only exceptions to this rule are the ones I have, which continue to disable me due to lack of determination and other grave personal flaws

Izzys like one of those animals that needs a playmate or they'll go a bit weird, except what Izzy needs is a Captain to be A Bit Homoerotic With
Hey, another quite odd request, but can we have Con O'Neill play a version of the Big Bad Wolf? Personally, I would prefer it to be a voice acting role and it is animated as a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood or some other Grimms Fairy Tale with a scary wolf character. I can just hear his raspy voice and it suits the wolf character.
Science fiction is full of first contact stories, but is there a such thing as LAST contact? Decide exactly what that means, and write about it.
It was too late, when the humans came. They were a young species, still exploring outwards, vital and thriving.
We… were not.
War had ravaged us, and sickness, and war once again, until our population dwindled beyond the point of recovery. We struggled against that, of course… we used genetic manipulation, and cloning, and even more desperate measures. None succeeded. When the humans came, we were sinking into apathy, only a few tens of us left. We had begun to discuss whether we should commit a mass suicide, or simply wait to fade away.
And then the young species came, in their clumsy ships, and they asked us why we were so few.
“We are becoming extinct,” we told them. “We have passed the point of recovery.”
It is custom to avoid the races that are dying – once a species reaches the point of inevitable extinction, even war is suspended, and the fiercest enemy pulls back. The custom was born of plagues and poisons that could be carried forth from a dying world to afflict a healthy one, but it has the implacable weight of tradition now. After we are gone, after they have waited for the prescribed period of quarantine, there will be a fight for our world. Habitable worlds are few, and this is a good one, with plenty of free groundwater and thriving vegetation. It is a bitter thing to be grateful for the custom that allows us to die in peace, but we are grateful.
But the humans don’t know that custom, and they do not leave. They seem distraught, when we tell them we are dying, and try to offer their aid - but their technology is behind ours, and it is too late. When they realize that they can’t save us, though, they do something that bewilders us.

Seeing people who full-chest talk about how transmasculine people need to be decentered in feminism is genuinely ??? "Let women be feminine" levels of online. You can't decenter a group that has never been centered, and the worst part is, you're telling everybody that continued transmasculine erasure is praxis. Rather than organizing around social forces of oppression, you're explicitly abandoning one of the most vulnerable groups to patriarchal violence.
During this Pride Month, which has very much come from America to us, I'd like to tell you about some of Finnish queer history:
1903 Aino Malmberg published the first known lesbian short story in Finland, named "ystävyyttä" ("friendship").
1963 Christer Kihlman publishes a break trough novel Den blå modern ("blue mother"). One of the book's themes is homosexuality, and the book ended up winning the national literary price.
1966 Ilkka Taipale publishes a book "Sukupuoleton Suomi" ("genderless Finland"). In it a lawyer Herbert Gumpler criticizes the law that criminalized gay acts, because it left gay people vulnerable to extortion and violence.
1968 Keskusteluseura Psyke becomes the first registered queer association. It later starts to publish a magazine "96" for queer people.
These literary works and formal associations might seem boring compared to the "first pride was a riot" we hear from America. But the truth is that these published materials slowly moved people's opinions, and in 1971 "gay acts" were no longer a crime.
Also reminder that our nowadays well known and beloved gay icon Touko Laaksonen, "Tom of Finland" started his career in 1956 by publishing his art with that pen name in a magazine based in USA, because that stuff was still illegal in Finland, and even publishing with his real name could have got him into trouble before the law changed. But damn it he found a way to get them published anyway.
The moral of this history; never underestimate the power of a pen. A writing or a drawing can be a part of a change you want to see happening.
