i get so emotional every time i think about fanfic culture. it's just so beautiful that people are writing and anonymously posting these thousand-word stories about characters we all love and not even getting any money or public fame from it. it's literally just for the love of the game.
shout out to everyone who participates in fanfic culture, be it reading or writing fanfics. you are contributing to such a lovely thing <3

im so obsessed with the idea that kaz just reads everything for wylan, but in such a natural way that everyone forgets that it's because wylan can't read, and kaz kind of forgets that everyone else can read
kaz bringing in the newspaper saying 'look at this', slamming the paper down on the table for for everyone to see and announces the headline 'pekka rollins shits himself in the harbour'. it's just instinctual to read it out, even though everyone else at the table can read what it says
kaz going to restaurants with the crows and handing wylan a menu saying 'they've got that herb chicken you like'. then he scans it again and points to a couple of things that he also knows wylan likes, and it's so causal and conversational and wylan doesn't feel scrutinised, or as though he's being looked after
(kaz also starts point out things the others like before remembering that they can read the menu and then just stops talking)
kaz and wylan going to coffee shops and kaz goes 'what do you think you're gonna get' before they get there so that wylan doesn't panic inside the shop. and he doesn't leave room for wyan to ask him to read things out, because kaz knows he hates doing that. so they go and kaz just says 'you want syrup in your coffee? they've got vanilla, caramel, or hazelnut'
and it's just so easy and instinctual. it makes wylan feel normal, because being read to isnt a big part of what's going on. kaz just manages to easily slip it into conversation without thinking, as though he does it with everyone
(now imagine wylan isn't there and kaz begrudgingly gets waffles with another member of the dregs (he's getting soft) and immediately goes 'what sort of syrup do you like? because they've got apple, strawberry or chocolate, but it does say you can get a mix' and the dreg is like 'i know? the menu is right in front of me?' and kaz just kind of realises that he doesn't even think about doing it anymore)
(also imagine him getting a letter and some of the higher ranked dregs need to know about it, and instead of just giving them it to read, kaz starts just reading it out, and all of the other dregs are like 'isn't it easier is we just read it ourselves?' and kaz just pauses and wonders when he actually started hanging out with wylan so much that he's the only person he knows how to talk to)
the 141 arenât stupid -- they wouldnât carry a photo of you in their vest or helmet. no name written anywhere, nothing on their body that could potentially trace to a woman back home.
but they all carry something.
simon has a hair tie on his wrist. black, cheap, the kind you buy in packs of fifty and lose all over the damn flat. it sits under the cuff of his glove, biting into his skin, reminding him exactly why he needs to make it home. it always smells like your shampoo for a bit before it starts to smell like his own sweat, he finds himself a new one on the bathroom floor before each deployment.
price wears a watch. itâs not the watch thatâs about you, really. itâs that he started setting the second time zone to match yours. he checks it more than he should, especially at night when he canât sleep and itâs three a.m where he is and eight a.m where you are. heâll think: âsheâll be making coffee, i wonder what she wore to bedâ and thatâs the closest he lets himself get to mixing you with work.
kyle wears a bracelet. itâs thin braided yarn, the kind of thing you learned to make as a kid at camp. you made it on a slow sunday afternoon while he was half-asleep on your thigh. he said âoh, thatâs sick, darling. ta!â, put it on and hasnât taken it off since. itâs absolutely filthy these days. and when it starts to fray, he simply keeps re-knotting it, sometimes johnny has to help get it tight.
johnny carries a folded square of paper thatâs gone so soft it feels like fabric, he keeps it safe in a zipped pocket on his kit. itâs a grocery list in your looping handwriting that youâd left him on the kitchen counter one morning. eggs, soy milk, the good butter, berries, your stupid crisps, wine (red). itâs got a small heart in the corner -- thatâs the most worn bit because he brushes his thumb over it every night.
Sometimes the house became almost painfully quiet when Simon was away. Not the good kind of quiet, the kind that settled softly over the room and let you breathe for a while. This was different. A strange, persistent silence that felt like something was missing from the walls themselves, like the whole place had forgotten how to sound like home.
You did your best to fill it.
Books, music, little cleaning spurts that turned into reorganizing entire shelves, and, most often lately, cooking. Cooking helped. It gave your hands something to do and your mind something to focus on. It was soothing, for the most part, until you made something you knew Simon would have loved, and there was no one there to tease, taste, or steal the first bite.
Still, tonightâs recipe had gone well. The kitchen smelled warm and rich, all garlic and herbs and something sweet lingering underneath. You stood there with a plate in one hand, ready to finally serve, when you heard it.
A shuffle. Then a low groan from the front door.
Your whole body went rigid.
Simon was not supposed to be back for another week. You were alone. No guests, no deliveries, no reason for anyone to be at the door at all.
Someone was breaking in. Shit.
You went cold all at once, every lecture Simon had ever given you on self defense flashing through your mind, but panic left no room for careful thinking. You grabbed the plate tighter, your knuckles whitening around it, and moved before your brain could catch up.
The lock rattled, the door bursting open and you swung.
The plate shattered spectacularly against the head of the very tall intruder.
For one breathtaking second, you stood frozen, half expecting a stranger, a threat, anything else.
Instead, a familiar grumble filled the doorway, "Fucking hell."
Your soul left your body.
âSimon?â you gasped, throwing your hands up in horror as adrenaline shot through you so fast your fingers trembled.
He staggered inside, a duffel bag slipping from one shoulder and thudding to the floor. One hand braced against the wall, the other pressed to the side of his head.
âAre you okay?!â you gasped.
âI got smashed with a plate. What ya think?â he muttered, eyes shut tight.
âYou were supposed to be back in a week!â
âMission ended early,â he said with a pained groan.
âWhy didnât you tell me?â
âWanted tâ surprise ya.â
You stared at him.
Then gestured wildly at the ceramic graveyard on the floor.
"That is objectively the worst possible strategy for someone who constantly tells me to be careful because of all the enemies you've made."
He gave you a flat look. âNice. Blame the victim.â
"The victim broke into the house like a raccoon with military training."
He huffed "rude."
âJust go sit down,â you said, already ushering him toward the sofa. âIâll get the first aid kit.â
He kicked off his boots with a grunt and dropped onto the couch like all the bones in his body had collectively decided to quit. By the time you returned, kit in hand, he looked tired in that deeply worn-out way that made your chest ache, guilt gnawed at you like a tiny feral creature.
"Si, I'm so sorry," you blurted the second you sat beside him. "I genuinely thought someone was breaking in and then the door opened and I panicked and my body moved before my brain did and I hit you andâ"
"It's alright, sweeâheart," his voice came soft, steady.
You worked carefully, cleaning the scratches on his forehead and the small cuts along his shoulder. He didnât even flinch much, though he did keep staring at you with that quiet, warm look that always made you feel like you were the only light in the room.
âBeen through a dangerous mission,â he said, âanâ get home to get clocked by me wife.â
âIt wasnât on purpose,â you said, glaring at the cotton pad like it had personally offended you.
âNever said it was.â
âYou are being very smug for a man who got ambushed by dinnerware.â
He huffed a laugh. âUsually wives greet their husbands with kisses and hugs. Not ceramic warfare.â
âI was trying out a new greeting method.â
He raised one brow. âNext time, how about a pan to the face?â
You let out a helpless laugh. âShut up.â
âYou hit me.â
âI thought you were breaking in!â
âStill counts as domestic violence, luv.â
You snorted despite yourself, and he looked absurdly pleased with that.
Once you finished, he leaned back into the couch with a long sigh, still horrified and still trying not to laugh at the stupidity of this entire situation. He tilted his head toward you.
âOn the bright side,â he said, âI do know for certain youâre safe when Iâm gone.â
actually im doing really well except for the fact that everything makes me sad and the things that dont make me sad make me angry. but other than that im fine

the other Bennet sister fills me with so much hope. for the girls who were never chosen. for the girls who have never fit in. for the girls whoâs sisters naturally seem to flourish socially but couldnât understand why it wasnât the same for them. for the girls who are overlooked. for the girls who dream of a gentle and stable love. for the girls who tell everyone theyâre okay with being alone. this one was for us, love is possible.
i am NOT done yapping about how in love husband! katsuki is with his dear wife.
you were curled up on the couch later that night, katsukiâs arm draped around your shoulders while you scrolled through twitter again. he was half-asleep, head tilted back against the cushions, soft breaths leaving his lips.
just as you were about to close the app, another tweet popped up on your feedâ one that made you freeze.
original tweet: "yeah babe gimme a minute, js fighting crime rn"
underneath was a blurry, mid-action shot of katsuki during a recent mission. in one hand, his phone was visible, screen lit up, while his other hand was mid-explosion, sending a villain flying backward.
the kicker? he was grinning at his phone. not his usual battle-hungry, determined smirk. no, this was softer. goofy. a full-blown, lovesick idiot smile.
the kind of smile he only ever gave you.
"oh my god. katsuki," you whispered, shaking his arm. "wake up."
he groaned, cracking one eye open. "what now?"
you shoved the phone in his face. "explain."
he squinted at the screen, brow furrowing. his jaw immediately clenched when he recognized himself in the picture.
meanwhile, twitter had already decided:
- "hero of the year goes to dynamight for texting his wife while fighting crime."
- "broâs out here fighting for his life and still prioritizing his girl. goals."
- "im jealous. getting a text back while he's FIGHTING VILLAINS IS CRAZYYY"
his mouth opened. closed. then he groaned, scrubbing a hand down his face. "shit. didn't think they got that on camera."
"you didnât think holding your phone in the middle of a fight would get caught on camera?"
"i was multitaskin'!" his ears were bright red.
"oh, for fuck's sake," you huffed, half-frustrated, half-melting into a puddle of affection. "is this why you said 'one sec babe, busy' that one time like you were busy with, oh, i don't know, paperwork instead of fighting a damn villain?"
"i had it under control," he grumbled, running a hand over his face. "was just checkinâ in on you."
"checking in?" you echoed, laughing. "you were literally detonating someone with your other hand!"
he groaned. "sânot my fault. needed to text my girl. s'not a crime."
your heart stuttered. "while fighting villains?"
"yeah, well...ya texted first."
you blinked. "so this is my fault?"
"yeah," he crossed his arms, cheeks turning pink. "maybe if ya didnât make me smile like a fuckinâ idiot, i wouldnât get caught slackinâ. you seemed excited over something... figured you'd wanna talk."
your heart stopped for a second, warmth flooding through you.
"youâre such a dumbass," you said softly, leaning in to kiss his cheek. you leaned up, wrapping your arms around his neck, nuzzling into him. "missed me that much, huh?"
he huffed but didnât stop you, his arms tightened around you, his embarrassment giving way to quiet satisfaction. "yeah, yeah. always miss you."
and the next time you texted him during work, you made damn sure to add:
"don't text back. fight the damn villains first."
he didnât listen, obviously.
"they can wait. they know my wife is important."

pranking your husband by not giving him his goodbye kiss!! reader x katsuki bakugo<3 (he needs a kiss from you to have a good day hehe) đâ°・ââĄ
while your husband katsuki was busy putting on his hero suit for the day, you were occupied with cleaning up the dishes from the breakfast he'd made for the two of you. you're washing and drying the plates with your ipad set up near the counter playing music, humming quietly to the tune under your breath. you feel a strong pair of arms wrap around your waist soon enough before katsuki's mouth places a quick kiss behind your ear
"might be out later than usual today, dunno how long that meeting is scheduled forâbut be ready by eight sharpâi'm gonna take you out for dinner tonight." katsuki says, giving your waist one last squeeze before he moves towards the doorway to put on his boots. you let out a hum of confirmation at his words before he pulls away
"okay," you singsong, fighting back a smile as you finish drying the last plate. you see katsuki tugging his gauntlets on and adjusting his mask before he leans against the door frame
"alright babe, i'm about to head out!" he yells from the doorway, standing expectantly with his arms crossed over his broad chest and a cocky grin gracing his annoyingly handsome face. you start walking towards him, but at the last second, turn towards the living room and make a show of collapsing onto the couch with a loud and satisfied sigh
you grab the throw blanket laying idly on one of the cushions and wrap it around your shoulders before pulling out your phone, pointedly ignoring katsuki's aggressively confused blinking
"alright, bye kats! love you," you shout over your shoulder as you begin scrolling through your instagram feed, hiding your smile behind your phone screen.
the thing is, katsuki's terrifying when he's quiet, because he's rarely ever silent. he stands frozen in his spot, blinking slowly with a blank look on his face before he scoffs
"huh?" he grumbles under his breath quietly, watching you ignore him and focus on your phone rather than come kiss him goodbye like you usually did, like you always did, and he's genuinely distraught.
katsuki hovers by the door, tilting his head with a frown when you remain comfortably seated on the couch. normally, you bound right over to him when he's about to leave for the day and give him a kiss, fix his mask, play with the hair resting at the nape of his neck, tell him to stay safe and take care of himselfâbut today, he's barely even offered a second glance.
you're not mad at him, he knows that much. you'd been just fine this morning when you'd waken up, and you were acting like your usual self at breakfast, tooâbut now? you don't seem to be upset either, just... occupied? but what was more important than him?
"aren't you forgetting something?" he huffs, hands on his hips and brows furrowed as you look up from your phone with feigned confusion all over your face
"huh? what do you mean?" you question innocently
"youâyou'reâwhat are you doing?!" he demands suddenly, stomping over to where you are and tugging off your blanket in one swift movement as you squeal
"kats, i'm cooooold! give it back!" you whine with a laugh, and katsuki's brows pinch together before he quickly disregards his gauntlets on the ground and crawls over to where you are on the couch
"so annoying." he mutters under his breath as he cages you beneath his arms, keeping one arm braced over your head as the other moves to pinch your cheek
"eek! stop thatâ"
"i'm not going anywhere until you kiss me. tell me good luck. hug me. all that lovey dovey shit." he grumbles, eyes squinting and dead serious as you laugh, finally wrapping your arms around his neck and your legs around his strong waist
"mmm okay... kats, i love you so very much, and i hope you have a safe and fulfilling day kicking ass!" you chirp, pressing a hard kiss right onto his lips with a dramatic mwah!
"damn right i will. and when i come back, what are you gonna be doing?"
"sitting nice and prettyâall ready for our date." you grin as he huffs, finally smiling down at you as he places an uncharacteristically gentle kiss onto your lips
"that's right. and you should know that i don't give a shit if you're mad as hell at me, i'm not ever leaving this apartment without a kiss from you. and if you pull this shit with me again? i'll blast youâ"
"yeah, yeah, all the way to hellâblah, blah, blah! you should get going, mr. dynamight! you're going to be late," you tease, squirming under his grip as katsuki rolls his eyes
"such a brat. you're lucky i love you so damn much." he grunts, pulling himself off of you as he stands to his full height, looking over at you from above with his hands on his hips and a cocked head. you sit up, knees digging into the cushions of the couch as you give him one last kiss, this one more genuine than all the silly little pecks you'd exchanged with him thus far this morning, and his gaze softens a degree at the gesture
"goodbye, kats." you enunciate with a giggle, and katsuki only huffs fondly before pressing one last kiss into your hair as he mutters the words bye, sweetheart.
