it's crazy despite being so fixated on how murkoff spesfically tortures gooseberry, i never realized until my friend pointed it how despite gooseberry being jewish, so much of her trials are church centric and also just blatantly antisemitic , but also how it could mimic the real childhood she had being probably the only black jewish person in her town relying on christan resources and community, and there being lines durning these trials (referencing her lines to never being looked for in hide and seek as a kid, how none of the other kids would ever play with her, ect), it wouldn't be insane to assume they knew she was horrifically isolated due to being jewish in what could be presumed an all christan community. they're forcing her to relive that horrific feeling of isolation in the one space according to everyone else you should be safe in, and having no real safety especially in the cold war era as a disabled black jewish woman. i love you so much gooseberry. everything they're doing to you is so evil and fucked up
