why is it that when im reading fanfic i feel like i have a fairly good metric for if something is characterized accurately but when im trying to write suddenly its like ive never seen this character in my life. would he say that. would he fucking say that. suddenly i have no idea

Thinking about how it's been literally one episode and we've already seen how much of Armand's trauma has been twisted to haunt him. On the one hand there are people sexualising and objectifying him and taking goofy pictures with his painting and on the other you have a coven of vampires adopting the name of the cult that brutally abused him, while claiming that he is their inspiration. He should be allowed to kill every single living creature on earth.

“the betrayal was better in the book” could not agree less. the movie version is excellent. soooo awkward and unsettling and funny and sad. the way he cries and runs away and is tackled to the ground and begs for his life completely futilely 🩵

the other thing I loved about Ryan Gosling in that scene was how he like. He was so clearly really nervous about telling her but had made up his mind, like, "oh God, how do I tell her," and he'd figured out that that was fucking stupid and had the thought "all I need to do is Set a Firm Boundary! I know it's really hard but I can do it!" and so he sets his Firm Boundary and you can see how he's anxious but a little smug about it, he's really proud of himself for figuring out how to do that, simply Saying No even though it's very hard and took some bravery, and then when that doesn't work he just dissolves into absolute panic mode. Incredible.
