rights to peaceful protest no longer a thing, AND what really gets me is the fact that police can arrest you if they THINK you're going to a protest or being disruptive. you're disabled and you walk by a protest about disability rights? police can arrest you on suspicion of partaking in a protest. couple of teens hanging out on a street corner? police can arrest you if theyre having a bad day and can say you are suspected of protest.

stop and search warrants. this goes back to the protest thing. you've just been to a DIY store and have bought some DIY equipment. police can now stop and search you with no reason and say you were using that equipment to incite a protest.

most UK press being in parliaments back pocket and therefore we get no real truth unless its leaked

new bill allowing British dual-citizens to be stripped of citizenship without warning (supposedly only in the “interests of national security, diplomatic relations or otherwise in the public interest” but how long until it’s used against people for e.g. protesting against the government? or to deport people for simply being suspected of crimes like terrorism — i.e. an excuse to deport muslim citizens without any evidence supposedly in the interest of “national security”?)

increased attempts to prosecute asylum seekers and make it hard for them to enter the UK and, including new law to make it illegal to “facilitate entry of asylum seekers” — without pushback from organisations like the royal national lifeboat institution it would’ve been illegal for they and other rescue services to help migrants from drowning while crossing the channel. literally preventing migrants from dying would’ve been criminalised by this government.

I think that when discussing fascism it’s very important to not forget the minority groups used as scapegoats and the subsequent stripping of their rights because it’s these people that will be affected the most. Immigrants (and especially Muslim immigrants, including refugees from conflicts Britain is complicit in) are some of the most vulnerable and most targeted by the current government.
