Kal definitely sounds like a mandonerd who names his sons from his heroes like Jaster Mereel and Canderous Ordo, or spaceship like Kom'rk class figther (but yes kom'rk also means gauntlet).

But his own original name is Falin Mattran and his adoptive father, Munin Skirata named him Kal, because in their first meeting, this 7 years old feral child wanted to stab him with that signature knife.
