@kt-reads-things and I are so excited to finally!! share this gorgeous commission of Mische rising from the forge. She has so many memorable moments in the Shadowborn duet, but this one left us with hearts in our eyes and our jaws on the floor.

When Jurian enters the scene, I get so patriotic in a I’m Every Woman Chaka Khan kinda way except it’s I’m Every Human. Yes he went a little crazy but he RODE for his species.
People don’t like what he did to Clythia (I know it’s all fictional) but truly, why would I give even half a damn about a faerie who enslaved and tortured humans? Like excuse me, I’m human. That’s me you’re talking about.
So when I read what he did to her in the end, my reaction was “well shiiit”. And that only.

gwynriel brainrot incoming:
Azriel being the self-sacrificing idiot that he is, gets a bad injury while scouting. blunt force trauma to the head is what he’s told. the rest of the IC is fretting on him like mother hens (in their defence it’s not often that they see the shadowsinger knocked unconscious for days).
the whole thing is a little odd for him, especially because he can’t seem to recall the last month due to what Madja calls “short term amnesia”, but he is assured that with time and rest, his memories should come back to him.
throughout this whole ordeal, Azriel simply wants one thing: Gwyn. while his family is doing their best to try and keep him comfortable (even though he is bored out of his mind on bed rest), something inside him is screaming to just go find Gwyn.
his shadows are constantly restless and keep telling him to go to Gwyn. he wants to hear her voice ramble on about the latest book she’s reading, or her ranting about the googly eyes that Nesta and Cassian keep making to each other during training, and how Merril was on her ass again about her research. he wants to be surrounded by her scent of sea and salt, see the flush of her cheeks and the shine of her eyes when she gets excited.
yet every time he requests to see her, the IC exchange looks before telling him that she is away on her own mission. one time, he even asked Nesta to just tell her that he was hurt and he’s sure Gwyn would come. but it’s been days now and still she hasn’t visited.
the problem? he doesn’t seem to remember that one month ago, he ended his relationship with Gwyn and left her heartbroken.
