As we head into ACOTAR 6 & 7 I’m begging SJM to retire the Rhys Nesta drama…

Me: *buys a new book* OH MY GOD I CANT WAIT TO GO HOME AND READ IT, IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TO COME OUR FOR YEARS!!

You cannot convince me that SJM didn’t intentionally write Lucien to be the ultimate payoff character. He says the wrong thing at the worst possible time and always pays for it. He loses his love, loses his home, is rejected by his own family, can’t truly belong in Spring, isn’t fully accepted in Night, and spends most of the series with nowhere that’s really his. Despite all of that, he remains gentle, compassionate, endlessly loyal, and still chooses kindness. If anyone has earned the happiest ending in the entire series, it’s Lucien.

all this talk of Gilbert and Anne has me revisiting their first scene together because from the beginning Gilbert, while immature, demonstrates the sense of integrity that makes him so appealing (also included is the passage that shows how this boy is gone from start)
